Waste of money
Worst vacum ive ever used. Flicks small bits of crumbs everywhere...!! What a waste of money.. after just 2 uses I am back to using my $100 kmart vacuum ' which I thought was crap until I used dyson!!! The kmart 1 is way better. I want my money back!!
Purchased in January 2021 for $500.00.
Extremely disappointed
The Dyson Big Ball is an absolute disappointment. It’s hard to pull and constantly rolls over when going round corners. On the side of the head the two ends keep falling off with the slightest bit of hair or dust on it. The purple foam strip along the bottom of the head had totally come off. This has all happened in no more than 15 months of use. I’m so disappointed. All the hype about Dyson being a great brand. So disappointed. I’m getting in touch with our supplier to see what can be done, otherwise I have very expensive vacuum cleaner sitting in a wardrobe not being used.

Very hard to empty and refit barrel
Suction is good, that’s where it ends. The barrel will often empty itself as you remove it from the vacuum cleaner dropping its contents all over the bottom inside of the vacuum cleaner. You then need another vacuum cleaner to clean it up before you can put the barrel back on. So buy spare to clean the cleaner.
If you do manage to get the barrel to a bin before it drops its guts then it is very tricky to close the barrel after emptying it. You need to left a small grey tab that is a bit awkward to get at although not too bad. This releases the...

Can't handle dog fur
Very expensive below-average vacuum cleaner. Carbon fibre turbine died, took it apart and freed up the hair clogging the bearing thanks to a youtube video showing me how to do it. Dyson uses star-head screws to prevent consumers from fixing their own parts. It freed up and started to work again but I think it might need more grease now because it seizes up even faster than it used to. Also unable to buy replacements for this specific head because it has been out of stock in Australia for over 6 months. I have been checking the Dyson web page si...
Read morence June last year, still not available and possibly even discontinued? (I can only see the dual floor head and that has been out of stock forever). Suction is not bad but not amazing for a modern cleaner. Mostly the issue lies in that carbon fibre turbine head... the bristles have burned away, specifically the black ones which I assume as supposed to be said carbon fibre bristles. They're all gone, eroded into oblivion after about 1.5 years of use. The replacement turbine is also unavailable to buy. Don't buy Dyson. I've heard awful things about their more expensive cordless stick vacuums too.Purchased in April 2018 for $700.00.

This vacuum doesn't work on carpet at all - it leaves large clumps of hair and dust in its wake. I have now been told by support that this cleaner is not suitable for carpet, despite the website stating that the cleaner works on all floor types. Very disappointed at what a waste of money it has been - I am now looking at selling it and will buy another brand. The ball is also heavy and needs to be carried over wooden floors so it doesn't leave any scratches.

Always had Dyson in last 20years and am disapointed
You take the barrel off every 2nd time and it opens on the floor, I make sure it's clicked in properly ( base to barrel) but it still does it. Is there a fix for this ??? any help would be appreciated

Not a good choice
Too heavy and cumbersome to move. End up carrying it around the house - which is not ideal. Worst point is that it does not actual suck up the dirt. It kind of pushes everything around and ends up with in clumps, which I guess is easier to pick up. I have no idea why people rave over this brand. Could not be more disappointed.

Great suction, but starts to leave scratches on wooden floor
I have this Dyson for quite a while now, but since a few weeks it leaves a scratches on my wooden floor.
It looks like the shoe cover below the MuscleHead has become too thin to not make the whole head run without rubbing the floor and leave marks.
Even after putting the head on the minimum suction, it still leaves mark.
I end up not using it anymore. That's a shame because it's my first Dyson.

Really great machine but
Got this machine a few months ago to replace my dc08 turbine after the second motor went out. I had high expectations and they were all met it picks up the dirt like nothing else. the tangle free turbine is a great improvement from older models and I love the fact that’s there’s no filters to clean or replace. there is some downfalls 1. The bin never fills up evenly all the dirt will fill all the way to the top at the back and there will be none at the front of the bin. This is a issue my old Dyson only did when sucked up a lot of dirt at one time. 2. I have read reviews that the bin open randomly and yes that has happened to me but only once. Other than that it’s worth the money and a great product

Dyson that didn't live up to it's claims.
I had my Dyson for about 3 years. From the start, I wasn't a fan with my Dyson. I hated cleaning the dust bin. The dirt would stick to the top of the unit. I would have to pull the dirt out and tap it to shake the fine dust out. The dirt at the top of the unit would stick and I would have to rub it off. Recently the suction power has weakened, almost to no suction at all. I empty the dust bin after every use and I still experience loss of suction. It's messy and unpleasant to clean the dust bin. My Dyson was a disappointment and didn't live up to it's claims. I'm going to buy a different kind of vacuum, that I don't have to work so hard to clean.

