No good for arthritis sufferers
I’ve had many Dyson products and for the most part, they’re pretty good if not expensive. One thing that’s always been a problem for me is the trigger action of their stick vacuum cleaners. Not bad for a quick cleanup but a 30-40 min session is a challenge for someone with arthritis and carpal tunnel. I bought the outsize mainly because the head is wider, covering more floor space at once. However, it’s heavy. Really heavy. Combined with the strain of maintaining the trigger, I end up in a lot of pain. Look, I know you can’t be all things to...everyone but Dyson you pride yourself on design and arthritis is a very common ailment. If you could incorporate some sort of mechanism (like a garden hose attachment) which enables the vacuum to run without holding the trigger, would make life a lot easier for people like me and I can continue to use your products.

Upgraded but Disappointed
I upgraded from a V6 that we have loved.
Pros : Vacuum time - barrel cleaning - attachments - Auto floors - AI on battery and usage times - quieter
Cons : really heavy that it hurts vacuuming on plush carpet on Auto - heads too wide for practical daily use - no mattress attachment as standard - bulkier storage
AND it has made me invest $50
on attachments for the V6
This is a lot of money and it is really disappointing as I have loved our Dyson V6 and our old Handheld. I am really concerned this will end up in the cupboard like our barrel vacuum and wish we got the V10 that was way cheaper but more practical

Dyson should've stuck with old design - developed Tennis elbow using the V11
I'm a professional house cleaner, and usually use either a Dyson V6 or V8 (V8 is my favourite). Then my clients purchased the V11 Outsize to use in their house- what a mistake. At first I was impressed by the V11's suction; ability to choose from 3 different modes of suction (Eco - Boost), as well as being quieter than previous models.
HOWEVER, the design means that it's unfortunately way too heavy when trying to vacuum a standard 4 bedroom house. (To be fair, it's not so bad on hard floors, but trying to vacuum my client's plush carpets ...felt like pushing through concrete.) It doesn't feel balanced properly (Most likely due to the excessive weight of the huge drum), and places too much weight in the wrong places - meaning I developed Tennis elbow after only using the machine for less than a month (Weekly use), which I'm still receiving treatment for. Don't think this Machine is worth paying over $1000 when it's poor design causes injuries. I'll stick with my V8.

Too heavy for me to use
Bought the V11 Outsize recently as we have just done a second story addition to our house (fully carpeted) and I thought it would be great to use upstairs & on the stairs save taking my Dyson Animal Barrel Vac (which I love) up the stairs. I also wanted it for the mini soft dusting brush to clean the venetian blinds. I have always wanted a Dyson Stick Vacuum, as I have a few friends with them that love them (who warned me to get a bigger one as the battery runs out too quickly on the earlier models) . However being unable to test drive it in a...shop due to COVID I was unaware it was so heavy and that I would struggle to use it. Also the trigger operation - doesn't stay on unless pressed constantly and I find this coupled with the weight of the machine very difficult to use. Also removing the machine off the holder, I always press the trigger as well, as you need to get a good grip on it to get it off the holder. I cannot use it for the venetian blinds as its too heavy to hold in the position to clean especially above my head. The vacuum does suck well and is good on both timber & carpet but the head needs to be changed to use on both surfaces. I would recommend you try this machine before you buy it.

Given me injury
I vacuum every day as I have cats, dogs and kids. Does a good job and has a good battery life but you have to maintain a grip on the trigger to keep it down. This gripping in conjunction with the machine being very heavy and the repetitive back and forth action has caused me to have tennis elbow. The extra large bin is unnecessary as the battery runs out before it’s even 1/2 full. I wish I would have just got the regular V11, not the outsize and I think Dyson should change the trigger so you don’t have to keep it pressed down. I now only use it for quick jobs and have gone back to the Miele corded vac for big jobs over 5 mins.

