Forget doing the carpet!
I've found this vacuum ok on hard (tiled) floors but it has the same problem as every other vacuum I've ever used - it doesn't get right into where the floor meets the wall so I have to sweep these areas before I even get the vacuum out.
As for cleaning carpet - forget it! I have tried my vacuum on every possible setting (i.e. the red slide setting mechanism on the cleaning head) and cannot get all the dirt up no matter how many times I go over it.
Sorry, big waste of money!
Would not recommend this vacuum to anyone with carpet of any type.

Big ball animal
This is a fantastic vacuum cleaner I love my Dyson. It has great suction we have hard floor and carpet so does the job well, great attachments easy to use
great suction, pity about the plastic
Although its a great suction unit for getting dog hair off almost everything (with 3 goldens its a must !) I find that the brush bar is not very long lasting - and tends to break off easily - I have had to replace it once in the first 12 months, so that was okay, under warranty, and now it has happened again over the last couple of months, the machine itself is out of warranty, but the brush is only 12 months old, so waiting to see if under warranty - hope so, these days things are not made to last -
Don't Waste Your Money
I saved my money to by this product as it was all that you heard was the best brand money could buy. I had purchased a Miele cat and dog previously but was sick and tired of having to buy bags for it . So I changed. What a terrible decision that was. The first time I used it fabulous heavy duty suction. Then the next time a bit less and within a month no better than the cheap vacuums. So disappointed with this as I spent a lot of money on it. Will never buy another Dyson product overated.
Animal Hair Beware - it’s gone!
Outstanding suction on this vacuum. It has the capacity to collect large particles through to fine dust and handles a range of floor types from carpet to polished concrete. It comes with an attachment to clean animal hair off material furniture which is amazing. It is outstanding for those with lung health issues.
Great suction vacuum cleaner
This cleaner has great suction and you really notice the difference after using a standard cleaner or even a ducted system. The cord retracts like V8 racing car and is easy to empty as well.
If I had to find a 'fault' it would be that when you remove the barrel to empty it the catch on the bottom of the barrel doesn't always attach/close properly and you end up with a mess on the floor when the bottom flap opens. To be fair I showed the agent this problem and they replaced the barrel for me. I still have to be very careful to manually push to catch to make sure it is closed. It seems to be a design fault. Not sure if it needs a larger clip or what could rectify this but in all I love my Dyson.
Easy to use and no filter
Easy to use, great suction and no cleaning of the filter required. The additional attachments are great for stairs and blinds and the new handle means it's easy to push around.
Fantastic vacuum but it does have an issue
My first experience with dyson was with the DC14 which was a great vacuum for it's time, it had no loss of suction and lasted many years. 12 years later the DC14 stopped working and was time for a new vacuum cleaner. Being happy with dyson we bought the Cinetic Big Ball multi floor, this vacuum is different from the others, it has no filter to clean which is great convenience and the canister emptying system is a breeze to use, however I was most impressed with the suction power of this dyson, my carpets were already cleaned but the dyson prove...d otherwise, it filled its canister with debris that could not be seen on the carpets and that was very impressive, I even vacuumed the car with this dyson and once again the dyson left my car looking very clean and once again I was left impressed. I like the ball technology, it helps with keeping the vacuum cleaner on its wheels instead of upside down or on the side, there were occasions where the vacuum would tip over but due to the ball technology the dyson put itself back on it's wheels and that is something that I am really pleased with. There is however a draw back with this specific model and that is the multi floor muscle head which I found to be a handful, especially on carpet where I found myself wresting my way just to vacuum the carpets which is no good if you are trying to vacuum the whole house the head would get stuck on the carpets, I tried putting the setting on the muscle head to its minimum but I still found myself wresting to get vacuming done. My solution was to buy the dyson turbo head and use that for the carpets and use the multi floor muscle head for the hard floors. Overall I'm really impressed with this vacuum cleaner I wouldn't hesitate to recommend it to anyone, however if you are buying the multi floor version you might want to consider buying a turbo head as well, especially if you have carpets as the multi floor muscle head may get stuck regardless of the setting. But if you are looking for a vacuum cleaner that is powerful and easy to use, than this is the perfect vacuum cleaner for you.
Wish I had read the reviews first.
Cheap plastic rubbish. Not what you expect from $500 +. Loved my old Dyson, very dissapointed. Hair blocks barrel which needs manual untangling, blocks dirt going into barrel. Musclehead tool plastic has WORN off in 5 months so it now leaves scuffs on timber floor. Asked for refund for faulty lemon, told no only part replacement. And BUY another part. Seriously Dyson, model is a lemon recall it. Customers are fleeing and wont be back.
It sucks more than it sucks! And not in a good way!
After seeing a heap of recommendations for a Dyson vacuum cleaner, I decided to get a cinetic big ball after my trusty Miele finally blew up. So maybe I’m just an idiot and don’t know how to use the thing properly, or I’ve missed a warning on the instructions in teeny writing saying ‘do not suck anything up bigger than a match head or it’ll block.’ Cos basically that’s what happens. Not only does it block easily, it takes FOREVER taking the thing apart to find which section may be blocked since the hose consists of several stupid bends making i...t easier to block. I spend more time poking various bendy objects into its numerous holes than I do actually using the thing, Im sure if it could orgasm, it would! Thank god the hose comes apart into 100 pieces because it’s the only practical part of the bloody vacuum! And the barrel is ridiculously small, it fills up quickly and is a nightmare to empty! I can’t just tip the crap out, I have to shake the crap out of it and poke things into that part of it too! It gets more pokes than me! I swear those who do recommend them just jump on the bandwagon about how good they are and have never actually used one. The next person I see recommend one, I’m going to demand to see a pic of them holding it because I’m sure that many people can’t be that in love with this piece of rubbish!
Waste of money
Had an old school Dyson years ago and have fumbled our way through a myriad of cheaper alternatives for about 10 years.
Latest purchase was a Big ball allergy - quietly Hoping for quality once again.
Alas, it’s rubbish- outer wheel cover snapped off within 4 weeks. Persevered without it as needed a vacuum cleaner and now the head just flicks crap everywhere and it doesn’t pick anything up. $5 dustpan from BUNNINGS would out perform it.
Now the warranty cycle begins. More cheap plastic crap on the market, trust eroded.
Design Fault = expensive repair
UPDATE: 11 JULY 2019
Dyson rep responded to the below comment. Short version is; the machine was returned to us well packed and in a very short time. The upper ball assembly (the broke component) was replaced. In addition, the technician appears to have identified that the bin assembly was worn and the post filter had a cosmetic fault. The addition problems/components were also fixed/replaced. The repair/replacement came with an additional 2 year warranty on them and there was NO charge for shipping, handling, parts or labour.
Dyson deser...ves to be commended on how they have dealt with the problem. Hopefully, we can go more than two years before a broken axle occurs again. We are most pleased with the outcome. Consequently, I have raised the value for money star rating. Q: What is the chance of a pull along vacuum bumping into corners and large furniture or moving from tile to carpet while using?. Hmmm... 100%! That's what. 2 years old and axle snapped off. Owned Dyson upright, this one and a new stick one. All have issues regarding basic design issues, always get the big things right but issues arise when using them for what they are intended. We are not rough with our equipment.
The Best ..Have had so many!
Everyone has their thing, mine seems to be vacuums, 2 story house with carpet. Have had a couple of Volta's which were ok a Dyson DC08 which seemed to have little suction after awhile.. This one is great (purple model) It is a bit loud and the cat runs a mile but is 10/10. The design makes it easy to use on a staircase as is not bulky. Def recommend!

