I have to agree with all the other complaints on here.
Dust blowing out the back of the machine, have already replaced ( the lifetime) filter.
Collection bin is ridiculously small. The clip on the bin is totally useless and non functional. The turbo brush constantly jams. The power button jams, as well as the cord retract.
Is only two years old, if I could find the receipt I would be returning it for my $1000 dollars back.
Will never recommend to anyone.

Dyson Cinetic Big Ball Animal
The Dyson "Big Ball" is just that:
Big. Heavy. Cumbersome. Obstinate.
This machine replaced an original 'Dyson Ball' which was a beautiful machine.
Then Dyson "fixed something that wasn't broken" and invented the 'Big Ball'.
This thing is like dragging a medicine ball around.
Not only on carpet, but especially also on timber, tiled, or any smooth floor.
The wheel mechanism has a momentary prolapse in concentration, and has to be coaxed along, only by dragging on the hose....

Not a good choice
Too heavy and cumbersome to move. End up carrying it around the house - which is not ideal. Worst point is that it does not actual suck up the dirt. It kind of pushes everything around and ends up with in clumps, which I guess is easier to pick up. I have no idea why people rave over this brand. Could not be more disappointed.
Purchased in September 2020.
I am so disappointed with this vacuum. It pushes the dirt around on hard surfaces and any hair it picks up from the carpet gets stuck in the brush head. I have to disassemble during and after each use to cut the hair from the brush and remove dust blocked in the tube. When I called Dyson they tried to imply that having three girls with long hair was abnormal and then tried to tell me that cleaning out the brush and tube during and after each use was the normal maintenance procedure for this vacuum. This to me is a faulty machine, but when sent ...away to test, it just came back saying they couldn’t find a fault. Is it tested on a bald bachelor? They then tried to tell me it was up to the retail store I bought it from to refund me but of course the retail store tell me it’s up to Dyson, so no one is willing to take responsibility and I’m left with a product that is totally useless to me.

Motors in these are absolute rubbish
My Dyson Animal lasted two years. It's use has been household carpet and vinyl flooring. A few days ago the unit started producing a screaming sound which I took to be a bearing failure. I fitted a new motor and. Upon examining the old motor found the end cap on the motor housing had fatigued totally and allowed the amature to contact the outer section. The casing is unbelievably thin.

Do Not Buy Dyson, Never again Dyson
Never again Dyson. We have exhausted our patience with our Dyson cinetic big ball animal pro. Have been loyal Dyson customers for nearly 20 years, this is our 3rd Dyson vacuum, but the Animal Pro vacuum has too many faults, extremely disappointing for a very expensive machine, one would expect total reliability, but it is definitely not fit for purpose, does not do what it is advertised to do, that is to vacuum up dog hair. We bought the Dyson cinetic big ball Animal Pro because we wanted the Dyson pet groom attachment tool. Issues include but...not limited to not picking up dog hair, the reason vacuum was specifically purchased for, just blows dog hair up in air. Dog hair sticks to wand from static, resulting in continually having to turn off to wipe hair off wand to feed into vacuum. Does not vacuum up dust and hair off dry tiled floor. Does not collect dust and hair evenly in barrel, but sticks to top of barrel, which makes emptying messy. Barrel doesn’t fully empty, the clips on the barrel don’t secure properly thus spills contents back on to clean floor requiring the floors to be vacuumed again. I have emailed Dyson to advise them of these problems, that the Animal Pro is not fit for purpose and would appreciate a refund or replacement. Dyson have requested I send the Animal Pro to their service centre, but because of this costly exercise we do not wish to spend any more money on their inferior vacuum. We informed Dyson of our loyal customer of nearly 20 years with serial no of 1st purchase of DCO5 that was recalled by Dyson in 2006 due to Electrical Safety Recall. Then we paid Dyson additional money to upgrade to Dyson DC23. But Dyson are not interested in repaying out loyalty, but intent on insisting we return the Animal Pro for servicing, despite the faults not being serviceable. Dyson have forever lost our custom, we will now be replacing with another brand.

I miss my old Dyson
After owning a Dyson for 12 years why would I buy anything else... I was excited to see the benefits of 12 years of R&D how sad it was to go so far backwards and wish I never upgraded. The dust lid doesn't always lock properly and spills dust when you remove it, it is hard to move around especially doors, the attachments are always clogged and had to buy special tooling to disassemble clean the dust and hair from the belt and cogs in the head myself instead of always sending it back for repair. My Wife prefers using my $90 Bunnings shop vacuum as it does a better job.

Don't buy into the Dyson hype
The suction levels on the vacuum are poor - refer video. On timber floors it won't pick up anything larger than a grain of rice on first sweep. I have to pick up multiple items by hand as it's faster than moving the vacuum head back and forth again and again. The on/off and cord retractor buttons seem to be fagile, however in fairness I could be wrong. But their size and placement make it difficult to use anything but hands. When emptying the vacuum it has opened unexpectedly on multiple occasions, dumping dust on clean floors. And its quite difficult to get the bottom door of the dust receptacle to stay closed. It's truly awful!
Purchased in September 2019 for $799.00.
It's good but not great.
It looks flash.
It has reasonable suction.
It's not too noisy.
It has no bags.
It has a lot of accessories.
Power cord is too short (true off all 3 powered dysons I already own).

