Beware! This product will damage Loop Pile carpet
I purchased a Dyson V11 Absolute Extra 10 days ago and am astonished to see that it has damaged our loop pile carpet as well as rugs. Many people have written in reviews to say how wonderful the machine is since the dust canister is full after use, their impression is that all this dust must have sat in their carpets for years. When in reality, certainly if you have loop pile carpet, that this is carpet fibres and not dust and dirt lodged over years. The effect is that your carpet is damaged, and looks fluffy after use; much like a lamb wool sw...Read more
eater gets all tufty after some use, and you need to use a mini shaver to remove the tuft and fluff. Your entire carpet looks like it's had high traffic use after vacuuming - not what you expect from an high-wateringly pricey product, nor from Dyson. The issue is the stiff bristle in the spinning motorised vacuum head that catches and loosens your carpet fibres. If you have wood floor throughout, the V11 is wonderful and the cordless aspect very convenient. Incidentally, Dyson's response to all of this is 'we're not carpet experts!'Purchased in November 2020 at The Good Guys for A$1,200.00.

Not recommended at all
I received it yesterday, charged it and used it today. I did the 3 bedrooms carpets and it was so heavy compared to previous Dyson. It is so disappointing. I have now pain in arm and shoulder. I am only 40 years old, almost 6 feet tall and quite active. It’s not worth the price..!!
It performs well but too heavy to do the whole house.!

Just Love this Procuct
This is my third Dyson and just love this model. I have the cumbersome corded DC23 which is quite heavy. I used it conjunction with the Hand Stick DC35 which was great for smaller jobs.
Now I have been so impressed with this model as it is not too heavy, and no cord....yay....it works great for hard and soft floors and adjusts accordingly or you can give it an extra boost as required. I have a large house and it will do the whole house if I choose, but I alternate one day for the hard floors and the other for the carpets. Would recommend.
Purchased in July 2020 at Dyson.

Simply the Best
It's been 8 years since I purchased my Dyson upright and it was time for an Upgrade. The old adage you get what you pay for is so true for the V11. It is indeed expensive but worth every cent. Having also the Dyson V6 & V7 I can certainly appreciate the Improvements.
Pros:
1. Great improved power and suction. Just a a 5 minute vacuum over the carpet that the Dyson Upright had previously run over proved that. with the V11 bin being half filled.
2. Love the Dust release which pushes all the dust/fluff out ununlike the V6 which always left fluf...Read more

Amazing.
We have just moved a few weeks ago, the previous tenants had at least one cat.
I am allergic to pretty much everything (especially cats and dust). I have spent weeks feeling pretty ill, we have a baby that has been getting sick also.
Yesterday I purchased this 'Dyson V11 absolute extra', it's expensive ($1199. in july 2020), but I've had a big ball animal thing..the newer one, and the little handheld thing for stairs, some parts are interchangable, and they are really good with repairs and warranty...if it has the red button you can use it betw...Read more

Perfect vacuum for our house
I upgraded to the v11 after having the v8 for 2 years. Very impressed with it so far. Battery life is obviously a lot better and I like that I can easily replace the battery when the time comes. It’s a lot easier to empty the bin - point and shoot. The head also switches automatically between floorboards downstairs and carpet upstairs. It’s definitely a bit heavier than the v8 but not problematically so. This has been a welcome addition to the house during lockdown!

Great but heavy.
This Dyson Absolute Extra was bought at Harvey Norman (Erina) for $1199.00 to replace/supplement our V6 Animal which has been wonderful. We loved the 2 heads - hard floor & carpet, plus the bigger bin & longer battery time displayed on machine. But on very first use I found it very heavy & got a sore finger holding the "on" switch- the battery lasts an hour which is great - BUT!. I wanted to carry it up stairs but this was rather tiring/difficult. We cleaned & repacked the stick into the box & returned to Harvey Norman wanting a lighter mach...Read more

Heap of extra and great suction
The Dyson vacuum cleaner comes in a compact box and it’s nice to see a distinct lack of plastic in its packaging. Everything is in cardboard packaging and even the manual comes in an envelope instead of the customary plastic bag (Pic 1)
Like previous Dyson products, this come with a number of different attachments which simply click on and off.
The fluffy roller head is stated as being useful for hard floors as the roller head will pick up larger debris while picking up dust at the same time. Personally, I didn't find this any more useful th...Read more
en the high torque head. The roller comes with a soft plush material which seems to make the head glide uncontrollable on my hard floors. On my tiles, when I want it to simply go up and down in a straight line it was doing zigzags. On floorboards the directional controls are better. If you have rugs on your hard floor then using this head means you then have to change the head when you want to vacuum the rug. For me this not very useful, so it does not get used often. Plus, I am not sure how one would clean that material when its gets dirty. The high torque head on the other hand is brilliant. Still glides easily but not to the extent that it becomes uncontrollable. The head pretty much swivels easily in any direction you want. The suction around the top and side edges of the head is fantastic - basically if you have a straight corner then it vacuums that corner so you don't need to use the crevice device to get into the corner. It moves easily between hard floors, carpets and rugs. The suction automatically changes as you move from one to the other. My carpets are new and visually looks fine but this is what the vacuum cleaner picked up which is very impressive (Pic 2). I have 4 carpeted rooms so it seems the dust compartment should be enough to do a whole house before needing to be emptied.Purchased in March 2020.

