Battery only lasts 5 minutes
Battery only lasts 5 minutes!! Feels like it’s going to break in your hand while using it. After 6 months the battery failed and the spinning attachment broke so Dyson sent me a new replacement battery but same problem only last 5 minutes. It takes 2 full charges (4 hours) to vacuum my small 1 bedroom apartment. Other than that it does work well at vacuuming floors.
Purchased in for $800.
Had a V6 and wanted to upgrade without the cost of the latest version.
Current price NZ$499 looked a bargain compared to the latest offerings - and it is!
Does everything that was expected of it; better than the V6, and easier to empty with the newer mechanism.
Throw in the additional, small powered head, and it's the complete answer to any cleaning situation.
Our 3rd Dyson, and won't be the last.

This is a life saver
I use this Dyson on granite, floating timber as well as carpets in formal area and my car. I was asked not to use regular vacuum cleaner by my osteopath due to pain on my spine. As a result I had cleaner service weekly but stopped it during covid. My daughter left her Dyson vacuum when she went overseas. Now I use it and have no problem with pain unlike in the past. It’s design is great and worked well for a while. Lately had battery changed (3 yrs )there after it functions well.
Purchased for $799.
waste of money
I had to replace the battery twice, once within the warranty period and again a few months out of it. I had Dyson's previously and was very happy with it, the V8 is not as good as the one I previously owned.

I m using this product for more than 4years now. I been never disappointed so far.
I used on my carpets and wooden floor as well. It's just if they have something for cars. It would be icing on cake. It doesn't have proper equipment for cars.

If all the vacuums I’ve used this cleans by far the best.
Mostly on carpeting. And some hard floors. Works really well on carpeting. Vacuum could benefit from longer lasting charge options. The storage attachments need improvement like easy attaching wall mounts.

- V8 Animal
I use this vacuum on both my tiles and carpet.
I like the fact that you can select the strength of suction. I use normal suction on tiles and deep suction on carpet. Would be surprised how much extra dust it picks up even after vacuuming with our other vacuum cleaner. Only drawback is that if using deep suction it will not vacuum the whole house so by breaking up between deep and normal the battery will last

We recently purchased a Dyson V8 Animal
Easily mounted on the wall in our laundry for charging and storage.
Effective rotation brush for cleaning a variety of surfaces without impacting negatively on the surface.
Efficiently and effectively cleans tiled areas quickly.
Design is creative from the aspect of cleaning under hard to get at areas. It is versatile.
We have found the product effective, especially on tiles and wooden flooring. It lacks effectiveness in thoroughly cleaning particulate matter from carpets. We like the product, however, I believe it lacks the drawi...

Super efficient and easy to use
We have used our Dyson cordless vacuum for over 12 months now and find it to be so efficient on all types of flooring and so very easy to use. The life of the battery pleasantly surprised us along with the attachments for other uses such as car cleaning.
Purchased in at The Good Guys for $1,200.
Good vacuum terrible customer service
Bought this three months ago. Has worked fine and done a great job until today. I switch it on and the engine ‘pulses’ before stopping indicating a blockage. I clean the dus bucket after every use and have washed the filters every month everything is clean so where is the blockage? Phone Dyson ‘support’ every time I try I’m on hold for 10-15 minutes before getting cut off without speaking to anyone. Finally after the third call I get through to someone. She is quite helpful and starts trying to solve the problem only to be cut off again halfway...through the call. I call back wait on hold again and get through to a new service assistant who starts to help me again before being cut off again! This time she calls me back. Eventually we establish that despite cleaning and caring for the machine correctly the rear filter is blocked - they are supposed to last 6-12 months. Because it is so new they agree to send me a new one however if this happens again it will be ‘user error’ and they won’t be able to help me. Next part the filter will take 7-10 days to get to me. No problem where can I buy one? At the service centre in our capital city. But ring up before you go to make sure they’re in stock. Where do I ring? The same number I’ve just called going through the whole get cut off no help situation again. For the price of a Dyson I would expect much better. The previous cordless vac I bought from Kmart for $80.00 worked with no issues for 2 years. I thought in buying Dyson I was buying a quality machine that would give years of trouble free service!?!

