Very good product
Sales process excruciating. Product excellent. Installation excellent. Offset the angst. We ordered 6 windows from Jared in June 2020. We replaced our windows due to the heat from the northerly sun. It has been pretty good for thermal control. Noise reduction a bonus I hadn't expected to be so good. The installers were exceptional. Here for 1.5 days. Two installers. Extremely good. Tidied up. Cleaned up. Today we are looking at another 11 windows upstairs. Want to make a better thermal balance and to not have to paint.
Worth the effort. Good service.
We ordered 10 or 12 windows from Jared back in mid to late 2019. Around that time. We wanted to cut down on noise and improve insulation and also to be able to easily open them. The other windows were getting old. We heard Ecostar on the radio. We like the noise reduction, it is a vast improvement. We live on a busy corner with lots of cars and trucks going past. It really reduces the noises. Its a great change. The thermally performance has improved. The
ease of use is good. Easy to open. Look good. We find them solid. There were 4 installers who were here for a couple of days.
Expensive, variable installation quality and repeated call backs for repair
The quote process with hard sell and sexist questions are true - as per other reviews. But I succumbed to these expensive windows, which I had installed over three separate installations. The first order and deposit made in January 2020, was for four windows (you get a bigger 'discount' if you order four). However when the guys came to install them in April, there were only three windows. Apparently the surveyor had neglected to order one of them. I was required to complete the payment for all four windows on the day, even though one had not ev...en started manufacture. I was given a discount in order to complete the payment. I then had another 20 weeks to wait for the fourth window, holding up other work on my renovation. A second installer came to install the window when it finally arrived. These two installations appeared to be reasonably well done and insulated except caulking was not done above the kitchen window. At the time of ordering the replacement fourth window, I ordered six additional windows and a laundry window and door. The installation of these was exceptionally poor. I asked for the lower architrave to be left off as with previous installations (as I will install it after the floating floors are installed), however after these windows were installed in October 2020 the house was freezing! The insulation around the windows was terrible, with gaps between the windows and bearers (pictured). In one window daylight was visible though the insulation (pictured). Trim had been removed from the outside between the window and eaves, the trim was broken and a gap left between the installed window and eaves. When I complained to a manager about the quality of the insulation he said that they don't insulate to the bearers! My house has foil insulation and I have had insulation pumped into the walls and installed underfloor. Given the window size of replacement windows is reduced so they can fit them in easily, without proper and full insulation around the window, the only insulation around the window is the architraves, which is insufficient as a form of insulation or noise reduction - very poor indeed given what I paid for and what is advertised as high quality noise and thermal insulation! A repair man came to improve the expanding foam installed, but I ended up completing the job after he left with more expanding foam and insulation. Three days after installation, the laundry door would not lock, so the house was unsecure. I called for a repair, which was not able to be offered for three days, leaving me feel quite vulnerable during that time. The repair man took the door apart and it locked after that. A couple of weeks later on the Monday afternoon before Melbourne Cup, the same thing happened again. I called, but the office had gone home early, so again it was another three days before someone could come and fix the door so it would lock. This time lots of 'spare parts' were removed. At the same time one of the windows was jamming on closing - within month of installation - and it was fixed, but still hits the side of the window on closing. The door has worked for five months now, but I've been very nervous about it happening again. I have since had a security screen installed with the sister company - the only company that you can use to keep your warranty. And of course this comes at a premium price! Do your research - get other quotes before you call this company, knowing it will be expensive, with hard, sexist sell, time consuming, a long delivery time with the risk of poor installation and the need for repair calls. They have a full time employee who goes around doing repairs - but don't dare mention that you expected better for the money you paid, as apparently he tires of hearing it everyday day!
Great but expensive product with archaic sales process and very poor customer service
We have now purchased windows from Ecostar in 3 lots over the past 4 years. The windows do what they say and what we needed, reducing heat gain or loss and reducing sound intrusion into the house. I was only home for the installation the 3rd time (now working from home). The technicians undertaking the installation appear competent and fairly tidy about their clean-up inside the house, although a bit rough about where they set-up their drop saw for trimming timber, leaving sawdust through the garden.