Love Dyson I use it on carpet and Lino
I use it on carpet and Lino The suction on the Dyson vacuum is fantastic has never tipped over I will never buy A different brand ever again Dyson is the number one
Items get stuck in the brush head and you have to manually remove them. The opening in the brush head for item to go into the vacuum is too small and regularly clogs with dust. Emptying the capacity bin is difficult and clumsy. The quick release handle broke on the vacuum and Dyson does not have this part available on their website. Considering the price for this vacuum I expected much better performance.
Not very hardy
Plastic bits are unfortunately easy to break when teenage boys use the vacuum cleaner so now it’s useless-have contacted company about parts via email no response as yet-hope they can replace the part
I want my old Dyson upright back!!!
Previously had a Dyson upright, decided to upgrade as a xmas gift for the house 2 years ago. From the moment i used for the first time I disliked the new dyson ball. The pipe/wand and attachments are flimsy, and feel very cheap. Im always weary not to put to much pressure on them in case they break. I feel the older model upright Dyson did 100% better job and would revert back to an upright if they still made them.

I absolutely HATE this machine
Bought 4th July 2018 for $508.18 from Billy Guyatts
Simply put this vacuum is a terrible vacuum in every metric that counts.
We have the multi-floor variant with the muscle head and it is primarily used on porcelain tiles and timber floors. It is also used on two small carpeted rooms, but its main use is on hard floors, for which it is supposedly suited.
The things it does well:
* it turn on
The things it does badly:...* more likely to push things around than suck them up * has almost no edge suction * Clogs constantly. Suck up a scrap of paper the size of a postage stamp. The "muscle" head will clog. Suck up some thing like a scrunched up bit of paper the size of a marble and it will jam INSIDE the cylinder. Dried leaf - jam, random bit of kids crap - jam, an offcut bit of toast on the floor - jam. * the head is narrow - never thought of this before buying it, but the head is narrow, at least 30% less than my electrolux I had before so it takes 30% longer to vacuum the same area. * The power lead is short. So short I have to use an extension lead to actually reach every part of the house. * the actual suction is pathetic. Want to grab that bit of crap down in the runner of your sliding door? You will have to get the narrow fittings out because without the fittings to narrow the intakes there is hardly any suction at all * Emptying the tank is a mission. The slide to release the base of the tank doesn't like moving and once you have emptied it you need to wrangle it down, lift bits with your finger nails because it wont slide and get covered in dust to close it. * WORST part is the tank will often open as you remove it from the body! The bottom of the tank is held on with a tiny clip that relies on the latent spring in moulded plastic. It is not a positive fitting and 50% of the time I end up with all the crap dumped over the machine when I remove the tank. First photo shows the clip and how it has popped. * If you have people with long hair in your house hold the hair will bind around the steel mesh filter inside the tank. This will drop the suction by half in next to no time and this machine doesn't have any suction to spare. Second photo shows hair clogging after 10 mins. * the ball rolls over constantly. Sure it rights itself, but it just rolls over itself constantly. In summary, for hard floors a broom is 1000000 times better. For everything else a $40 vacuum from Kmart would destroy it. I've had this vacuum for over 6 months now and every time I use it it makes me angry. The trigger for this review was yet another dump of its tank all over itself when I tried to empty it. Do yourself a favour, buy literally ANY other machine on the market. A dustbuster with a dying battery would be a better investment.
