One badly designed vacuum cleaner for a lot of money!
This vacuum cleaner is very unpractical, the head is too heavy and too big, the telescopic pipe is very bulky, all the accessories are separate from the cleaner so you have to store them somewhere (all accessories were attached on the cleaner on our old Dyson). The switches for turning the cleaner on and off and for retracting the power lead are very unpractical, they look like they will break if you try to use your feet. The worst of all is the emptying the canister with the collected dust and dirt, prior to removing the canister the bottom op...ens by itself and all the dirt just falls on the floor, it is very frustrating. The only good thing on this model is the suction, it is very strong. We really miss our old Dyson which we had for 12 years, the only reason we went with Dyson again is that we trusted we would get another great vacuum cleaner.
Purchased in March 2020 for A$499.00.
Motors in these are absolute rubbish
My Dyson Animal lasted two years. It's use has been household carpet and vinyl flooring. A few days ago the unit started producing a screaming sound which I took to be a bearing failure. I fitted a new motor and. Upon examining the old motor found the end cap on the motor housing had fatigued totally and allowed the amature to contact the outer section. The casing is unbelievably thin.
Purchased in September 2018 for A$699.00.
Poor suction. Very disappointed.
Very poor suction through the head.not worth the money. Used on hard floor and carpet. Carpet head was slightly better than the hard floor one but suction still not adequate.
Very disappointed, not worth the money.
We bought this Dyson after having 15 years faithful service from our previous Dyson.
We are extremely disappointed with the Dyson Cinetic Big Ball Animal Pro.
The problem with this one is mostly the emptying motion. It is like some fancy designer who has never used one got the contract. The bottom flops open and the barrel moves down just enough to cover the fine mesh filter making it difficult to clean out. Then it doesn't always clip back together properly. I am also wondering for the price why did they become so stingy with the cord length. It is about 2m shorter than the old unit and never seems to be just long enough.
The current Dyson cleaners are nowhere near the quality of earlier models. I would never buy one again.
Not worth It
Purchased 3 years ago & only tried to use it twice before putting it in garage as after going over an over fluff on the carpet I had to bend down and pick it up. ( So just use my v6 slim cordless) Thought it was my carpet 3 yrs later it’s still new so just tried on my mums carpet as it’s been just sitting in the box unused and the same thing happens it sucks on your hand but picks hardly anything up after 10mins use the V6 slim again is full in minutes!!
Design disaster do not buy
The multi floor head is a constant struggle. It makes vacuuming carpets a nightmare. Instead of gliding over the carpet like every other vacuum I have ever used this thing lowers the blue strips that are supposed to be brushes and drags badly. Pushing the head is not possible. You have to lift, place it in position and pull heavily towards you.
The top handle is downright stupid. because it is a loop above the tube, it twists your wrist badly.
What a piece of rubbish
This vacuum cleaner has tripled my time spent vacuuming. It makes a great whirring sound which sounds like it is working, it has a furiously rotating brush inside the head, however, it is all froth and bubble. It kicks dirt out everywhere, and when you think you might have at last sucked it up, you turn the head and it all falls out. Is someone having a joke with me? Where are the cameras? This is the first Dyson I have ever bought thinking it might help with my sons allergies (given the name), but I do not for the life of me know how this coul...d help one iota with a kid who suffers dust mite allergies. When you dispense the dirt you have to be very careful not to release it and make more dirt then if the catch gets dirt in it, it is very difficult to do up again. I am awaiting the day when this function will fail. Thanks for making my life more difficult Dyson.
Works great on tiles, struggles on carpet floors. Has anyone else found it just doesn’t pick a great deal up on carpet floors? I have tried all settings and find I am constantly picking up after it like I do for my infant child. I’ve previously owned older model Dyson that worked great on carpet. Disappointed.
Purchased in January 2020 for A$500.00.
The musclehead of this vacuum cleaner is total rubbish - ridiculously designed. We have had other Dyson vacuum cleaners which were well designed, but this one really "sucks." Suction is so great the muscle head sticks to the the carpet and scratches the polished floors even on the low suction setting. It's not called a "muscle head" for nothing!! So brutal to move - needs to be more like a hovercraft than a limpid clam. The designers certainly need to go back to the drawing boards. Meanwhile here I am cursing and looking for an alternative head with bristles instead of hard plastic ribbing.
Going away from basics - a failed model
This is my fourth Dyson vacuum and it has been disappointing. I have now used it for about 8 months and so its not based on just an initial use. It appears that Dyson has focussed too hard on creating more and more suction and not enough on ergonomics and user friendliness. The multi floor head design is poor requiring a lot of physical effort to use on hard floors and downright impossible to move it around on carpets and this is on the low suction setting! Vacuum cleaners are supposed to be manoeuvred with little effort and not become a gym ...session. My first Dyson (DCO8T) was probably the best Dyson I had and it has been progressively downhill since then. I have been advised that there is another attachment head that I can purchase for $135 but surely a $700 vacuum cleaner should work well with its default attachments. Lets not even go to the issue of models having different sized attachments so you can't use previous attachments with the newer models or the canister emptying latch being so flimsy as to becoming almost a no-touch opening device.

