Dyson Cinetic Big Ball
Multi Floor, Animal Pro, Animal, etc...Reviewer Photos & Videos
Is not suitable for all floor types, despite the advertising saying so
This vacuum doesn't work on carpet at all - it leaves large clumps of hair and dust in its wake. I have now been told by support that this cleaner is not suitable for carpet, despite the website stating that the cleaner works on all floor types. Very disappointed at what a waste of money it has been - I am now looking at selling it and will buy another brand. The ball is also heavy and needs to be carried over wooden floors so it doesn't leave any scratches.
Purchased in October 2019.

Great suction, but starts to leave scratches on wooden floor
I have this Dyson for quite a while now, but since a few weeks it leaves a scratches on my wooden floor.
It looks like the shoe cover below the MuscleHead has become too thin to not make the whole head run without rubbing the floor and leave marks.
Even after putting the head on the minimum suction, it still leaves mark.
I end up not using it anymore. That's a shame because it's my first Dyson.

Dyson that didn't live up to it's claims.
I had my Dyson for about 3 years. From the start, I wasn't a fan with my Dyson. I hated cleaning the dust bin. The dirt would stick to the top of the unit. I would have to pull the dirt out and tap it to shake the fine dust out. The dirt at the top of the unit would stick and I would have to rub it off. Recently the suction power has weakened, almost to no suction at all. I empty the dust bin after every use and I still experience loss of suction. It's messy and unpleasant to clean the dust bin. My Dyson was a disappointment and didn't live up to it's claims. I'm going to buy a different kind of vacuum, that I don't have to work so hard to clean.
Purchased in March 2017.

s/Dyson-Cinetic-Big-Ball/214890-01/not-working/pick-up-issue In terms of dust sticking, the machine should eject the dust when the bin slides down and open, however in the event there is some stubborn debris, this should be easily rectified by closing and reopening the bin.Similar opinion? Ideal for small fall and on carpet and tiled surfaces
I used this in a 57sq m carpeted flat and on a tiled bathroom floor and tiled balcony. It is easy to manipulate and manoeuvre. The powerful suction left surfaces dust free. The ejection of debris is easy and the multiple fittings are ideal for all areas. Recommended.

not as good as the older models
Have been using dyson vacuum for the past twenty years, this is the worst model that I ever had. First, the new quick-release mechanism doesn't work well. Its hard to release or connect it to the main hose or wand. And then the worst part is to empty the container bin. The red release button doesn't really pushes dirt out or the barrel, alot of the time the dirt/dust get stucked at the top of the barrel and need to remove it by hand. Also the opening lid will cover of dust when emptying, so cleaning the lid (especially the plastic rubber seal) is required.
Purchased in May 2020 at The Good Guys for A$449.00.

Broke just a few months after purchase
I was happily vacuuming the carpet just over 5 months after buying it on boxing Day sales and it snapped broken in my hand. The big extended tube links with a piece to the handle, that piece is glued or fused somehow and it's become unglued. Customer care were nice after an 8' wait on the phone but even though another part will be sent to my home it will take up to 14 days and Customer care representative offered no solution as to how I can manage without vacuuming in the meantime.
Really disappointed that I finally decide to go for the reputable and expensive Dyson brand and it lasts the least of all the vacuum cleaners I have ever had.
Hoping this is not the first of a series of breakdowns and it's just a one off.

Poor suction. Very disappointed.
Very poor suction through the head.not worth the money. Used on hard floor and carpet. Carpet head was slightly better than the hard floor one but suction still not adequate.

Very disappointed, not worth the money.
We bought this Dyson after having 15 years faithful service from our previous Dyson.
We are extremely disappointed with the Dyson Cinetic Big Ball Animal Pro.
The problem with this one is mostly the emptying motion. It is like some fancy designer who has never used one got the contract. The bottom flops open and the barrel moves down just enough to cover the fine mesh filter making it difficult to clean out. Then it doesn't always clip back together properly. I am also wondering for the price why did they become so stingy with the cord length. It is about 2m shorter than the old unit and never seems to be just long enough.
The current Dyson cleaners are nowhere near the quality of earlier models. I would never buy one again.

