Awesome vacuum cleaner
Great suction, the absolute model comes with a whole lot of extra attachments, the ball rights itself if it rolls. Its emptying process is vastly improved in usability over the old DC39 we had. I'm finding I don't have to go over areas I've already done before just to get them clean. I judge a good appliance as one you look forward to using. This is definitely the case here, its a great vacuum.

RIP Big Balls
My wife and I bought this after the untimely death of a 20yr old, reliable Electrolux barrel bagger.
It started really well, the turbine brush picked up cat hair really well and suction was unbelievable. We loved using it, better than our old Electrolux. We affectionately named him Big Balls, we were so pleased with it.
However, after reading the manual and a casual browse online after we came home with Big Balls, we realised that there were other considerations to owning Big Balls, and keeping him reliable.
Firstly, he would not pick up ...anything larger than a speck of flour without damage occurring to the machine. I made sure to sweep my floors (yes, my carpets too, with a broom) and pick up everything I could see with the naked eye before getting out the Big Balls. If you do happen to miss a small pea-sized object and run over it, the turbine head either flicks it across the floor into a remote corner, or it goes into the barrel. If this happens, you must leap onto your Big Balls and quickly turn it off, like a soldier protecting his comrades from a thrown grenade, before the aforementioned damage occurs. Secondly, the barrel looks huge! However only roughly 1/4 of it can be filled before the aforementioned damage can occur. So if you own an expansive 90 sq metre apartment like mine, you're going to be visiting the bin a bit.

Very hard to empty and refit barrel
Suction is good, that’s where it ends. The barrel will often empty itself as you remove it from the vacuum cleaner dropping its contents all over the bottom inside of the vacuum cleaner. You then need another vacuum cleaner to clean it up before you can put the barrel back on. So buy spare to clean the cleaner.
If you do manage to get the barrel to a bin before it drops its guts then it is very tricky to close the barrel after emptying it. You need to left a small grey tab that is a bit awkward to get at although not too bad. This releases the...

Don’t fall for the hype
The only positive of this vac is the suction. It does pick up the dirt, however ... that’s if the head you need to use at the time doesn’t twist over. My biggest issue is actually emptying it. It was sold to me as perfect for allergies, so easy to use and empty. No mess, no fuss! Well that’s a load of rubbish. Now if your lucky enough to get the barrel off the vac without it just opening and leaving all your dirt back where it started... you get to the bin and push the red button and down the dirt comes, and then you have to get in there and gi...ve it a good shake and pull all the fluff from the filters so then by this time your covered in dust and if you suffer from allergies, let me tell u this isn’t a great thing! Then the exciting part of trying to get the dust lid closed again, and actually staying closed, that’s a challenge too. The tiny clip doesn’t seem to hold properly. I bought this for hard wood and carpet flooring. Bought the one with all the attachments. Extremely annoying to have to keep going back and forth finding the tools you need cause not on the vac it self. The ball is heavy and awkward. The stick handle is very light and can adjust length which is good. However still feels very cheap. Unfortunately I’ve had this bad purchase since February and now stuck with it till I can save for something else.

Love this vaccuum
Ive had my dyson vacuum for 3 years now. Perfect for all floors, including carpets. I have 2 dogs, and small childern. No issues picking up mess. Does need cleaned put regularly though!
Purchased in February 2016 at Harvey Norman for $360.00.
Best vacuum I've used
I use this vac on rugs and hard floors. We have a dog and a cat and there are three adults and two messy kids.
I upgraded from a bag free Hoover and what a difference!
There's no messing about with this one - everything gets sucked up and because it's bagless you see it happening. My rugs haven't ever had such a thorough clean.
I like the fact you can clean the filters yourself and don't have the added expense of buying replacements.
The parts click neatly together and can be easily taken apart.
It's a very attractive-looking machine, which i...

Lots of suction, lots of plastic parts to break
The vacuum cleaner is really good as far a suction and cleaning power go. Gives a good deep clean on carpet and easy going on tile floors. The lack of bag is a great concept and there's a good array of tools.
On the downside Dyson has never been big on plastics quality. The plastics components are weak and flimsy and will fail easily. Whilst its a good cleaner make sure and take out extended warranty