Picks up so much unseen dirt!
Just purchased this today from Harvey Norman Everton Park. It blows out a large amount of heat. However the amount of dirt it sucked up was outstanding! Actually I was horrified at how much dirt there was in my bedroom! I emptied the barre twice for one bedroom!! And I vacuum regularly - obviously my old vac was not so good after all!!!! The tools are light weight to counteract the heavy barrel. The tools are very useful and there’s plenty of choice and an extra head in the box. I was pleasantly surprised at all the extra tools. The one for cleaning skirting boards worked a charm!! I’d recommend it.
Small and easy to store, but has great suction. Keeps the house clean and so very easy to look after. Capacity of the dust collection could be greater, but apart from that a great product.
Love my Dyson
I have only had this product for 2 months but absolute loving it!!
So easy to move around and the results are great 10x better than my previous vacuum.
Great on all floor types and even great in the car !!

Nothing to fault! Amazing!
i use this vacuum daily on a number of floor types, wood and tile being the main two. It has never let me down. My family have been customers of Dyson our entire lives and refuse to use anything else. There quality is amazing and dealing with complaint, purchases or anything else is always smooth and a positive experience.

Good to very good, lives up to advertised specifications
So I called up Dyson as I wanted to be sure to choose the right model for me.
Initially I was just going to buy the cheapest but then I learned the colour of the machines and names etc mean nothing, they are basically all the same machine with the same suction just different colours, what varies are the vacuum heads/attachments included.
I have 100% hard laminate floors so I was advised to get the step up from the lowest as it comes with attachments for hard wood floors as standard whereas the one lower doesn't and I would have had to have pur...chased it which would have cost me about the same anyway. Use, I have test driven this vac with the standard multifloor extra head it comes with on my laminate floors, it has a slider that controls the amount of suction: Plus: - Great suction on hard surfaces, as that's all I have and am therefore only reviewing that here. It has gates on the front allowing larger objects like a roach or a rice bubble to get sucked in and not just pushed in front. The suction is in fact so substantial that it almost suction caps to the floor lifting dirt from between boards.

