Clean record, accident and credit file and still got rejected for an unknown reason. The employees couldn’t assist me or give me a reason. Pretty frustrating if you ask me

Booking cars that are not even available!! Booked a long term rental for 6 months, spoke to 3 different staff members to ensure the vehicle I wanted was definitely available, was confirmed with each conversation! Then paid the $500 bond and the $280 weekly payment - got my booking confirmation, confirmed a pick up day and time with Suttons City - arrived to dealer and was advised the car was not even available, then they tried to offer me another vehicle with max of 150kms per day when the one I booked was unlimited KMs.... Would not recommend this company or service to anyone. Very unprofessional and inconvenient!!
Bad communication and they delete bookings without telling you
First up we were trying to be a repeat customer. We used these guys last year and Justin provided an awesome service. This time round, terrible. Their online chat doesn't seem manned this time and no one gets back. We tried to book an available car and then to find it is not available, got told in a not very clear way that we should book closer to the time. When I emailed them, to clarify.
No response. It is now closer to the time and rebooked again only to find 4 days later that it looks like the booking has been deleted but no email commu...
Bait advertiser or incompetent - either way give them a miss
My request for a car was declined because the car was not available - Yet it was listed as being available on the site along with 4 other identical vehicles and 7 similar vehicles from the same owner at the same location for the 7 days I was requesting. I was offered another car 20 km away. I was seeking something for pickup and drop off close to me so this offer was worthless. To show multiple cars as being available and then suddenly they are not is either incompetence or Bait Advertising. Also 48 hours to confirm a booking? Not exactly 21st Century. By the time I found out it was too late to make other arrangements.
Efficient digital sign-up process
After an initial hiccup where the owner response was late and I had to initiate follow-up, the customer service provided by Vincent was first class. The digital sign-up process is efficient and simple to follow and certainly saves time when picking up the vehicle compared to traditional car rentals where a lot of the paperwork is completed at pick-up. The pick-up process basically comprised a vehicle walk-around with the vehicle owner and instructions on how to return the vehicle, something not usually done with car rental companies who often...leave you to inspect the car yourself. All in all a great proposition/offering and would certainly consider again for longer term use as approximately 25% cheaper than an equivalent rental though one of the big rental firms.
Do NOT use this company
This organisation is completely unreputable and secretive. I have tried to rent a vehicle for the summer break however today (the day before the booking). I was told firstly that they could not verify my drivers licence and that I should check with my licence provider to see if I was currently suspended from driving. Needless to say there are no issues with my drivers licence. They then claimed that I "did not meet the verification threshold". I've asked for them to explain the threshold numerous times with no response.
Throughout the process,...they asked for copies of my passport and other sensitive documents via emial which is highly insecure compared to a secure online portal that they should be using for these kinds of documents. I've tried calling and live chat to resolve this issue. When I asked to speak to a supervisor on the phone, I was laughed at then hung up on. I have massive concerns with the privacy and security of my information with this company and have written to the Office of the Australian Information Commissioner to complain about their alignment with the privacy principles and their use of third party verification providers. I strongly recommend that you do not use this organisation.

When I tried to book cars, the bookings were cancelled twice! After the first cancellation I wrote to them asking them why and asking them to take the car off their site, if it is not available. They responded promptly to my queries, but wouldn't give me any real reason, other than it must be unavailable and encouraging me to try another car. Both the cars I tried to book are still showing as available for my dates and still come up as the first options in my search. In order to save their own reputation they need to take the cars off their site if the owners are turning down bookings. I'm wondering if they actually have any of these cars available?
simple to set up the account, easy to proceed with bookings
Team is very responsive. Very easy to set up the account. Easy to communicate. Cars match as advertised. I use the company for 3 years mainly for Uber. Any inquiries are answered in a quick manner.
Convenient Car Hire
Ive been with DriveMyCar for almost 3 years now and overall the vehicles and customer service has been great. Only issue is the accounts department which has charged the wrong accounts on numerous times, and blame the system for not properly removing accounts, as requested. Accounts definitely needs to be improved to not feel like an offshore processing department.
Would also be great to have more new cars to hire from manufacturers as previously available from Subaru and Peugeot. Manufacturer promo deals have disappeared for over 12 months now. Disappointed.
Good service and reasonably priced
Have used Drive My Car regularly and have always received great service. Rentals have been reasonably priced and the cars in good condition. Airport pick ups / drop offs have been simple. Would recommend.

