Dyson Cinetic Big Ball
Multi Floor, Animal Pro, Animal, etc...Reviewer Photos & Videos

Rubbish
I have to agree with all the other complaints on here.
Dust blowing out the back of the machine, have already replaced ( the lifetime) filter.
Collection bin is ridiculously small. The clip on the bin is totally useless and non functional. The turbo brush constantly jams. The power button jams, as well as the cord retract.
Is only two years old, if I could find the receipt I would be returning it for my $1000 dollars back.
Will never recommend to anyone.
Purchased in June 2019 for A$999.00.

Very expensive below-average vacuum cleaner. Carbon fibre turbine died, took it apart and freed up the hair clogging the bearing thanks to a youtube video showing me how to do it. Dyson uses star-head screws to prevent consumers from fixing their own parts. It freed up and started to work again but I think it might need more grease now because it seizes up even faster than it used to. Also unable to buy replacements for this specific head because it has been out of stock in Australia for over 6 months. I have been checking the Dyson web page si...Read more
nce June last year, still not available and possibly even discontinued? (I can only see the dual floor head and that has been out of stock forever). Suction is not bad but not amazing for a modern cleaner. Mostly the issue lies in that carbon fibre turbine head... the bristles have burned away, specifically the black ones which I assume as supposed to be said carbon fibre bristles. They're all gone, eroded into oblivion after about 1.5 years of use. The replacement turbine is also unavailable to buy. Don't buy Dyson. I've heard awful things about their more expensive cordless stick vacuums too.Purchased in April 2018 for A$700.00.

Dyson Cinetic Big Ball Animal
The Dyson "Big Ball" is just that:
Big. Heavy. Cumbersome. Obstinate.
This machine replaced an original 'Dyson Ball' which was a beautiful machine.
Then Dyson "fixed something that wasn't broken" and invented the 'Big Ball'.
This thing is like dragging a medicine ball around.
Not only on carpet, but especially also on timber, tiled, or any smooth floor.
The wheel mechanism has a momentary prolapse in concentration, and has to be coaxed along, only by dragging on the hose....Read more

Is not suitable for all floor types, despite the advertising saying so
This vacuum doesn't work on carpet at all - it leaves large clumps of hair and dust in its wake. I have now been told by support that this cleaner is not suitable for carpet, despite the website stating that the cleaner works on all floor types. Very disappointed at what a waste of money it has been - I am now looking at selling it and will buy another brand. The ball is also heavy and needs to be carried over wooden floors so it doesn't leave any scratches.

Always had Dyson in last 20years and am disapointed
You take the barrel off every 2nd time and it opens on the floor, I make sure it's clicked in properly ( base to barrel) but it still does it. Is there a fix for this ??? any help would be appreciated

Not a good choice
Too heavy and cumbersome to move. End up carrying it around the house - which is not ideal. Worst point is that it does not actual suck up the dirt. It kind of pushes everything around and ends up with in clumps, which I guess is easier to pick up. I have no idea why people rave over this brand. Could not be more disappointed.

It has issues
I have had numerous dysons over the last 25 years. This is by far the least well designed. While suction is excellent. Yes, you have to clean the brushes on the turbo head every now and then but I have to do that on all of them. The main design fault with this dyson is that the barrel, when you want to remove it to empty it, opens up and the contents get emptied all over the vacuum cleaner and your floor. So you have to clean the machine re-assemble it and then vacuum the floor, albeit small portion of it, again. The design of this one is very much bellow par in comparison to other dysons.

Scratching My Timber Floors
The suction is quite good on the vacuum cleaner and I like the fact that it is quite compact, however, it is scratching my timber floors and I can no longer use this vacuum cleaner on the timber floors which make up the majority of the flooring in my house.

Great suction, but starts to leave scratches on wooden floor
I have this Dyson for quite a while now, but since a few weeks it leaves a scratches on my wooden floor.
It looks like the shoe cover below the MuscleHead has become too thin to not make the whole head run without rubbing the floor and leave marks.
Even after putting the head on the minimum suction, it still leaves mark.
I end up not using it anymore. That's a shame because it's my first Dyson.

