Home built by Domaine Homes with a Balcony issue that remains unresolved since Nov 2020 last year
We built with Domain homes and moved into our new home in March 2020. While they were many issues with site manager ([Name Removed]) coordination was poor during construction, brick laying job was not done professionally (I have photos to prove), our featured wall was not acid washed properly (have photos to prove), paint patches on wall and doors (photos to prove), a very disappointing major issue ie the roof trusses (again i have photos) not done according to Australian Standards, these issues got resolved. At the time, when I reported the ma...tter to [Name Removed] (site manager), he argued that it was correctly done, but they followed another method/process. My property inspector challenged the process followed on roof truss, and said pls explain the other process followed, because there can't be another way of doing this. Upon presenting our inspection report, only then they fixed the problem. I had to engage my own property inspector and paid out of my pocket. However, it’s worth it, but the NSW law should allow a homeowner to claim this expense from the builder, since it’s an added cost you do not envisage, and it’s not the owners fault, but the builders. Also, our Aircon job was done very unprofessionally, and the cooling was leaking through the gaps because of a poor job. I only came to know because I was getting some new lights put in and my electrician told me (have photos to prove). Now the issue that hasn't been resolved till this date 25 Aug 2021 is our Balcony rails that feels loose and in-secured and don't feel it’s safe. I reported this matter in Nov 2020. I then had to send 3 reminders to [Name Removed] from Customer service who assured me that they will send their building inspector to get the job checked. [Name Removed] visited our property on 16 March 2021 (a year after we had moved in) and had a look at the Balcony rail to assure me that it was ok. However, I questioned that why the rail is loose (shaky) and expressed my concern that we don't feel safe to use the balcony in this condition. [Name Removed] then assured me that he will get the problem fixed by reinforcing the rails, so it’s not loose anymore. However, since 16 March 2021, there has been no response, no follow ups from Domain Homes. I am just disappointed that they don't bother because we’ve paid the money in full and on time, and they seem to have forgotten their due diligence.
Poor communication throughout build after promise of weekly progress reports via phone call were not provided. Left unaware of progress of build.
Driveway paint job got wet at application and no assistance to remedy to damage. Very disappointed with the outcome.
Any issues viewed in final walk through to be fixed up.
Best purchase experience, but... The build..
I have retracted my previous 5 star review that celebrated the excellent customer service and purchase experience, which indeed was excellent and made us feel like we made the right choice for building our family home.
From the purchase through [name removed], to the ongoing customer service with [name removed] at head office, we felt assured of the right choice.
To date, I will keep this review open with 2 stars until all warranty is completed.
I will update my review once Clarendon have completed the work required and hopefully I can return the 5 stars.
Domaine stole $1000 from me.
I bought a block of land in Macarthur Heights Estate (Campbelltown). It is sloped land. I approached Domaine for a tender. They were clearly aware that the land had a slope. I provided contours, and even a sight plan from another builder. They assured me they were aware of the sloped land in the estate and that they had in fact built homes in the estate for other people. To reach a final tender I was required to pay $1000 which I was reluctant to do because I was considering other builders. I was assured that the $1000 would be worth pay...ing as it would ensure I received a fixed price to build one of Domaine's homes. Two weeks later I was told that Domaine could not build on my block of land because of the slope! Not only that - they would not refund the $1000! I feel like i've been had. Never again Domaine!!!!

Wish i didnt go with them
We had a Domaine home built. Domaine are part of the Clarendon group. We had heaps of issues. Ie, leaking shower (had to drill into my wall tiles to fix) , damage to out polyurethane kitchen cupboards (which they initially refused to fix), water leak through new window, scratch mirror, scratches to windows, bad paint job which was fixed after about 6 months because i had repainted it myself. The list goes on.
Questions & Answers
I am presently considering building with Domaine BUT I have only noticed product reviews from the Sydney regions, particularly Baulkham Hills. I have not read any from customers building with Domaine within the Illawarra Region (south and south east of Sydney suburbs). Is there anyway who can share their Domaine building experience in the Illawarra/Shellharbour region please. Jane
Thank you for reaching out, please be advised that the reason you are seeing Baulkham Hills come up is because it is referencing our head office location, not the build location.
There are reviews that do mention their whereabouts, so I hope you find some close to the area you are looking for.
I had the same experience as in this review https://www.productreview.com.au/reviews/d397375a-9470-424d-b95b-3e04119eb49f. I've cancelled the build (before actual tender is given to me) and moved to a different builder. I would like to ask you to please consider refunding the deposit that I paid. Would greatly appreciate if anyone can contact me as soon as possible. Michael is not responding to my email. I would like to sort this out with you guys before I file a complain to NSW Fair Trading.
Thanks. Waiting for your response.
Do DomaineHomes charge any Land excess and Marketing fee for house and land packages?
We are currently considering a domaine home's Home and Land Package and they have included a Land access and Marketing fee in the package. Is this the same in your case? Did you proceed with them?
