I use this Dyson on granite, floating timber as well as carpets in formal area and my car. I was asked not to use regular vacuum cleaner by my osteopath due to pain on my spine. As a result I had cleaner service weekly but stopped it during covid. My daughter left her Dyson vacuum when she went overseas. Now I use it and have no problem with pain unlike in the past. It’s design is great and worked well for a while. Lately had battery changed (3 yrs )there after it functions well.
Purchased for $799.

Mostly on carpeting. And some hard floors. Works really well on carpeting. Vacuum could benefit from longer lasting charge options. The storage attachments need improvement like easy attaching wall mounts.

Quiet motor.
Effective rotation brush for cleaning a variety of surfaces without impacting negatively on the surface.
Efficiently and effectively cleans tiled areas quickly.
Design is creative from the aspect of cleaning under hard to get at areas. It is versatile.
We have found the product effective, especially on tiles and wooden flooring. It lacks effectiveness in thoroughly cleaning particulate matter from carpets. We like the product, however, I believe it lacks the drawi...

We have used our Dyson cordless vacuum for over 12 months now and find it to be so efficient on all types of flooring and so very easy to use. The life of the battery pleasantly surprised us along with the attachments for other uses such as car cleaning.

I absolutely love my Dyson stick vacuum. It is so quick and easy to use and it actually makes vacuuming enjoyable. The only thing that I think is missing is a snib where it holds the button on so that you don’t have to hold it down yourself with your finger. I manage to get a blister on my pointer finger every time I use it!

On the maximum setting, it goes flat after 10mins. It lasts longer on the standard setting, but not as strong. Vacuuming anticipating it to go flat. Had to keep the old corded vacuum for times when the whole house needs to vacuumed. It also can't pick up raw rice from tiles on either setting.

I purchased the Dyson V8 animal from David Jones 4 years ago. The Vaccum had done an amazing job. I have all 3- Tiles, timber flooring and carpet and it always does an amazing job in all 3 surfaces. It is really handy when you have kids out and about as its a cordless vaccum and simply easy to clean up mass made by kids within minutes. It is definitely worth having one around.
I would give it a 5 star but i am starting to have battery problems now. But it has definitely done it job in the last 4 years.

The brushes really lift off the hairs and fur bits of pets in the house. Sometimes it vacuums up so much, it can clog up with the longer hairs of my dog. Just have to take the head off the stick and clear it. Canister a little hard and awkward to empty, though, thus 4 stars. Battery lasts for ages and easily available when a replacement is needed. Using is easy and effectively efficient on all surfaces. Would recommend.

Had this for 3 years, the best decision and money well spend. Reliable and awesome suction for pet fur on rug or tile floor. Great size for a small person like myself (5"1). Battery doesn't last long but I would never exchange it with other vacuum cleaner.

My Dyson has been doing the job admirably for several years. It has been working well on both hardwood floors, carpet, tiles and floor rugs - moving to one surface to another with ease. It picks up fine pet hair but sometimes struggles with larger particles of dirt due the size of the rotating brush in the head of the unit. For optimal efficiency the head needs to be cleaned regularly.

I bought this vacuum on sale, I would not pay full price for it.
I live in a townhouse and can only do one level at a time on max suction before the battery runs out. It takes a while to charge so I often have to do downstairs one day and upstairs the next. I don’t think there should be an option for less than mac suction because it doesn’t perform well.
On max suction, the v8 sucks up dog hair, human hair and all the detritus left by a 4-year old child with ease. It’s easy to empty and doesn’t harbour odours. I’ve had it for two years and the ...

This vacuum is great! I use on my hardwood floors and carpet and it works great. Comes with multiple attachments - the best is the mini motorised head which is perfect for carpets and couches and gets every bit of dust. The hard surface head doesn’t scratch my hardwood floors either. Profile is sleek too so it can hang in my pantry. Only issue I have is the battery… doesn’t last as long as I would like it to.
Purchased at JB Hi-Fi for $899.
Questions & Answers
We have hardwood floors throughout our house but we also have a long haired dog. I know the V8 animal is designed for pets and we are very open to that fact, however my question is, would the standard Dyson V8 do the job just as well [or close to as well] given the hard floor consideration or do you really only recommend the animal or animal plus version even with hard floors? Huge thanks!

Hi Todd,
Once you’ve got the bin open, feel free to remove and reattach the cyclone and bin - it may help to realign things if the parts had become slightly out of alignment. As shown here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HasqpSd3Xfw...

As of December 2020, the Dyson V8 is the highest-rated cordless and stick vacuum cleaner on ProductReview. As well as being the highest rated, the V8 is also more afordable than other Dyson cordless and stick vacuum cleaners - such as the V11, which is around $300 more expensive.
Features:
- The V8 series includes 4 different vacuum cleaners, with a $100 difference in price
- Two power options: Max Mode for extra power, which is good for tough clumps of dirt or pet hair; and Powerful Mode, which allows for longer usage, but may provide a slighlty weaker suction
- A 5-hour charge provides up to 40 minutes of use
Points of praise:
- Some reviewers purchased the Dyson V8 after owning the V6 and reported noticing an improvement. Although they didn’t claim to be unhappy with the V6, many said that the V8 was more powerful and picked up a larger quantity of dirt and dust.
- The highest power setting (Max Mode) latest longer than expected. One reviewer was pleased that they could vacuum their whole apartment while still having plenty of battery life left.
- The vacuum was lightweight and easy to manoeuvre, meaning that people could clean hard-to-reach crevices and corners of the house.
- Three large, shedding dogs proved to be no match for this vacuum cleaner. A happy reviewer mentioned that they could finally remove the mess their dogs had left behind.