The best Vac power suction yet.
Took delivery of our new Dyson V8, our first time with a Dyson Vac, having been more than pleased with our other Dyson products.
Initial impressions: Excellent suction on standard even more so on high. Easy to use and interchangeable tools ideal.
However, you will definitely need to use the stand provided and Mr Dyson please note, it won’t stand on its own, so, if you need to leave in unattended it falls over, or in my case into and breaking a nearby vase.
Trigger on switch, while easy enough to use, I was on the receiving end of blistere...d finger after the first half hour of use. On the plus side the battery lasted more than long enough to do the whole home. Notwithstanding the issues mentioned, it is the only vac that has managed to get all the cat hair off our rugs, it is light, nimble and simple to use. Let’s see how things go in the long run.

Great Dyson, would definitely recommend
I use this dyson on my vinyl plank flooring and carpet. The battery life is good for a stick dyson and I’m super happy with the job it does and how much it collects each use

Questions & Answers
We have hardwood floors throughout our house but we also have a long haired dog. I know the V8 animal is designed for pets and we are very open to that fact, however my question is, would the standard Dyson V8 do the job just as well [or close to as well] given the hard floor consideration or do you really only recommend the animal or animal plus version even with hard floors? Huge thanks!
Hey there, Lauren, there's been a recent update to the Dyson V8™ vacuums, and the Dyson V8 Animal ™ isn't part of our current range. All the models currently listed here: https://www.dyson.com.au/prod...ucts/vacuum-cleaners/stick-vacuums/dyson-v8/overview# will be suitable to use in homes with pets on both hard floors and carpets. The Hair screw tool™ and Motorbar™ Cleaner head are fantastic new tools designed to help with hair-pick up. A Fluffy™ cleaner head is a handy specialised tool for hard floors. At the time of writing, this tool may be purchased separately for Dyson V8™ vacuums.
Can't put the top back into the canister. Any ideas?
Did you ha e to change the battery?
Once you’ve got the bin open, feel free to remove and reattach the cyclone and bin - it may help to realign things if the parts had become slightly out of alignment. As shown here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HasqpSd3Xfw...If you're still struggling feel free to drop in to the front counter at a Dyson owned service centre with your machine, the counter team will be happy to help, our service centres are located here: https://www.dyson.com.au/dyson-service-centres
Why isnt a crevice tool included in the V8 origin package?
Hi Di, each models machine variation will have different accessories included with the machine. The Dyson V8™ Origin just happens to be a model with less attachments.

As of December 2020, the Dyson V8 is the highest-rated cordless and stick vacuum cleaner on ProductReview. As well as being the highest rated, the V8 is also more afordable than other Dyson cordless and stick vacuum cleaners - such as the V11, which is around $300 more expensive.
- The V8 series includes 4 different vacuum cleaners, with a $100 difference in price
- Two power options: Max Mode for extra power, which is good for tough clumps of dirt or pet hair; and Powerful Mode, which allows for longer usage, but may provide a slighlty weaker suction
- A 5-hour charge provides up to 40 minutes of use
Points of praise:
- Some reviewers purchased the Dyson V8 after owning the V6 and reported noticing an improvement. Although they didn’t claim to be unhappy with the V6, many said that the V8 was more powerful and picked up a larger quantity of dirt and dust.
- The highest power setting (Max Mode) latest longer than expected. One reviewer was pleased that they could vacuum their whole apartment while still having plenty of battery life left.
- The vacuum was lightweight and easy to manoeuvre, meaning that people could clean hard-to-reach crevices and corners of the house.
- Three large, shedding dogs proved to be no match for this vacuum cleaner. A happy reviewer mentioned that they could finally remove the mess their dogs had left behind.