The Perfect No Messing Around No Fuss Mans Vacuum
In all seriousness the Dyson V11 Absolute Extra is an awesome cordless Vacuum with a massive range of uses that can literally replace your larger style Vacuum. Suitable for both Men and Women but seriously the guys are going to LOVE the no messing around functions of the Dyson V11 Absolute Extra!

ng. Real Life Tests on Battery Life: Our house is a small to medium 2 storey 4 bedroom house with a combination of tile and carpet. Downstairs is all tile with one large rug and the upstairs is all carpet excluding 3 bathrooms/toilets. The Dyson V11 Absolute Extra when fully charged can easily vacuum our entire house with the setting on Medium/Auto. In Auto mode the V11 will automatically detect if the vacuum is on tile or carpet. What’s so good about this? Saving battery life as the V11 will slightly reduce suction when on tiled or hard floor and then increase suction when the head hits carpet. This is not only great for battery life it’s also extremely efficient in that you don’t need to change heads when vacuuming tiles and then onto carpet, one head can do the entire house. I am extremely impressed by this function alone. 2 Real Life Battery Tests: 1. Auto Mode: Entire first floor of the house tiled vacuumed, lounge vacuumed, large rug vacuumed as well as eves and walls vacuumed all on one battery charge. 2. Auto Mode: Whole 2 Storey house vacuumed includes 2 lounge rooms, 4 bedrooms, 2 bathrooms and 2 toilets, laundry, dinning and 2 large hallways - All on one charge which still had a remaining 5 or so minutes left on the battery.Purchased in March 2020.

Hands Down A Fantastic Cordless Vacuum Cleaner
As a Product Review Ambassador my review is completely unbiased and unswayed, and is based on my use of the appliance, in my home. I hope my experience with the Dyson V11 Absolute Extra Cordless Stick Vacuum helps you in assessing if the item is right for you.
I’ve previously used a typical barrel vacuum with cord which is awkward and especially difficult on stairs. I also purchased a robot vacuum appliance, which I often found frustrating. My home has timber flooring, floor rugs, carpet, and porcelain tiles in the bathroom, and I have long hai...Read more

The vacuum to get your significant other vacuuming!
If I'm honest, like most household appliances, the best type of vacuum to me is the one I don’t have to use because everyone else in my house wants to. If that's how I'm judging the Dyson Absolute Extra, then as I sit here on the couch writing this, watching my 4 year old vacuum up the food under the dining table while my one year old twins eagerly watch on, as I finish my cup of tea while it’s still hot and in (relative) silence, then I can't help but think it's well and truly earned a 5/5 and I give a quiet bow to its makers. Well done, Dyson...Read more
. Well done. We’re long time Dyson converts. Bag-less technology, cordless movement, improved air quality, attachments that easily help keep the car clean as well, the ability to disassemble the head and clean the rolls so it looks brand new again - we've been sold on Dyson for these reasons for a while. So when we were asked to trial the Absolute Extra we enthusiastically took it with open arms. And used it all 3,157,852 times a day when something in our house requires vacuuming. We have a 4 bedroom house with a mix of wooden floors, tiles and carpet and I love the Absolute Extra for all the same reasons I love our original Dyson. I have to admit I don't love that you have to take off the wand to empty the waste bin, and it does get slightly heavy when doing a full house because of it's bigger bin, but I'm stretching to find something to complain about here. I DO love that the display tells you exactly how many minutes (and seconds) you have in battery life so you don't get caught out with one patch of dusty wooden floor left, that I have seen more dust come out of the carpet in my children's bedrooms that I even knew existed, that I'm not chasing bits of fluff around the floor or having to go over something multiple times, that I have more than enough battery to do our whole house, that you can hear the suction adjusting as you move from wooden tile to carpet and that the bin empties in a swift, easy movement... "like a gun!" helpfully adds my 4 year old. Sigh. More than any of these things though, I love that I have never seen my significant other vacuum more. Some actual quotes from him: "This thing could suck a bowling ball through a garden hose." "It's space age!" "It's a MAN'S vacuum."Similar opinion? Write a review on ProductReview.com.au!