Completely Useless
I am so disappointed with this vacuum. It pushes the dirt around on hard surfaces and any hair it picks up from the carpet gets stuck in the brush head. I have to disassemble during and after each use to cut the hair from the brush and remove dust blocked in the tube. When I called Dyson they tried to imply that having three girls with long hair was abnormal and then tried to tell me that cleaning out the brush and tube during and after each use was the normal maintenance procedure for this vacuum. This to me is a faulty machine, but when sent ...Read more
away to test, it just came back saying they couldn’t find a fault. Is it tested on a bald bachelor? They then tried to tell me it was up to the retail store I bought it from to refund me but of course the retail store tell me it’s up to Dyson, so no one is willing to take responsibility and I’m left with a product that is totally useless to me.Purchased in March 2020 at Noel Leeming for A$700.00.

Really great machine but
Got this machine a few months ago to replace my dc08 turbine after the second motor went out. I had high expectations and they were all met it picks up the dirt like nothing else. the tangle free turbine is a great improvement from older models and I love the fact that’s there’s no filters to clean or replace. there is some downfalls 1. The bin never fills up evenly all the dirt will fill all the way to the top at the back and there will be none at the front of the bin. This is a issue my old Dyson only did when sucked up a lot of dirt at one time. 2. I have read reviews that the bin open randomly and yes that has happened to me but only once. Other than that it’s worth the money and a great product

Dyson that didn't live up to it's claims.
I had my Dyson for about 3 years. From the start, I wasn't a fan with my Dyson. I hated cleaning the dust bin. The dirt would stick to the top of the unit. I would have to pull the dirt out and tap it to shake the fine dust out. The dirt at the top of the unit would stick and I would have to rub it off. Recently the suction power has weakened, almost to no suction at all. I empty the dust bin after every use and I still experience loss of suction. It's messy and unpleasant to clean the dust bin. My Dyson was a disappointment and didn't live up to it's claims. I'm going to buy a different kind of vacuum, that I don't have to work so hard to clean.
Purchased in March 2017.

s/Dyson-Cinetic-Big-Ball/214890-01/not-working/pick-up-issue In terms of dust sticking, the machine should eject the dust when the bin slides down and open, however in the event there is some stubborn debris, this should be easily rectified by closing and reopening the bin.Similar opinion? Avoid Dyson Barrel vacuums- you'll end up carrying the heavy barrel in your other hand.
Purchased the Dyson Cinetic Big Ball Origin from David Jones for $397 AU on 20/6/20. After the first use hated it (still hate it after the 3rd use)- doesn't suck well enough, even on the max setting (ie won't vacuum a hair ball off carpet), the barrel doesn't follow along behind you but rather tries to go the wrong way, doesn't roll at all, or just tips over. It is frustrating +++. So you have to end up carrying the HEAVY barrel in the other hand and consequently hurting your back. The bin emptying function is also terrible and the base keeps o...Read more

Doesn’t work well for cars and carpets
I found the suction very poor, does not get the sand off the car carpets and mats easily. My old Electrolux was far better for less than half the price. Also on carpets, it does a poor job with pet hair, it just gathers them into a big ball of hair in front of the head. Very disappointed and planning on returning it ASAP

Pneumatic head useless on carpet
After years of a conventional cleaner we decided to go for a Dyson. So far that seems a mistake. We were advised by the salesperson in JB Hi Fi to go for this multi floor pneumatic after describing our floors. It was more expensive dive but we thought this would be good. We can’t even push the head over our medium pile carpet and the finer carpet sticks like a limpet mine. Surely Dyson are smarter than this. So now after more than $500 we still don’t have a vacuum cleaner to clean our house properly. Very disappointed in our first Dyson product.

