An expensive mistake. Do not purchase
Had this hair dryer for 2 years. Paid close to $500. Just after the 2 year warranty period ended the hair dryer started to fail. I did some investigation and found that this is a very common event. Sent the hair dryer back to Dyson. They said there was a blocked filter and want charge me $75 to fix it. Given that I had regularly cleaned the filter (every week) and the numerous reports of the same thing happening to others I call crap. Seems very clear that there is a design issue with this product as it frequently has the same issue. Dyson just...don't want to admit this and think that it is OK to sell a $500 product that lasts only 2 years. It's apparent that Dyson have denied my rights under Australian Consumer law. A $500 hair dryer should last more than 2 years and as such the company should repair, replace or refund without charge as the product is not fit for purpose or of a reasonable quality. My advice is to save your money and avoid this product completely. Yes, it does look great and it does do a better job than a regular hair dryer. But if it will break after 2 years, why bother.

Don’t waste your hard earned money
I had heard such good things about Dyson but this product is a huge disappointment. I find even the lowest heat setting intolerable if using the dryer for more than a couple of minutes at a time and my hair - which was in fantastic condition and so soft prior to buying this piece of junk - feels like straw after using it for just over a month. If someone from Dyson reads this please don’t tell me to look at the tutorials as I already have. Seriously I’m in my 50’s and have never come across a hair dryer this bad - I’ll be going back to a Vidal Sassoon dryer. Even a $15 dryer fro Kmart would be better. I was thinking of getting a Dyson vacuum as well but this experience has put me off Dyson for life.

Great until it breaks
I’ve had this hairdryer for about 2 years. It was great until it broke one month out of warranty. Serious concerns about its durability, given the cost of the unit. It is also going to cost $150 to repair the cord. It has been being “repaired” for over two weeks. Loan units are not offered and no communication from Dyson. Essentially a great hair dryer until it breaks.

I’ve had two dyson hairdryers in 3 years I’m a hairdresser they are not functional for salon use , they cut out while drying a clients hair it’s quite embarrassing for $500 dryer
Every time you email dyson response is good but it’s the same thing have you cleaned filter send to us , being a hairdresser and having to send dryer away is an inconvenience, feel like paying $500 you shouldn’t need a back up dryer , I’m so dissatisfied

DON'T BUY - NOT BUILT TO LAST
I had used a Parlux dryer for over 12 years with no issue, and when it was damaged when moving house and needed replacing, I decided to spoil myself by buying the Dyson Supersonic after I was awarded a promotion at work. I noticed after less than 12 months of use it was overheating and would cut off CONSTANTLY. I have a short bob hairstyle, and it would take me 40 minutes to dry my hair with all the stopping and starting. I cleaned the filter using a soft dry cloth and a clean unused toothbrush - just as shown on the website, and did this consi...stently since I owned it, however the machine would still overheat. I booked it in to be fixed before the warranty expired, however it was just as the pandemic hit unfortunately, and with the lockdown period at the onset of the pandemic, due to my poor immunity, lack of car and reliance on public transport, I was not able to take it in to the post office to be serviced. I also lost my job during the pandemic, which has been really difficult financially and even more difficult to cope with emotionally. Obviously my focus had to be elsewhere (literally surviving). I'm now working again (albeit earning A LOT less and just getting by), and had a need for the hairdryer again. I contacted customer support who have advised that as the coverage has lapsed in the couple of months prior, I'll have to pay for the repairs. It's a bit of a slap in the face after the dealing with the pandemic to be honest, and also since the issue was raised while it was in warranty. I couldn't predict the pandemic, so didn't know there would be obstacles in the way of sending it in before the warranty expired. It's also a massive slap in the face to have to pay for repairs for such an expensive product, which Dyson advertised and spoke about in media interviews as a 'long lasting' quality product. Clearly it isn't. I've just been told that I have to fork out $75 to have the filter replaced because it was severely blocked. If it was still blocked after all the cleaning I did (following their instructions), then it's an indication that the product is NOT as well designed as they state it is on their website and in all the marketing material. I'm concerned that even with the part being replaced, due to this apparent poor design, I'll have to pay $75 or more on a semi regular basis to keep this machine running. Even with the warranty on the repairs, to have to send it in, and not have a dryer during that time - even if they covered the cost of another repair, I still have to be inconvenienced. It seems ridiculous to me to have to pay $75 to keep a $549 hairdryer running, when a $200 parlux hairdryer (and all the cheaper ones I owned before that) that did an equally good job, had no ongoing costs and lasts for at least 10 years (which incidentally is what a Dyson engineer stated in a media article that was the expected life of the supersonic without the need for repair/replacement). Bottom line - DON'T waste your money like I did. Money does not always buy quality. You will have to keep being inconvenienced and may even have to continue paying for the privilege of using this incredibly expensive hairdryer. I do not recommend this product at all. I am extremely disappointed in this product and the ongoing cost associated with using it.