I was sent this product by productreview.com.au to test and write a review on it. The only Dyson experience I have previously had is for one of the little hand held Dyson’s that’s good for quick small vacuuming jobs.
With the Dyson V11 Outsize, I was surprised at how big the box was, and how many attachments there are. However, I was disappointed that there wasn’t any real instructions with it, other than two pages of safety information, an extra document with instructions on how to install the holder, and another document with information ab...out the battery. There were no instructions for all the various attachments and what they are used for. I haven't used all the attachments as yet as I haven't found a need for all of them. There is an attachment which is good for tiled areas and wooden floorboards, however, I found the attachment wobbles a lot and is quite hard to get used to using (after having used a 'normal' vacuum cleaner). The wobble factor is built in by design but I just found it distracting as the thing moved of it's own volition and wasn't going where I was trying to push it. When it came to carpeted areas, wow, you get a really good core body workout, as it is very difficult to push this vacuum on longer pile carpet. In fact, when my partner used it, he didn't bother trying to 'push' it on the longer pile carpet, he just 'pulled' it towards himself. We live in a very small cottage, and have two dogs with very long feathered fur. I didn't try to vacuum the entire house in one go as I found that holding the Dyson with the trigger on to power it, exacerbated an elbow injury that I have (tennis elbow). I also don't think the battery would have lasted trying to vacuum the entire house, as we have a number of different surfaces, and the battery indicator kept chopping and changing for how much battery time it had left, depending on where I was using the vacuum. On carpet and the rugs, etc it kicked into higher mode to try to suck up as much stuff as possible, which meant the time left on the battery dropped significantly. In the one room that has much longer pile carpet, it was very hard to use. I don't think the battery lasted for longer than 30 minutes at any one time when I was using it, before the warning light went to red and said it needed to be plugged in (at least, that's what I was assuming it meant, as I didn't get instructions). I also wasn't sure if I should keep using it until the battery went completely dead, or if I needed to plug it in to recharge as soon as the red warning light came on.

Finally got a Dyson and as a first timer, I was so disappointed with the usability of this very cumbersome V11 Outsize vacuum cleaner. It will be used for our carpets for deep cleans but I will need a second vacuum for anything above floor level. I have written a detailed review and some Dyson lovers may disagree with my comments however from my use as a female with smallish hands and back problems, this unit is more suited to those with a lot of strength. You can skip to the bottom of the page for the USAGE part of my review. I suggest if a f...riend has purchased this vacuum, ask to borrow and try before you buy to make your mind up for yourself as at $1,300 approx, you do not want to be disappointed with your purchase. ::V11 Outsize First Impression:: Well packaged Well made like all Dyson products Motor is not too loud Perfect if you have lots of carpet Lacking printed instructions Very heavy for single hand use Not ideal for anything above floor level
I was looking forward to using my very first Dyson. I use a Miele plug in and a Makita cordless.
I was surprised that the machine doesn't really come with any proper instruction booklet. It was easy to set up and comes with lots of bits and pieces all package well.
I charged the battery overnight and then used it the next day. I must say I was super impressed. It was so easy to maneuver and sucked up amazingly. I have hard tiled floors and it was a breeze to clean. The carpet in the bedrooms which looked cleaned picked up dirt I didn't even ...
Questions & Answers
I bought my Dyson V11 outsize 6 months ago, have not had an issue with it until a few weeks ago. It will not differentiate carpet to floor boards and is sucking at carpet power mode and obviously draining the battery so much quicker. Any tips on how to fix it?
Hi check the little screen on top it should say Auto and the bottom pad and roller should be clean .Hopefully it works
The Dyson V11 Outsize needs to be in Auto mode, with the Torque Drive Cleaner Head attached for the machine to change automatically between hard floors and carpets.
If the machine is in Boost or Eco modes, you are using another floor tool, the machine won't automatically change.
If you continue to experience difficulties, please don't hesitate to get in touch with our Dyson Experts, you can find ways of getting in touch here: https://www.dyson.com.au/support/contact-us
Yes I always have the machine in auto mode and the Torque Drive Cleaner is always attached.
My Dyson outsize works, however, the 2nd battery says charged and when I put it in nothing happens.

We have just purchased the V11 outsize and find the dust head pulls firmly to the right when vacuuming, we cannot understand why it is doing this even on ECO mode.
This is certainly not to be expected. We would encourage checking the wheels underneath the floor tool and ensuring all the wheels are clear of debris and spin freely.
If so and this continues, please give our Dyson Experts a call on 1800 239 766 with your machine handy at your convenience.