Good enough suction, but don’t buy because you loved the Dyson Classic.
I bought this because I absolutely loved my Dyson Classic, which was starting to die after 16 years. What a let down! The techie guys at Dyson obviously thought they were making design improvements, but have failed miserably.
There is only one handle, compared to the Classic, which means that if you dock the wand before you pick up the entire unit, you invariable get clonked in the head.
The ball wheels I initially thought were pretty good, but have since realised that on corners, where the straight wheels hit the skirting boards, this one impa...

Don't Waste Your Money
I saved my money to by this product as it was all that you heard was the best brand money could buy. I had purchased a Miele cat and dog previously but was sick and tired of having to buy bags for it . So I changed. What a terrible decision that was. The first time I used it fabulous heavy duty suction. Then the next time a bit less and within a month no better than the cheap vacuums. So disappointed with this as I spent a lot of money on it. Will never buy another Dyson product overated.
Wish I had read the reviews first.
Cheap plastic rubbish. Not what you expect from $500 +. Loved my old Dyson, very dissapointed. Hair blocks barrel which needs manual untangling, blocks dirt going into barrel. Musclehead tool plastic has WORN off in 5 months so it now leaves scuffs on timber floor. Asked for refund for faulty lemon, told no only part replacement. And BUY another part. Seriously Dyson, model is a lemon recall it. Customers are fleeing and wont be back.

It sucks more than it sucks! And not in a good way!
After seeing a heap of recommendations for a Dyson vacuum cleaner, I decided to get a cinetic big ball after my trusty Miele finally blew up. So maybe I’m just an idiot and don’t know how to use the thing properly, or I’ve missed a warning on the instructions in teeny writing saying ‘do not suck anything up bigger than a match head or it’ll block.’ Cos basically that’s what happens. Not only does it block easily, it takes FOREVER taking the thing apart to find which section may be blocked since the hose consists of several stupid bends making i...t easier to block. I spend more time poking various bendy objects into its numerous holes than I do actually using the thing, Im sure if it could orgasm, it would! Thank god the hose comes apart into 100 pieces because it’s the only practical part of the bloody vacuum! And the barrel is ridiculously small, it fills up quickly and is a nightmare to empty! I can’t just tip the crap out, I have to shake the crap out of it and poke things into that part of it too! It gets more pokes than me! I swear those who do recommend them just jump on the bandwagon about how good they are and have never actually used one. The next person I see recommend one, I’m going to demand to see a pic of them holding it because I’m sure that many people can’t be that in love with this piece of rubbish!
Motor burnout after 3 years.
This is our second Dyson barrel vac. First one burnt the motor out after 7 years.
Purchased this supposedly bigger and better and more expensive machine 3 years ago. Motor has burnt out once again.
We have a Dyson handheld that gets more use than this and has had no issues.
I guess you don’t get what you pay for.
Purchased in June 2016 for $700.00.
Items get stuck in the brush head and you have to manually remove them. The opening in the brush head for item to go into the vacuum is too small and regularly clogs with dust. Emptying the capacity bin is difficult and clumsy. The quick release handle broke on the vacuum and Dyson does not have this part available on their website. Considering the price for this vacuum I expected much better performance.
Purchased in January 2018.
Not very hardy
Plastic bits are unfortunately easy to break when teenage boys use the vacuum cleaner so now it’s useless-have contacted company about parts via email no response as yet-hope they can replace the part

Best vacuum I've used
I use this vac on rugs and hard floors. We have a dog and a cat and there are three adults and two messy kids.
I upgraded from a bag free Hoover and what a difference!
There's no messing about with this one - everything gets sucked up and because it's bagless you see it happening. My rugs haven't ever had such a thorough clean.
I like the fact you can clean the filters yourself and don't have the added expense of buying replacements.
The parts click neatly together and can be easily taken apart.
It's a very attractive-looking machine, which i...