We are sorry to hear you are experiencing a loss of suction. We would kindly encourage running through the troubleshooting outlined here: https://support.dyson.com.au/supportHome.aspx/Vacuums/Cylinder...
Read mores/Dyson-Cinetic-Big-Ball/214890-01/not-working/pick-up-issue In terms of dust sticking, the machine should eject the dust when the bin slides down and open, however in the event there is some stubborn debris, this should be easily rectified by closing and reopening the bin.saphireAdelaide

Not worth the money, unlike older Dysons. Design flaws plague this model.
As I've had this vacuum for a few years now, I feel I am now able to provide a comprehensive review of its abilities. We used to have a Dyson upright that had served us well but we weren't a fan of how heavy it was to push and how difficult it was to use the tightly retracted hose without the unit tipping over, so we decided to stay within the brand and purchase a more familiar barrel-type vacuum (like our previous ones), despite this being the most we spent on a vacuum, which was reasonable when expecting this to last many years. We spent extr...
Read morea on the Allergy variant as we were interested in the turbine brush for use on carpeting. The truth is, it isn't really that great on any floor surface. On my old house's laminate floors, the floor tool simply pushed dirt around rather than sucking it in unless you made a conscious effort to go over dust very slowly. On tile, it's marginally better but not very much so. On carpet, it was fine initially on shallow loop pile carpet, but on any cut pile rug/carpeting (still shallow), it struggles to pick up surface level dust even with a clean bin and otherwise good suction. The floor tool despite it being Dyson's "best", needs constant passes just to get surface level dust, let alone embedded dust which there's no way of proving if it is removed or not. We never wear our outdoor shoes inside so the carpets never get too dirty, but for those who do, I doubt this machine will inspire any confidence as it is already struggling with regular house dust. The BIGGEST issue with this machine is the design flaws and poor build quality. The most troublesome issue is the weak latch mechanism on the bin. It is a small bit of plastic which holds the bin shut but I have faced the same issue many have complained about since the very beginning, which despite how tight and secure it is when installing the bin, upon removal, the bin lid will flip open and dump all the dust you’ve been vacuuming up back onto your floors. I’ve attached an image of the size of the catch, beside a 20c coin for scale. It is absolutely tiny and over time as the motor’s heat/vibration makes the plastic mechanisms not as tightly sealed as it is brand new (this part sits right up beside the motor), it is able to slide away from the catch. I cannot fathom why they would cheap out on this vital piece, when they simply could’ve made a wider ridge for the hook to catch on. To date, I’ve gone back to Dyson numerous times and they just keep sending me the same flawed bin which works fine initially but then exhibits the same issue after less than a year (and I don’t even vacuum very frequently). I cannot trust it anymore and have to have my hand under the container as I carefully walk to my bin to empty it. That brings me to the emptying part – it’s nowhere near as easy or hygienic as they make it seem. The bottom lid gets dust and hair in its crevices, and as with any other bagless there seems to be a small plume of dust that flies around as you empty it. Many times, I’ve had to even use my hands to aid clumps of dust out into an old plastic bag. I cannot believe this is marketed towards ALLERGY sufferers, I don’t have any allergies and it’s sickening enough emptying this one and its poorly designed bin without dust flying everywhere. Within a year, in early 2017, the wheel fell of the unit and upon inspection, it was an in-warranty repair as the heat generated by the unit had weakened the plastic attachment. It had to be sent back to Dyson to be attached back on. That was pretty disappointing as I’ve never once had that happen on previous models but the wheel on this unit seems to be a thin disc of plastic built more for aesthetics than function, but I’m just glad it happened within the warranty period. I’ve paid for the extended warranty a couple of years back as the manufacturer’s warranty was about to end and the machine had given me enough worries as it is. Now that is about to end soon and overall, given the disappointing price to performance ratio of this vacuum, this is the very last Dyson I will own. I’ve always believed in the bagless hype but after seeing that even this the ‘ultimate’ bagless vacuum, has not been appreciably better and in some cases worse than my previous one, I may very well get my very first bagged vacuum (going by Product Review, I seemed to have found some top-rated Mieles, plus I’ve already had good experiences with the brand, so I am tempted). I was never a fan of consumables but seeing what a pain this is in terms of maintenance and emptying, my mind is now open to alternatives. Just don’t fall for the marketing – the whole bin design is flawed and it is NOT a pleasant experience dealing with this in the long run – but then again this is a brand that demonises well-priced traditional alternatives to sell you their own $800 tower fan or $500 hairdryer, so why am I surprised that quality went down the drain and margins shot up with this most-recent series of vacuums. Never again…Purchased in May 2016 at Dyson for $599.25.