Don't buy it!
I've never broken a vacuum cleaner until this one. I snagged it on a door frame and popped the wheel off. So much for no snagging! It couldn't be put back on as its attached to the main frame with a small bit of plastic. It is unstable on carpet and tips going over its own cord. Suction is good but the hard floor head is small and takes ages on a big floor space. Very overrated for the price.
Best Vaccum Cleaner
It is definitely the best. I have two cats, so naturally I would have hair everywhere and the vaccum cleaner gets everything. I have to empty it after about 5 uses so I know it picks up a lot of things. Through I dont think its the easiest to clean.
I think this vacuume is amazing super high powered and if you purchase the power head it is just unbeatable . I find it so easy to clean the filters also it is easy to tow around the house with out it tipping over like other brands . I highly recommend this product .
Best thing that ever happened to vacuuming
This vacuum cleaner is the best thing that ever happened to cleaning! I have a lot of hair in my workspace and this has made cleaning such a joy. I find it a bit hard to manoeuvre on carpet but when it goes over it picks up everything! Easy to clean and so worth the purchase!
Waste of money
We have owned 3 Dysons over time and hands down this one is the worst. The turbo head won't pick up the animal hair off our mat, the turbo head is rubbish and when the head is turn to hard floors it doesn't suck. I need to use 3 different heads to clean what the old Dyson did with one. Will never by another Dyson again
This vacuum cleaner is fantastic
My house work is halved using this vacuum cleaner, it’s easy to use and gets rid of dirt and dust that is trapped down in the fibres of your carpet. My house looks and feels much cleaner since purchasing this. I can walk on my carport and it actually feels so much more softer.
This is the second Dyson I have owned. I loved the first one too. However I think that this one is even better. It is very easy to use. It is very convenient to use. It is very quiet to use. It is an absolute pleasure to use! Recommend definitely
Thought I was upgrading....couldn't have been more wrong!!
I purchased my first Dyson (original big ball orange one) back in about 2000 and I loved it! In fact it's still going strong but I thought after 17 years and the handle broke a bit, I'd upgrade to a new one.
I purchased the Cinetic big ball absolute in May 2017 and all I can say is that it's the worst purchase I have ever made. Myself and my husband are continuously infuriated by it and have been pretty much from the beginning.
It has useless suction, (I use it on tiles, hardwood and carpet) it's somewhat okay on the tiles and wood but I've...
This is vacuum is super effective on a variety of surfaces, very good on the inside of cars! I would definitely recommend this model and would say that it is definitely better than the smaller Dyson model due to its enhanced suction and larger head. I experienced no loss of suction even on uneven surfaces.
The wife convinced me to fork out 800 dollars for a vacuum... I thought this to be sheer madness. It pains me to admit that she was right the Dyson is s great product that easy to bug use and does a great job. Pulls more dirt out of the carpet than you wanted to know was there.
Picks up everything
The performance of the Dyson is unrivalled by any other vacuum, the auction is very impressive and picks up everything from thick plush carpet, the multifloor head makes it easy to go from hard flooring to carpet with the push of button. The self righting feature makes it easy when I go up and down the stairs as it will stand itself back upright when it gets on level ground

Was expecting more
This product is easy to manoeuvre and works quite well on wooden floors. However, for the price I paid, I was definitely expecting more suction and more surprise on carpeted areas. Was a little disappointed with the overall result on carpet, it had the same result of my last $49 vacuum.
Questions & Answers
Hi there. We are in Christchurch New Zealand. Our Dyson cinematic has great suction for varying periods of time. Then there is a noise like something popping or a membrane being sucked in, and the suction dies almost totally. This can be almost as soon as you turn it on or can be after 5-6 minutes - seldom longer. The dust container is never very full in fact sometimes it happens when there is next to nothing in it, other times when there is a small amount in the dust container. Can you please advise. It has not always been like this. There is no obvious obstruction anywhere.

What is weight of Absolute Barrel vacuum cleaner?
Annie, I am not sure about the Absolute as I was reviewing the Allergy...I am not sure if the barrels are the same and its only the attachments that make them different. The only thing I can say, is that they pull around easily and if they do tumble over, they actually turn themselves the right way up. But as to the weight, I have no idea sorry.
Thanks. I bought the Absolute yesterday and it's all good.
Will a Dyson pick up tusks of wool which are being shed from our new wool carpet. If so.which model should I buy ?
Hi Julie here I cannot say whether my Dyson big Ball would do this as I have not had such a problem as I have an older wool 85%nyon15% mix if I remember rightly but to see how well this DYSON collects up my beautiful fluffy cat fur and of course any garden fodder he brings in having sat in the garden bed for some time. I can however recommend the

I cannot say directly onlythat I am extremely delighted with my Dysonbigball and as I have a physical disability now due to Rheumatoid Arthritis and Early Onset Parkinson's disease I find this product with all of the attachments great.
Thank you for your query. Any Dyson machine should be able to help with picking up fibres being shed from the carpet. However, a machine with a spinning brush bar will work more efficiently for this purpose.
I would encourage you to email firstname.lastname@example.org, and we'll be happy to find t he right Cinetic Big Ball machine for you.
I have a Dyson Cinetic BigBall Allergy with the turbine brush head and it struggles to pick up white fluff that gets stuck on my black wool carpet. Even after going over it 4-5 times, I still have to bend down to remove bits of fluff manually.