Disappointed
Works great on tiles, struggles on carpet floors. Has anyone else found it just doesn’t pick a great deal up on carpet floors? I have tried all settings and find I am constantly picking up after it like I do for my infant child. I’ve previously owned older model Dyson that worked great on carpet. Disappointed.

Going away from basics - a failed model
This is my fourth Dyson vacuum and it has been disappointing. I have now used it for about 8 months and so its not based on just an initial use. It appears that Dyson has focussed too hard on creating more and more suction and not enough on ergonomics and user friendliness. The multi floor head design is poor requiring a lot of physical effort to use on hard floors and downright impossible to move it around on carpets and this is on the low suction setting! Vacuum cleaners are supposed to be manoeuvred with little effort and not become a gym ...Read more
session. My first Dyson (DCO8T) was probably the best Dyson I had and it has been progressively downhill since then. I have been advised that there is another attachment head that I can purchase for $135 but surely a $700 vacuum cleaner should work well with its default attachments. Lets not even go to the issue of models having different sized attachments so you can't use previous attachments with the newer models or the canister emptying latch being so flimsy as to becoming almost a no-touch opening device.Purchased in June 2019 at David Jones.

I miss my old Dyson
After owning a Dyson for 12 years why would I buy anything else... I was excited to see the benefits of 12 years of R&D how sad it was to go so far backwards and wish I never upgraded. The dust lid doesn't always lock properly and spills dust when you remove it, it is hard to move around especially doors, the attachments are always clogged and had to buy special tooling to disassemble clean the dust and hair from the belt and cogs in the head myself instead of always sending it back for repair. My Wife prefers using my $90 Bunnings shop vacuum as it does a better job.

Not as good as my original Dyson
My first Dyson nearly 10 years ago was amazing, this one is still good on hard floors (where I could use a broom) but a real struggle to get carpet clean. I have to scrub the carpet then often pick up a ball of fluff or kids hair my hand & feed it into the suction. Its mildly better than my $70 Aldi special but nearly 10x the price. No its not blocked just ineffective on carpet. Surely I dont have to spend 100s extra on an animal head to actually pick anything up from the carpet? I persisted for 3 months as I was so excited to have a Dyson again but now I just want my money back and a vacuum that works on carpet! Oh, and emptying it is a nightmare, dust everywhere from the cheap plastic release button that often gets stuck!

Very brittle plastic.
Functionally it is a vacuum with strong suction, too strong for carpet without reducing the suction. That said, I am not happy with the construction, after 12 months 3 plastic parts have broken in normal use. Another is failing, the barrel has star cracks on the underside where it is buried in the machine. All told poor construction, the plastic is too brittle.

Sturdy and reliable vacuum with good suction
I was very excited to upgrade my existing Dyson V6 Slim cordless to this model because I was slowly loosing patience with the short 20 minute runtime of the V6 Vs 3 hour charge. So I felt that going to a corded vacuum would be a massive improvement.
I have to say I was really pleasantly surprised. The number of attachments and heads that come with this is just phenomenal (compared to the couple that came with the V6). Dyson have really made a vacuum that suits everyone, there's a head for carpet (my primary usage), hard floors, animal dander/ ...Read more
hair, a regular long piece, a stair piece and also a few others so it feels like value for money. Setting it up was straight forward and as a previous Dyson user I had no issues, the tube has an extension at the bottom which allows further reach of up to around 50cm - this is great as I have a bad back and I don't like spending a lot of time bending over (vacuuming with back straight). So I got very excited to plug it in and see the difference, as presumably this would have more umph as the power is from the mains rather than battery. And it definitely lived up to this expectation. Testing out the suction in motion appeared to be stronger than my V6 and the sound was nicer - more deeper than a whining, higher pitched noise. I love the 'ball' feature, it actually works, my hubby tried kicking it a few times and it kept rolling back. One other thing I like about this compared to my V6 is that it doesn't have a filter. Recently my V6 started pulsing, where it would only suction for a few seconds then stop and re-start. I had no idea what was going on, so I went on YouTube and realised that the filter needed cleaning - did this and it started working as normal. So it's nice this doesn't have a filter so avoiding this issue. My two gripes with the machine however, is the weight and bulky-ness. It is fairly heavy to lug around the house over a carpet and carrying it by hand is a bit tedious. It's also fairly bulky compared to my V6 which is just a stick and can be stored easily, this one has to have a dedicated space, so it's not ideal if you're tight for space. On the whole I am pleased with this vacuum. It gives a fresh clean of the carpets and it is easy to empty and holds more dust than its predecessors. If they could make a 'light' version of it I would be over the moon.Purchased in September 2019.