Pneumatic head useless on carpet
After years of a conventional cleaner we decided to go for a Dyson. So far that seems a mistake. We were advised by the salesperson in JB Hi Fi to go for this multi floor pneumatic after describing our floors. It was more expensive dive but we thought this would be good. We can’t even push the head over our medium pile carpet and the finer carpet sticks like a limpet mine. Surely Dyson are smarter than this. So now after more than $500 we still don’t have a vacuum cleaner to clean our house properly. Very disappointed in our first Dyson product.
Purchased in June 2020 at JB Hi-Fi for $540.00.

Ideal for small fall and on carpet and tiled surfaces
I used this in a 57sq m carpeted flat and on a tiled bathroom floor and tiled balcony. It is easy to manipulate and manoeuvre. The powerful suction left surfaces dust free. The ejection of debris is easy and the multiple fittings are ideal for all areas. Recommended.

not as good as the older models
Have been using dyson vacuum for the past twenty years, this is the worst model that I ever had. First, the new quick-release mechanism doesn't work well. Its hard to release or connect it to the main hose or wand. And then the worst part is to empty the container bin. The red release button doesn't really pushes dirt out or the barrel, alot of the time the dirt/dust get stucked at the top of the barrel and need to remove it by hand. Also the opening lid will cover of dust when emptying, so cleaning the lid (especially the plastic rubber seal) is required.

Broke just a few months after purchase
I was happily vacuuming the carpet just over 5 months after buying it on boxing Day sales and it snapped broken in my hand. The big extended tube links with a piece to the handle, that piece is glued or fused somehow and it's become unglued. Customer care were nice after an 8' wait on the phone but even though another part will be sent to my home it will take up to 14 days and Customer care representative offered no solution as to how I can manage without vacuuming in the meantime.
Really disappointed that I finally decide to go for the reputable and expensive Dyson brand and it lasts the least of all the vacuum cleaners I have ever had.
Hoping this is not the first of a series of breakdowns and it's just a one off.

Not impressed!
Purchased the Bigball multifloor after the old Dyson DC37 finally stopped after years of faithful service. Thought I'd upgrade to a better machine with this unit. Wrong!
If it's called multifloor why is it not good on carpet? Suction is great but the stupid pneumatic head is a waste of time and useless. It just leaves a clump of dog hair either in front when pushing or behind when pulling.
Contacted Dyson and was told I could buy another more suitable head for $140.
Why would I do that when I've just spent $500 on a "multifloor" vacuum?
Save your money and buy an old 37, wish I had.

One badly designed vacuum cleaner for a lot of money!
This vacuum cleaner is very unpractical, the head is too heavy and too big, the telescopic pipe is very bulky, all the accessories are separate from the cleaner so you have to store them somewhere (all accessories were attached on the cleaner on our old Dyson). The switches for turning the cleaner on and off and for retracting the power lead are very unpractical, they look like they will break if you try to use your feet. The worst of all is the emptying the canister with the collected dust and dirt, prior to removing the canister the bottom op...

My Dyson Animal lasted two years. It's use has been household carpet and vinyl flooring. A few days ago the unit started producing a screaming sound which I took to be a bearing failure. I fitted a new motor and. Upon examining the old motor found the end cap on the motor housing had fatigued totally and allowed the amature to contact the outer section. The casing is unbelievably thin.

Very disappointed, not worth the money.
We bought this Dyson after having 15 years faithful service from our previous Dyson.
We are extremely disappointed with the Dyson Cinetic Big Ball Animal Pro.
The problem with this one is mostly the emptying motion. It is like some fancy designer who has never used one got the contract. The bottom flops open and the barrel moves down just enough to cover the fine mesh filter making it difficult to clean out. Then it doesn't always clip back together properly. I am also wondering for the price why did they become so stingy with the cord length. It is about 2m shorter than the old unit and never seems to be just long enough.
The current Dyson cleaners are nowhere near the quality of earlier models. I would never buy one again.

We have had our CY22 for a couple of year but it has just started making this very loins siren sound after a few seconds of running. It’s not the motor as the pitch of the sound changes with airflow and is opposite to motor speed(lower sound higher revs and vice versa). Bin is regularly emptied.

Dyson - I am very excited about my new vacuum and think I may just have to figure out how to work some aspects. I have used it four or five times. I have had a few trial and error mistakes with the bin not being properly closed and vacuuming dirt all over. Hopefully I've solved that. My turbine head seems very noisy and I'm thinking I probably should be wearing ear protectors. I thought maybe something is clogging it - I have cleaned the brushes on the turbine head a few times as my long hair is wrapping around the roller. I have removed it all but still very noisy and I'm feeling the suction isn't as good as it was the first day. My husband tried it and it was too loud for him and he operates our leaf blower with enthusiasm. The wand seems to be fastened properly. I do feel like it is a simple fix but I just can't find what it is.
