Good but pricey
Well this a Dyson product so it's well built but pricey.
Bought online and it was delivered increadably fast. Well packed.
The fan has a small foot print on table. Easy to use controls including oscillation.
No blades to damage and this makes it easy to clean.
Except for that fact you could easily buy 3 good fans for the price
This Dyson fan simply blows.
We bought this fan because we thought it looked cool and was confident it would do the simple task of providing us with air circulation. It did not.
We turned it on for the first time at 9pm, and by 3am we had both been woken up by the sound of plastic rubbing and ticking noises. The fact is... this fan only works when its not oscillating. When it turns from side to side it made enough noise to wake us from a deep, deep sleep.
Keep your money and get something for 1/3 the price... or even get a $30 pedestal from Bunnings.
Dyson has great marketing but fails with basic functionality. Avoid, avoid, avoid.
Beautiful looking fan although a tad loud
We've owned this fan for a number of years now and it has worked very reliably. It is a stunning design and the build quality is step beyond other cheaper devices.
It would have been a 5/5 if it weren't so loud approaching maximum output. On lower outputs the fan really isn't that strong. Compared to other similarly sized fans at similar expense the output just seems a little on the low side.
Should have bought a $39 cheapy. Waste of money
Reasonably quiet but not much output at full power. Easy to use but aren't they all?Basically assumed that it would be superior to the cheap fans. It isn't. Don't bother. Our cheap noname fan works better. I'm sorry I've already chucked out the box or if return it for a refund.
A waste of money looks good but ain't good
I hate too say it paid a top $ for the Dyson fan it is a waste of money time and electricity . May as well have nothing it would be the same
Very disappointed customer . A cheap industrial fan at $80 would Serve the purpose better
A very disappointed customer
Noisy and just blowing hot air around
I'm not sure if mine is working well or not as I have it on the highest setting and it is noisier than my split system aircon which is 10 years old. Plus there's no cold air coming out, it's just pushing the hot air around the room, even at the highest speed. Would have expected more for the price tag and reputation.
Best fan ever
I bought this fan at a special promotion at Harvey Norman at which you could purchase the fan at a reduced price if you bought a Dyson Vacuum and absolutely love it! It is quiet, has a timer and variable speed. Best of all it has no blades and therefore no dust to spread around- very important for those with allergies-Highly recommended.
Dyson 30cm model
I have the 30cm baby one.Not very powerful.Nice and quiet though and they do have compact design.
Biggest gripe is the air vents block with dust.Im sure the insides of mine would be full of dust by now .Should be able to access the insides to clean out but you can only take the top bit off. They should consider filters but that would only add to their cost.
Only for rich folk living in nice clean homes and they can also afford them as their too expensive.
The whole product is a clever gimmick really and
I'm sure it's made Mr Dyson very wea...
When it works it's awesome. But it often doesn't work
This is a lovely fan, very beautifully designed and a work of art.
But I've never had another piece of electronics which is this simple, but this unreliable. Every couple of times it refuses to turn on, and you need to unplug it from the wall, wait a bit, then plug it back in again.
Seriously? This is just a fan, there's no need for some supercomputer which needs constant rebooting.
Its a ok fan nothing to get overly excited about .....im a bit dissapointed the price is over the top n for a basic fan its interesting ....yet my pedistal fan blows better. Would have expected more for the price especially considering my $15 fan has more power. Thanks heaps
Don't waist your time or money!
I purchased a $40 fan for my bedroom where I work overseas which I found faulty as it made a click when oscillating. This was returned and I decided to pay 10 times the price for something that I thought would be a quality product and give me no hassles. It states that it is 75% quieter than the model it replaces. This maybe true but it still loud for the bedroom. It's more high pitched (if you could imagine a quieter hair dryer) as air is being sucked and blown through small openings at high speed. It may look the goods but it's not a goo...d design. Having it on the highest setting (10) you would need ear muffs. For the bedroom you need power setting 4 but it's still audible. Then the clicking started on oscillation (ARGH!) I could not believe this is happening again. Another thing is the speed indicator on the front. It is so bright you need to put something in front of it (I use a pair of socks) as it lights up the room. This fan will be returned when I get home for a refund. Surely Mr Dyson could do something with the tried and proven design of the blade fan, make it look good and make it quiet with a DC motor (my ceiling fan at home has a DC motor and is completely silent) and design a blade that is quiet (they can do it with stealth helicopters?)