A solid performer that apartment owners would love
Disclaimer: I am a Productreview.com.au Ambassador and will be reviewing the unit provided to me by Dyson.
Let me set the scene for you. We are what you’d call a house proud family. We regularly vacuum, disinfect and tidy. We live in a large three-bedroom with both tiling and carpeted areas. We also have a three-year-old boy who, typical of three-year-old boys, is not so house proud.

erformers. We also have a small Dyson handheld but only use this for spot cleans due to the limited battery and waste capacity. My wife works in retail and has access to the previous Dyson Animal model at work, so I had the opportunity to compare and see where the Animal+ improves. So now that we’ve established that I’m no stranger to vacuums, I think it’s important to establish what questions I had of the Animal+, what my expectations were and the kinds of performance criteria I would be evaluating: • How does it perform in real world scenarios? • Is the build quality up to scratch?Purchased in September 2019.

Mostly good but some area for improvement
This is a review from your average household user, so I wont go into the technical side about the vacuum.
We have an antic vacuum cleaner that still uses bag, which is a nightmare to purchase and replace all the time. We also have a bag less stick vacuum that does the job easily but has a very short battery life and takes forever to recharge.

not know what they were for. The instruction booklet was really useless as it has hardly any information inside. Corded Big Ball vs Cordless V10? Why is better and why?
The Dyson Cinetic Big Ball Animal is a great, solid vacuum cleaner for the whole home. I own a Dyson V10 Absoulte+, so my initial impressions will firstly cover the Big Ball on its own, and then compare it to the Dyson V10.
Out of the box, the Big Ball looks fantastic.
It cleans the carpet excellently, and because it runs through the power point, the power and suction are great. The normal head does a good job at my thick wool carpet, and for the corners, the corner attachment is more than enough. My carpet is really thick, and the Dyson has no...Read more

Dyson Cinetic Big Ball Animal+
Introduction
In the world of vacuum cleaners, I suspect there are few people who haven’t heard of Dyson as a brand and of James Dyson’s reputation as a British Inventor. Dysons design some of the most innovative vacuum cleaners that many of us would like to have in our homes. James Dyson came up with the idea of the worlds first bagless vacuum cleaner in the 1970s after being frustrated with his own vacuum cleaner and his experience with the old bag system that constantly clogged up with dust and reduced the s...Read more
uction performance. James Dyson demonstrates very clearly in adverts that he wishes to invent things to perform better and to their maximum potential. I was given this great opportunity to test the Dyson Cinetic Big Ball Animal Plus, the second to the highest in the Dyson Cinetic Big Ball range. The top of the range is the Dyson Cinetic Big Ball Absolute. It just so happens I was thinking of getting my apartment professionally cleaned as the carpet was looking like it needed professional attention. My generic vacuum cleaner was not doing a very good job of what it was supposed to do, vacuum the carpet and make it look like the carpet had been vacuumed. It was a perfect test, to see how the Dyson Cinetic Big Ball Animal Plus would perform.Purchased in September 2019.

I was very impressed with the Dyson Big Ball Animal from the time I opened the carton.
The simple and neat way the contents were packed made it easy to remove and assemble the vacuum cleaner and use it.
It only took a few minutes to get everything going.
The quality and thought put into this unit is very impressive from first glance.
The attachments fit very well and are easy to connect and click together securely.
There are no loose fitting hoses or attachments; you have everything you could want for (normal) house cleaning supplied in the car...Read more

Oh yes!
This is a feature of the obstinate Big Ball !
Didn't they tell you !
The suction inlet gets blocked with anything bigger than a gnats testicle.
So you have to open it to clear the obstruction.
Good idea never to open your machine inside the house.
Oh I don't have a problem with suction. But I do have a problem with the clip at bottom of cylinder. Wont stay closed. Dirt everywhere

We are sorry to hear the bin is opening on your machine when not expected. Sometimes, this can happen if the bin is pushed back up into position without closing the trap door first. We encourage closing the trap door, then pushing the bin back up into position.