Ideal for small fall and on carpet and tiled surfaces
I used this in a 57sq m carpeted flat and on a tiled bathroom floor and tiled balcony. It is easy to manipulate and manoeuvre. The powerful suction left surfaces dust free. The ejection of debris is easy and the multiple fittings are ideal for all areas. Recommended.

not as good as the older models
Have been using dyson vacuum for the past twenty years, this is the worst model that I ever had. First, the new quick-release mechanism doesn't work well. Its hard to release or connect it to the main hose or wand. And then the worst part is to empty the container bin. The red release button doesn't really pushes dirt out or the barrel, alot of the time the dirt/dust get stucked at the top of the barrel and need to remove it by hand. Also the opening lid will cover of dust when emptying, so cleaning the lid (especially the plastic rubber seal) is required.

Broke just a few months after purchase
I was happily vacuuming the carpet just over 5 months after buying it on boxing Day sales and it snapped broken in my hand. The big extended tube links with a piece to the handle, that piece is glued or fused somehow and it's become unglued. Customer care were nice after an 8' wait on the phone but even though another part will be sent to my home it will take up to 14 days and Customer care representative offered no solution as to how I can manage without vacuuming in the meantime.
Really disappointed that I finally decide to go for the reputable and expensive Dyson brand and it lasts the least of all the vacuum cleaners I have ever had.
Hoping this is not the first of a series of breakdowns and it's just a one off.

Frustrating
I wanted to love my Dyson but I don’t. I expected more for the price. The suction is good but the fact that the dust container lid pops open occasionally by itself spilling dust everywhere is a huge downside. Dyson keeps saying it’s not supposed to do that but the fact that many reviews complain about this might indicate that it is a design flaw. Very annoying. Wish you would just accept it’s an issue and fix this.

Don’t fall for the hype
The only positive of this vac is the suction. It does pick up the dirt, however ... that’s if the head you need to use at the time doesn’t twist over. My biggest issue is actually emptying it. It was sold to me as perfect for allergies, so easy to use and empty. No mess, no fuss! Well that’s a load of rubbish. Now if your lucky enough to get the barrel off the vac without it just opening and leaving all your dirt back where it started... you get to the bin and push the red button and down the dirt comes, and then you have to get in there and gi...Read more
ve it a good shake and pull all the fluff from the filters so then by this time your covered in dust and if you suffer from allergies, let me tell u this isn’t a great thing! Then the exciting part of trying to get the dust lid closed again, and actually staying closed, that’s a challenge too. The tiny clip doesn’t seem to hold properly. I bought this for hard wood and carpet flooring. Bought the one with all the attachments. Extremely annoying to have to keep going back and forth finding the tools you need cause not on the vac it self. The ball is heavy and awkward. The stick handle is very light and can adjust length which is good. However still feels very cheap. Unfortunately I’ve had this bad purchase since February and now stuck with it till I can save for something else.Purchased in February 2020 at The Good Guys for A$795.00.

Dyson - I am very excited about my new vacuum and think I may just have to figure out how to work some aspects. I have used it four or five times. I have had a few trial and error mistakes with the bin not being properly closed and vacuuming dirt all over. Hopefully I've solved that. My turbine head seems very noisy and I'm thinking I probably should be wearing ear protectors. I thought maybe something is clogging it - I have cleaned the brushes on the turbine head a few times as my long hair is wrapping around the roller. I have removed it all but still very noisy and I'm feeling the suction isn't as good as it was the first day. My husband tried it and it was too loud for him and he operates our leaf blower with enthusiasm. The wand seems to be fastened properly. I do feel like it is a simple fix but I just can't find what it is.

Oh yes!
This is a feature of the obstinate Big Ball !
Didn't they tell you !
The suction inlet gets blocked with anything bigger than a gnats testicle.
So you have to open it to clear the obstruction.
Good idea never to open your machine inside the house.
Oh I don't have a problem with suction. But I do have a problem with the clip at bottom of cylinder. Wont stay closed. Dirt everywhere

We are sorry to hear the bin is opening on your machine when not expected. Sometimes, this can happen if the bin is pushed back up into position without closing the trap door first. We encourage closing the trap door, then pushing the bin back up into position.
If this is how you already close the bin or this continues, please just get in touch with our Dyson Experts and we will be happy to help get this sorted. You can find our contact details here: https://www.dyson.com.au/support/contact-us