First and probably last Dyson
So my mother loves Dysons, she has several new vacuums, the AM07, and a few others. So many decided to try a fan before I got possibly a heater fan. Overall, design is great, but build quality leaves so much to be desired. A few reviews down, a buyer complained about the clicking noise while it swivels at night. My suffered from the same thing and the Dyson customer service was seriously hopeless. The best I could understand was to return it to Myers as it was only about 10 days old and get another. Ok not an issue. Did so, this time one has th...e same issue. I tried again, a different colour to see, and nope same clicking although more prominent. The Dyson said we'll send it in, the whole process is way too time consuming. You have to pack it up, drop it at the post office, and wait who knows how many weeks until it's "repaired". See money wasn't a factor in buying the fan, but for this find of customer service, it's overpriced. I had an issue with a Miele powerhead for my vacuum, which costs roughly $350 for the floor head. Miele sent a new one out, and sent satchel to return the faulty product back to them, and even arranged a pick up at the house, so that a) I wouldn't be without the product I bought, b) I wouldn't need to go to the post, send mine in for a repair, and wait forever for it to come back, and c) minimises disruption as it was their faulty product. And mind you this was just outside warranty, not a month in of purchase. Extremely disappointed in a few things; first obviously the actual issue with the fan, secondly how Myers, a Dyson retailer, lied and stated that Myers no longer carried the Iron and Blue combo, which is what I was after, and because there's this extremely un-customer friendly rule in Oz that you are forbidden from changing you mind, I cannot get the colour I wanted, as I bought the white and Silver one to start. And insult to injury, the third time I returned to Myers, they took back the black one they gave me to try, which also clicked, they handed me a box of a "new" white one which turned out to have the same serial number as my originally purchased one, all while I see the Iron/Blue one in a box on hold for a customer. When I asked why I was told that Dyson no longer supplied Myers with the colour I wanted, the rude man said "you were never told that". Great experience so far. Other than that, it's a great fan, design is fantastic. Technology is great. It moves air around smoothly and quietly. If it didn't click, was the colour I wanted, and I didn't have to jump through hoop after hoop to get it repaired, this would be a 5 star review. As if I had been happy with the fan, wanted a heater and the humidifier as well. But with a call centre where the people are clueless, and I'm lied to by salespeople, and I'm given a "new" replacement by Myers, and the difficult factor of getting it replaced. What you do is ship them out a working fan, have someone pick up the faulty item, and everyone is happy. That's customer service, and that makes a company. I will be posting this review on my blog at the beginning of April, hopefully, as doing my research for some new space heaters as well, so I'lll review all at once. As I see Dyson monitors this page, perhaps someone can do something to fix my two month old problem.
Best fan - quiet & cool
I was looking at other fans that were slightly cheaper & air coolers but in the end I chose this for small apartment.
It's quiet & really is cooler and the design looks good. It's also very light.
I would recommend this item for general use and it's quiet enough to sleep with it on low.
It's like a lovely gentle breeze.
I've only just read these reviews, as I've just had my fan replaced under warranty with the clicking noise. This clicking noise wasn't excessive, but with the fan on low and in the quiet of the night, it started annoying me....especially with this price tag as you expect perfection!
I love having this fan on low setting, which is like a gentle breeze and the timer is a great function, as is the remote. The indicator light is a bit bright if using it at night, but you can place stickers over the light to dim it .... the remote still works a...
Better than the first version but still has some issues
I had an earlier version of this fan and it was incredibly noisy. This one is much quieter but there are still some issues.
It now has a sleep timer, which the old version did not which is great. Big tick
It now no longer has controls on the unit itself, so if you lose the remote or the batteries are flat you can't use it.
It, like the previous model develops an annoying clicking sound when oscillating, really annoying when using it at night in the bedroom. I read a review on a UK site where a guy went through six machines trying to ge...t one that did not have this issue and all of them had it. My earlier machine and this new machine both do it. While that is annoying, this fan still outweighs a normal fan for me. If I use the ceiling fan or a normal fan I wake up with a really sore throat in the morning. With the Dyson fans because they don't cause 'buffeting' they eliminate this problem so are really good to use on warm summer nights. The other big tick is their safety, I have cats who like to stick their feet in everything so normal fans can be dangerous. I caught my cat literally jumping through the round 'hoop' on this machine like a circus animal and because of the design there are were no issues.
I have always wanted one of these fans, simply because they look cool and they are easy to clean. I finally just bit the bullet and bought one. No great surprise, I love it. It can get a little noisey in the dead of night on volume 7 and up (volume range 1-10) and the light at night showing the volume is a little on the bright side, but other than that, can't complain one bit.
Bought this for toddler room and it is awesome. Air flow great, it's quiet, oscillates and tilts as well. Has timer and remote. After owning all sorts of fans which died or were hazardous to toddler fingers thought I'd spend a little extra and it's worth it. Would definitely recommend
Questions & Answers
Is this product can cool down a bedroom? it seems very small...
Dyson Team ..Dyson
The AM06 doesn't contain any refrigerants, therefore it won't cool a room, however if you are in bed, it will work fine for you if put on a night stand or similar.
Alternatively, the AM08 may be of interest. It is our pedestal fan, has a larger amplifier and will move more air than the AM06 table fan. It can be found here: http://shop.dyson.com.au/fans-and-heaters/cooling-fans/am08-pedestal-fan-white-silver-301232-01