The car we hired was a mercedes and was in excellent condition. The customer service was excellent. We had one little hiccup but was sorted out very quickly. Overall very happy and would use this company again.

If i was able to give this company no stars i would. The worst car hire company I've ever been with. I can’t express my disappointment enough. I Applied to hire a car which I was looking to take away for a VERY important weekend. I gave them all the adequate forms of ID’s required, they asked for either my passport “OR” drivers license. I’m a very busy man and didn’t have immediate access to my passport so I decided to send them my license. They messaged me hours before the day of hire to tell me that they cannot allow me to use the vehicle due...to not having enough forms of ID even though I had supplied them with all the relevant points of identification they had asked me to. After asking them what’s the reason why I can’t use their vehicle they mentioned that they’re unable to disclose that information. Very helpful aye. My assumptions are that it was all good until they looked at my license and realised that i am a man of COLOUR. ALL my points of identification were adequate and correct; I don’t see how they could tell me I can’t use the car. Do not hire with these guys! There's so many other professional and reasonable car hire companies you can go with. Disappointed!!!!

My 1st DMC experience, very good service, especially Jasper and his fleet team, bond refunded within a week, car in tip-top condition, will definitely look for him again and recommend this to all my friends.
I booked a car but they didn’t delivered as it was not available.. but the same thing repeated for 3 times .. not a reliable service. Honestly I ask if you are not sure about the delivery of the vehicle then why do you advertise it saying it as available.?
5 day confirmation period
From a cost perspective the platform looks very interesting, but the platform on how they confirm the booking is ridiculous. I tried booking a car which showed 'available' on the web site for the dates chosen only to be rejected by the owner 3 days later..... I then booked another car immediately and only after I called them was in informed it was also not available. Given it takes 48hrs to confirm I had to go to Avis.... disaster.
Disappointing car hire
Because drive my car is not the owner, your dealing with a 3 party and that's a problem. Poor communication on where pick up at airport. Inexperienced staff at pickup and drop off. Bogus damage claim day after drop off. Car was dirty inside from previous rental and many scratches and a dent on panels. Not what I was expecting.

The customer service at Busy Beaver where the cars are kept is great, make sure though that there isn't an error on paperwork like ticking clean box when car is dirty, you will be charged 75 out of deposit for clean. The ID stuff was ridiculous even wanting to know what high school I went to. They tried to take out of my account 976.00 which funds weren't there, which is the only reason I knew they were taking it out as I got an email stating funds not available. When I called them they said it was for tolls. I had already paid them through ...city link. They did not give an invoice or itemised record. I had to call Manager/[name removed] to sort it out. What a run around. And If I had the money in the account I would not have known that they had taken it. So check your accounts after any dealings with these people.

Customer service was great..no probs there.
But be aware they will take all your deposit for bogus claims..
Car cleaning / panel damage / scratches etc
Car was immaculate when dropped back.. my wife spent 2hrs cleaning and not a mark or scratch anywhere.
I blame the second party contractors at The car storage doing the inspections etc.
Never again ..

Beware of privacy intrusion
I booked a car, signed the agreement and provided required documents for identity verification. They later declined my booking saying my credit rating is not good enough. I was completely shocked... since when a car rental company can access customers’ credit score? I checked Australian privacy law and clearly they are not authorised to do so. I am in the process of lodging a complaint to the office of Australian Information Commissioner and I will provide an update here once I get a response. The irony is apparently my credit rating is good enough to get a loan to buy a $75,000 car, but not good enough to rent a $30k car for 7 days from these guys :)
PATHETIC EXPERIENCE AND BEWARE OF DRIVEMYCAR:
I booked and paid for the 9-seater van before 3 months for the Christmas Holidays. As my bro's family are here for a visit to Australia, so we all planned to visit most of the places in Australia and as well, booked hotel accommodation in Sydney, Phillip Island. We're 8 people, so booked the 9-seater.
At the last moment, just before two days to pick the vehicle, the customer service team leader sent email (not even a call) saying the vehicle is breakdown and can't replace with similar vehicle.
All they said is they can return my refund.

I am looking to rent my car on this site in Adelaide and noticed that there only seems to be about 20 cars and only 1 available? Does that mean this service in not in much demand in Adelaide.
Hi andrew, yes, sometimes cars can be booked or not available. Better call them to help you for first booking... rest once you get used to it then you should be fine with it i have booked almost 5 times till now...