Amazing suction as usual, and an improvement on the few things lacking in the V10
As far as suction goes, the V11 is to which all other cordless vacuums should aspire. It even surpasses most of the corded vacuums I have owned, and personally, sets the standard for how well a room is cleaned (when on boost). From an aesthetic point of view, it is consistent with the previous Dyson cordless vacuums, with the minimalistic and yet highly "technological" design. The transparent bin being one of the most notable features, driving home the "bag-less" containment, as well as offering a sense of accomplishment as the user can visuall...Read more
y observe how much debris has been removed from a room. Extensive thought and technical trials have gone into the design and engineering, as every aspect (and the multitude of different tools) make this one of the most user-friendly vacuums on the market. One of the most notable changes in presentation is the LCD screen, from which the user can alter the vacuum functions and various alert modes (for low power etc). However the most useful feature allowed by the screen is the timer that provides a countdown for remaining battery life in each suction mode, allowing you to prioritise with the remaining power if required. The automatic suction adjustment means you can trust the V11 to alter its own suction depending on what it detects, although in the practical sense, the user would still have to change between different cleaner heads, and may disagree with the automatic suction power. The high torque cleaner head also has "gates" which can open and close, allowing for larger debris to be suctioned in. However I can't but feel this is a slightly superfluous function, as ideally all debris should be removed, regardless of size. The cleaner heads also have removable brush bars for untangling any caught up hairs, and although the "point and shoot" emptying system makes for easy removal, due to the fine size of particles of debris, I find that some dust will inadvertently attach to the outside of the bin, mostly due to static. As the one shortfall of the Dyson cordless range is the battery life (although due to the high power provided it seems a fair tradeoff), the V11 now comes with an easily removable battery, and extra batteries can be purchased for an additional price. This means you can have an additional charged battery ready for use, or else remove the battery for charging, which is much less cumbersome than charging the entire vacuum if you do not have the docking station attached to a wall-space. I find that I can get through approximately two carpeted rooms (on boost) before it will run out of power, although this varies with user speed and thoroughness. Overall, although it may not be absolutely perfect, it is definitely the most powerful and well-designed cordless vacuum currently in existence, and about as close to perfection as possible.Similar opinion? Dyson Cordless Vacuum Cleaners - A New Era of abilities!!!
I know that many people read "Product Review" before making their purchase - so, as I have done with all the reviews I have completed, I will be Honest about what I actually think and the pro's and con's of this Cordless Vacuum.
My first observation is just how well this product was packaged. No Styrofoam. Each individual part was secured and wrapped either in paper or in an individual cardboard box. Very impressed. One point that I would make - Make sure that you have taken out EVERY part before disposing of the box. It would be very easy to ...Read more

SPECTACULAR! First run left one GOBSMACKED! Top performer!
Arrived in a compact box that was simple to open revealing a beautifully well presented product individually packaged with TLC, one could see and appreciate Tyson really taking a lot of care here, and this made the process a consumer freindly experience!
The instruction booklet is user friendly and leaves NOTHING to the imagination and certainly no room for error in putting the many pieces together, unlike some instruction booklets that are as clear as muddy water in a beer bottle!

accessories was impressive, and, HOW CUTE a lil' power head attachment for the nooks and crannies, also another power head for marble surfaces, and wee lil' brush attachments for delicate fragile surfaces. This machine comes complete with three power heads! Dyson thought of everything in designing this package, and the array of all these new odds and ends layed out on the downstairs table was somewhat overwhelming for this mere male unaccustomed to modern day cleaning apparatus, a woman would not even need to read the instructions, she'd have this lot sorted in a flash!Purchased in March 2020.

Can you buy a spare battery thru a reseller or only thru Dyson direct? Thanks Mick

While some resellers may carry batteries, we encourage purchasing direct from Dyson to ensure you get a genuine Dyson battery.
Genuine Dyson batteries have been engineered by the same teams who engineered the V11 to ensure it provides reliable performance. We can't ensure the performance, safety or durability of non-Dyson batteries.
You can find the batteries for our V11 machines via this link: https://www.dyson.com.au/support/replacement-batteries/dyson-v11

Hello I’m looking to buy the V11 Absolute Extra but I’m worried as I heard they’re hard to work with on thick dense carpets which is what we have. Can you explain please if this is correct and if there’s a way around it. Thank you.

Hi Leora, we have one large and quite thick style rug, the V11 works quite well on that rug.
I’d love to be able to send you a video to show you this in action, but not sure how we can go about this through Product Review.
Thank you for your answer. I suspect that it’s different with rugs as they do not have an underlay like carpets do. I might give Dyson a call to discuss it. Thanks again.
DysonDyson
Dyson machines are designed to work on many different types of carpet and its unusual to expect any difficulties.
Should you find it hard to push, the cleanerhead gives you the ability to reduce the seal it has with your floor type (by moving the selector switch to the "-") to make it easier to push.
That being said, we would encourage contacting your flooring manufacturer if you have any concerns about using a Dyson machine on your flooring.