I absolutely HATE this machine
Bought 4th July 2018 for $508.18 from Billy Guyatts
Simply put this vacuum is a terrible vacuum in every metric that counts.
We have the multi-floor variant with the muscle head and it is primarily used on porcelain tiles and timber floors. It is also used on two small carpeted rooms, but its main use is on hard floors, for which it is supposedly suited.
The things it does well:
* it turn on
The things it does badly:...* more likely to push things around than suck them up * has almost no edge suction * Clogs constantly. Suck up a scrap of paper the size of a postage stamp. The "muscle" head will clog. Suck up some thing like a scrunched up bit of paper the size of a marble and it will jam INSIDE the cylinder. Dried leaf - jam, random bit of kids crap - jam, an offcut bit of toast on the floor - jam. * the head is narrow - never thought of this before buying it, but the head is narrow, at least 30% less than my electrolux I had before so it takes 30% longer to vacuum the same area. * The power lead is short. So short I have to use an extension lead to actually reach every part of the house. * the actual suction is pathetic. Want to grab that bit of crap down in the runner of your sliding door? You will have to get the narrow fittings out because without the fittings to narrow the intakes there is hardly any suction at all * Emptying the tank is a mission. The slide to release the base of the tank doesn't like moving and once you have emptied it you need to wrangle it down, lift bits with your finger nails because it wont slide and get covered in dust to close it. * WORST part is the tank will often open as you remove it from the body! The bottom of the tank is held on with a tiny clip that relies on the latent spring in moulded plastic. It is not a positive fitting and 50% of the time I end up with all the crap dumped over the machine when I remove the tank. First photo shows the clip and how it has popped. * If you have people with long hair in your house hold the hair will bind around the steel mesh filter inside the tank. This will drop the suction by half in next to no time and this machine doesn't have any suction to spare. Second photo shows hair clogging after 10 mins. * the ball rolls over constantly. Sure it rights itself, but it just rolls over itself constantly. In summary, for hard floors a broom is 1000000 times better. For everything else a $40 vacuum from Kmart would destroy it. I've had this vacuum for over 6 months now and every time I use it it makes me angry. The trigger for this review was yet another dump of its tank all over itself when I tried to empty it. Do yourself a favour, buy literally ANY other machine on the market. A dustbuster with a dying battery would be a better investment.

It Suck But A Disappointing Head.
I have long been loyal to and a fan of the Dyson brand but having recently purchased a Big Ball Allergy from David Jones I am genuinely disappointed. While build quality is all that you would expect from the Dyson, the turbine head attached to this unit is woeful, on hard floors it will not pick up anything larger than a dust particle, kicking anything larger about not leaving floors clean. The suction is good but this unit of little to no use to anyone who has a hard or wooden floor without purchasing a dedicated hardwood floor head. Given the...price point, in my view this should be included with the vacuum - the turbine head simply does not work on hard floors. March 2nd 2019 Update: Great disappointment. Don't believe the 'reinvention of the vacuum' spin. The Big Ball Kinetic, Allergy is a great disappointment. Correct me if I am wrong but I was of view that the intention of the invention is to lift dust and dirt from a floor surfaces - it fails to do so. The heads do not work well. We own the power head (supplied with the unit) and later purchased the swivel hard floor tool. The power head, on hard floors can only be described as ordinary at best. It successfully brushes dirt but takes as many as three to four passes to collect. It is also incapable of picking up a leaf or anything larger than a 10c piece - Something a 1980's hoover was/is very capable of. The hard floor head is not a great deal better, the thing struggles to pick up a very small, dry dog biscuit. As a consumer I feel the brand place the belief in their our technology ahead of form and function. The vacuum, at a high price point, does not work well and causes much frustration - a great shame as I first purchased the original Dyson some 15 years ago, and it worked. Very well. I will be shelving my most recent Big Ball purchase and will not be buying another.

Questions & Answers
Dyson - I am very excited about my new vacuum and think I may just have to figure out how to work some aspects. I have used it four or five times. I have had a few trial and error mistakes with the bin not being properly closed and vacuuming dirt all over. Hopefully I've solved that. My turbine head seems very noisy and I'm thinking I probably should be wearing ear protectors. I thought maybe something is clogging it - I have cleaned the brushes on the turbine head a few times as my long hair is wrapping around the roller. I have removed it all but still very noisy and I'm feeling the suction isn't as good as it was the first day. My husband tried it and it was too loud for him and he operates our leaf blower with enthusiasm. The wand seems to be fastened properly. I do feel like it is a simple fix but I just can't find what it is.
When I vacuum carpet with my Dyson Big Ball it doesn't seem to pick up what is on the floor but instead seems to collect it then sucks it back out onto the floor. Any recommendations on how to stop this?
This is not to be expected and we are keen to assist.
Please forward your query and the serial number of your machine tor Dyson Experts via Live Chat, Facebook Messenger or phone and we will be happy to help.
We look forward to hearing from you and assisting.
My cinetic big ball cannister wont stay closed at the bottom - every tume i remove it all the dirt empties all over floor. It doesnt clip closed at all
This is a feature of the obstinate Big Ball !
Didn't they tell you !
The suction inlet gets blocked with anything bigger than a gnats testicle.
So you have to open it to clear the obstruction.
Good idea never to open your machine inside the house.
Oh I don't have a problem with suction. But I do have a problem with the clip at bottom of cylinder. Wont stay closed. Dirt everywhere
We are sorry to hear the bin is opening on your machine when not expected. Sometimes, this can happen if the bin is pushed back up into position without closing the trap door first. We encourage closing the trap door, then pushing the bin back up into position.
If this is how you already close the bin or this continues, please just get in touch with our Dyson Experts and we will be happy to help get this sorted. You can find our contact details here: https://www.dyson.com.au/support/contact-us
