Wait until the warranty runs out
Initially this was the best vacuum we have ever had. It has powerful suction and is easy to charge on the wall and swap out the attachments. After 13 months it started pulsating with the Direct Drive cleaner head and the Mini motorised head. It worked fine with the static attachments. I figured out it was because both these heads have metal pins that are meant to connect to the motor however this connection no longer works. We now have paid $600 for a years worth of vacuuming. Very disappointing, probably not a good investment.

Great vacuum for the whole house!
This is our second Dyson product, we had our first Dyson vacuum for a few years and decided on getting a new one. We settled on this one and have found the suction to work really well on both floor boards, tiles and rugs. I have used a number of the smaller attachments that come standard with the Dyson to get into tighter spaces and I have been impressed by how well it sucks us the dust etc as it is picking up things that were missed from the older one. The rugs are visibly cleaner as I was finding the older one wasn't able to pick up as much a...s it used to. I should also point out that I have only used the normal suction and not the power boost. The vacuum itself is a little heavier than the previous one so that is taking a little getting used to. The way that the dirt is emptied out is a little different but that isn't a big issue. I love that I can see the battery charge lights on the side so I know when its running low etc. I use it to vacuum our entire house (4 bedrooms) and have only had one battery light drop down. I am yet to decide whether or not to get the other vacuum head designed for floor boards, however the standard one seems to be working fine for now.
when my ex leech bought this home i bawked at the price. 3 years later i clean my truck my house , everything with it and its awsome and very versatile. i had a problem with the battery they replaced it free of charge. since then no probs at all. just clean filters empty it and use it. i am going touring soon and plan to take it with me as it is a great product. and this is a truck driving bloke not a desk jocky or mommy .
Started off good, went downhill quickly!
I bought this vacuum a couple of years ago ( I've waited to do a review because I don't believe in doing one when you first get something as longevity is one of the most important factors to consider) and it gets used once or twice a day for 5 to 10 minutes at a time. It started off quite good but very quickly I found the battery was not lasting that long ( I wasn't using it in max mode ). I also found the brush on the roller wore out incredibly quickly and these cannot be replaced you have to but the entire roller ( which a genuine one will se...t you back a small fortune ). My father in law was using the vacuum and (apparently) he was vacuuming normally and the extension pole snapped at the attachment end thus causing another expense. Now at just over 2 years old the battery last less then 10 minutes and so I'm replacing the battery. I'm not saying I don't like this dyson v8 absolute I just think their quality has gone downhill and they're overpriced for what they can do. I wouldn't buy another one tho I will upto a point continue with this one as it was somewhere around £400 I dont want it to feel like an utter waste.
The broom is great
These were great and quick to clean, and I am very happy with it. It has been one of my best home purchases by me Thank you very much for Dr
Good except for the Battery
The family bought three units, Mothers day in 2018. First unit battery failed, replaced under 6 months. My unit gets used once a week and is charged on a timer, therefore not charged when hot. The battery failed at 14 months. This battery failed at 12 months. Filters have been cleaned. Not impressed.
Started off well but after a time its effectiveness wains - the max setting lasts 5 minutes, use is halted as the product stutters and requires it to be taken apart and filters cleaned to resolve the problem. It has not handled an increase in dust due to a small renovation at all. An expensive item with limited longevity.

I bought a Dyson in March 2020. Firstly it began to pulsate off and on. Now it simply does not turn on. I am very disappointed in the product and the Service support.
I’ve had this vacuum for 2 weeks and used it twice. I’ve only used it on the lower setting so far and the suction is nowhere near as good as my 4 year old Vax which is extremely disappointing. Even worse is the fact that the dust only collects at the front of the bin & all attempts to shake the bin slightly to re-distribute the dust around the bin fail. The result is that I have to stop vacuuming every 2-3 minutes to empty the bin as the dust/lint quickly reaches the ‘max’ line in one small section of the bin. It turns a quick vacuuming job int...o a very long ordeal. In the end I gave up & got the old Vax out to finish the job. I tried emailing Dyson & even included a photo of the bin showing the issue & got a standard response that didn’t actually address my problem at all. I can’t believe I’ve just wasted $650!
Not a long life vacuum cleaner and a rip off for what you pay.
We paid around $900.00 for this Dyson just over two years ago. It is over priced and over rated. Yes it does suck ok however we have had to replace the motor head and battery (both are not cheap) at the two year mark just after the 2 year warranty expired.
We have had a long time issue with the battery life not lasting long at all from day one. For over $900 I would expect a longer life. We now need to replace the battery again so have instead opted to dump the Dyson and opt for a Ryobi with interchangeable batteries.
I have now changed to a ...
Running after just 4 weeks
I’ve been using my stain on my tile flooring and have noticed it to be rubbing and jumping from tile to tile. Very disappointing, the rubber strip on the hard roller went to sit up I think this is what is causing the rubbing
Very good vacuum
I use this vacuum mostly on my carpet floors - it's a great way to clean up after my puppy.
It's lightweight and good value for money; a bit noisy but that's acceptable for me.
terrible product and battery life is no good.
I owned my Dyson stick vac for 3 days before returning.
I wanted to return my v8 due to battery overheating and power cutting out at 1m 30secs after charging 5 and a half hours.
The store manager has advised this is not a complete vacuum cleaner and only a spot cleaner. It is never intended to do small apartments.
used for my house, soft strung carpet, does the job of cleaning the mess after my kids. Long time dyson buyer, always top quality goods. Caught this on a bargain.
Great Product but for one thing
I use my Dyson V8 on carpet, wood floors and tiles. It’s fabulous, removes so much dirt from the carpet.
The only down side is that that handle is causing an abrasion on my thumb which is quite painful.

As of December 2020, the Dyson V8 is the highest-rated cordless and stick vacuum cleaner on ProductReview. As well as being the highest rated, the V8 is also more afordable than other Dyson cordless and stick vacuum cleaners - such as the V11, which is around $300 more expensive.
- The V8 series includes 4 different vacuum cleaners, with a $100 difference in price
- Two power options: Max Mode for extra power, which is good for tough clumps of dirt or pet hair; and Powerful Mode, which allows for longer usage, but may provide a slighlty weaker suction
- A 5-hour charge provides up to 40 minutes of use
Points of praise:
- Some reviewers purchased the Dyson V8 after owning the V6 and reported noticing an improvement. Although they didn’t claim to be unhappy with the V6, many said that the V8 was more powerful and picked up a larger quantity of dirt and dust.
- The highest power setting (Max Mode) latest longer than expected. One reviewer was pleased that they could vacuum their whole apartment while still having plenty of battery life left.
- The vacuum was lightweight and easy to manoeuvre, meaning that people could clean hard-to-reach crevices and corners of the house.
- Three large, shedding dogs proved to be no match for this vacuum cleaner. A happy reviewer mentioned that they could finally remove the mess their dogs had left behind.