Worst hairdryer ever
Don't waste your money. It leaves your hair feeling and looking like straw. Lots of hair damage. So disappointed with this product. My Halo and Feather Jet are far superior and half the price.
Crappiest Hairdryer ever
I am SO DISAPPOINTED. I love Dyson products and own many of them. I frequently blow wave my hair using a Parlux Hairdryer. I was told by a number of people that the Dyson was better. My husband purchased the Supersonic from David Jones. I proceeded to use the Hairdryer and immediately knew it was going to be crap because it simply is not powerful enough to generate enough heat to blowave hair. The end result is limp, frizzy hair.
I am so extremely disappointed that we have spent $549 on a hairdryer that is unusable. To add insult to injury, D...yson offer a 45 day money back guarantee but is not covered if purchased from a retailer like David Jones. I don't understand this and don't understand why there are so many five star reviews for such an inferior product.

Big Let Down
I received this as a gift. I was so pleased with it and used it for about a month until I noticed my my hair was getting a lot of breakage and was quite frizzy. My hair was in great condition before this. I have had to return to my old hair dryer. After researching the product I found it was a common issue. At the price, that was paid, $550, I would expect my hair to be in much better condition. I contacted Dyson who said they would service it, not sure how this will help. I sent them my details so as they could arrange for the return of the product and have not heard a thing back from them.

What a rip off!
Despite my miss-giving's on paying such a lot for a hairdryer I have been saving for it for my daughters 21st and decided to bite the bullet and purchase due to the promotion Dyson are advertising stating two accessory items were included with the dryer. I was going to order a paddle brush and a Wide-tooth comb.
Rang to order and was told 'no, nothing is included'.
I asked her to look on the website it is still advertising the deal.
No she told me. A display case is included. That is all.
She told me that the deal ended 31st of August.
Seems to cause frizz for my hair, yet my other dryer does not
Sadly it seems too cause frizz and damage to my hair plus no quicker
Good position of controls, works well with a brush to curl hair
My previous dryer is better @ $80

Don't Waste Your Money
I have always bought a German brand hair dryer only two in my lifetime im over 50! When the Dyson came out I thought I would try it as it was flood with lots of praise. No way this is any better than all the others. Does not dry the hair any quicker or conditions the hair but leaving it healthier after drying. Waste of money .

Waste of money
Bought this for a present for my wife ,it didn’t take long for it to continuously stop working,it was taken to the dealer who replaced it with a new one that did exactly the same thing .So sent it back once again ,only to be told that it was because the filter had not been cleaned ,which was not the case because it is a very simple thing to do before you use it and we made sure it was always cleaned.Looks good that’s about all.
Expensive but not build to last unfortunately
Bought it for less than 1 year and now it cannot start at all. Called Dyson and told me it might because of the filter got blocked. I cleaned it every week and it still can blocked. Bad timing.
No hair dryer use while waiting for it to be repaired. Cold winter with no hair dryer to use. How sad my life is currently. :( Waited for 2 weeks now and now still waiting.
Should have bought a cheaper one.

Save your money
Only had my Dyson hair dryer for 3 months . It was great in the beginning but then it started over heating and now it wont turn off when i hit the switch, literally have to unplug it. So disappointed!
Purchased in April 2019 for $243.00.
I bought the Dyson hair dryer 3 months ago. I have used it about 6 times, the reason being that it blows to hard even on the lowest setting. It hurt my eyes, I have dry eyes, and caused them to swell due to the added irritation. I found it difficult to style my hair in sections as while doing so it was blowing out another section, drying it before it could be styled. Using the defused is okay as long as it is not around my face. I feel really let down by this product. I contacted Dyson but they were not interested in my disatisfaction with the product. So for me it was a huge investment based on trusting a Dyson product, I cannot use it so have wasted my money.

Hi, the dyson hair dryer I got for my wife has a delay when she on the dryer. All function works fine. The delay is about 1 to 2 sec. And doesn't happen all the time. Is that normal?