I believe in dyson and this is dissapointing.
After 10 years our much loved Dyson died and we decided to get us another Dyson as a replacement. First time when I tried this new one with standard brush head it comes with I seriously tought something was wrong with the suction. I kept checking all the connections and the hose but everything was fine...brush spins so some suction is definitely there but it simply is not enough suction guys, and I mean almost no suction at all to the point that there are small DRY crumbs on the laminated floor/tiles and brush just moves it (does not suck at al...l!!!). Today I found myself pushing crumbs to the wall and then having to remove the head/brush and vacuming directly with the hose opening....that kind of poor suction is not reasonable to come with this rather pricey machine. After having 5 days of hope and thinking that some magic will happen I am at the point of crying now as 5 days in and I am stuck with 2 useless Dyson vacum cleaners. In having said this on a positive note the tiny hair brush was great to remove cat hair from the outside couch but is not even close replacement for regular size brush as one would have to vacuum 3-4 times longer to cover the same surface area as with the regular brush/head. UPDATE: Vacum has been returned to dyson due to above fault as has been requested, it looked clean on return, no papework of work carried out was received. Suction issue still same. Plus one of the brushes was not returned. Annoyed, yes. Dissapointed, yes. Dyson customers have an expectation that is why we choose to spend our money there and to receive a brand new item that is very much bellow expectation without any paperwork/explanation is just not ok.
Do Not Buy Dyson, Never again Dyson
Never again Dyson. We have exhausted our patience with our Dyson cinetic big ball animal pro. Have been loyal Dyson customers for nearly 20 years, this is our 3rd Dyson vacuum, but the Animal Pro vacuum has too many faults, extremely disappointing for a very expensive machine, one would expect total reliability, but it is definitely not fit for purpose, does not do what it is advertised to do, that is to vacuum up dog hair. We bought the Dyson cinetic big ball Animal Pro because we wanted the Dyson pet groom attachment tool. Issues include but...not limited to not picking up dog hair, the reason vacuum was specifically purchased for, just blows dog hair up in air. Dog hair sticks to wand from static, resulting in continually having to turn off to wipe hair off wand to feed into vacuum. Does not vacuum up dust and hair off dry tiled floor. Does not collect dust and hair evenly in barrel, but sticks to top of barrel, which makes emptying messy. Barrel doesn’t fully empty, the clips on the barrel don’t secure properly thus spills contents back on to clean floor requiring the floors to be vacuumed again. I have emailed Dyson to advise them of these problems, that the Animal Pro is not fit for purpose and would appreciate a refund or replacement. Dyson have requested I send the Animal Pro to their service centre, but because of this costly exercise we do not wish to spend any more money on their inferior vacuum. We informed Dyson of our loyal customer of nearly 20 years with serial no of 1st purchase of DCO5 that was recalled by Dyson in 2006 due to Electrical Safety Recall. Then we paid Dyson additional money to upgrade to Dyson DC23. But Dyson are not interested in repaying out loyalty, but intent on insisting we return the Animal Pro for servicing, despite the faults not being serviceable. Dyson have forever lost our custom, we will now be replacing with another brand.

My first Dyson lasted over 30years. It was wonderful. I purchased another 18months ago and I more than disappointed with it. It’s terrible. The brush had already worn. And my new carpets(3yrs) look dirty all time. Tricia Griffiths.
Zero Stars - Don't waste your money
Buying a $800 + vacuum cleaner that promises quality and efficiency removing pet hair, you expect a top quality product that will last you for years. Not with this Dyson.
I'm extremely disappointed that Dyson offer such a poor product. Poorly made that after 2 weeks using this vacuum cleaner (light use around the house) the wheels came off and you can't place it back. Poor hard plastic that once it's broken you can't do anything about it.
Few months down the track, the power button on and off doesn't work properly too. Once you turn on, it ge...t stuck and it's a little mission to turn off. Around the same time the little plastic wheel close to the vacuum head doesn't spin either. Again, poorly built and made. Now we have a fancy broken, 1 year old vacuum that can't be used anymore. We always had cheaper vacuums $150 or so and we NEVER had any built issue with it and lasted us years! Will never buy anything from Dyson again. What a waste of money, DON'T waste your money too!
Purchased in January 2019.
Questions & Answers
my new dyson big ball origin head doesn't seem to pick up dirt rather it just pushes it around causing me to have to lift the head up and place it down on top of dust to get it clean
I had the same problem.
l had to purchase a carbon fibre turbine head of the Dyson website. Not ideal to fork out an extra $120 but now I get a really good clean.

Any debris too large to fit under the floor tool may be pushed along the floor. For larger debris such as this, we would encourage either placing the floor tool directly on top of the debris, or removing the floor tool and using the included combination tool to clean these up.

Hi , I have a dyson cinetic big ball which has started blowing lots of dust out the back of the ball. The filters appear to be clean. What do you think is wrong with it and how do I get it working properly again. It is less than a year old.

We certainly wouldn't anticipate your Cinetic Big Ball machine to expel dust from the exhaust of the machine.