I have been constantly disappointed with...the archaic high pressure sales tactics and long-winded discussion that HAD to occur for each sale in our house. They insist you must have their salesperson in your home for 1-2 hours. The salesperson takes some measurements and puts together a quote, but spends a lot of needless time talking about the company and the manufacturing process. The Salesperson puts the quote together and then tells you about discounts available, including an extra one which is only available for you if you sign-up tonight. My initial reaction the first time was to tell him to go jump, but my partner wanted to proceed, so we did. These same high pressure tactics and waste of time in your house were still required for subsequent orders (of course, once we had some of their windows, we needed to go with them again to ensure the windows all look the same). In the 21st century, we should be beyond inflated prices that are specifically designed to allow for discounts. The other area of complete failure for this company is customer service. There is almost none. Their office can't provide information when you ask for it and are very poor at returning calls or emails. Once the windows are ready to go they are very pushy to get them installed just as quickly as possible, but up to that point it can be very hard obtaining any updates. As someone who has worked in customer service for 20+ years I just cannot fathom how such a company can survive with such an uncaring attitude towards their customers. Shop around and I'm sure you can find a better solution of equal quality for less cost and far less issues
95% maintenance free. Just give it a rub down every now and then.
Excellent from a thermal perspective. Noise reduction good. Australian standards are 3 mil glass, 10 mil gap and then 3 mil glass. The Ecostar one with 4 mil glass, 20 mil space and 4 mil is suitable for Australian standards.
I saw Ecostar at the shopping centre in Endeavour Hills. Office were fine. Quote process with Jared was fine. Fully explanatory. Laid out clearly what you are getting.
Money well spent
One great thing is that we live on a busy road. The busiest road in the area. The road has been resurfaced at night time and our neighbors have not been able to sleep due to the noise, we haven't been affected and have been able to sleep. Our daughter Jo was previously bothered by people walking by going to McDonalds talking and now she doesn't hear it any more. The noise has reduced in a huge way. More than a 50% reduction.
The comfort level has been great. We use now less electricity. Brick home and with double glazing our home is now ...very efficient. We don't use as much air conditioning as we did before. Not to hot, not to cold. We save on electricity, gas and bills because of the double glaze. I love how it looks. The material is great. Our friends say it looks good. We like the lack of maintence. Good tradesmen. Took away the old window. We ordered four windows from Jared in late 2019. Two bedrooms and the living room. Service from the office good. They follow up and email. Previously our architraves were kd, and we would like the same again. I have been a builder for decades in Australia. The quality windows make a difference. Reduce noise. Save electricity.
If you can afford it, I believe it is a good idea.
Good quality product. Consultant did a good job.
Better than the common or popular product in the market. If you can afford it, I believe it is a good idea
Been happy with the installation and the product
We had 60s aluminum windows and the cold came through.
The energy side of them has been excellent. It has transformed the thermal efficiency of this house.
If we have the heating going, now it is too hot, where with the previous windows it wasn't enough.
It has reduced the noise from the logging trucks.
We ordered 6 windows from Jared in 2017. We found out about ecostar from a google search.
Installation was good.
The noise reduction has been good.
We ordered 3 windows from Jared in 2019.
Overall happy. Today we are looking at getting another window.
Good Quality, but not cheap.
Windows are high quality. We like that they do not need to be maintained. The windows coming in from England we like, but not how long it takes to arrive. The quote from Jared was very good. Very kind person.
We first ordered the front of the house, the living room and the main office. Four at the front and the master bedroom.
We are really concerned with safety and security. We don't want people to see thin standard aluminum windows on our house. They are the cheapest ones that typical builders use.
In 2018 we order the dining room, parents room, living room and the master bedroom from Jared.
I like how beautiful they look. It's the most important thing for the house.
Great looking windows that not only look good but are great for climate control
We placed our first order with Ecostar 10 years ago. We started with the dining room and kitchen. Friends have came to see them.
We were looking for noise reduction and insulation. Mainly thermal insulation and the noise reduction was a bonus.
It is now heaps cooler inside. It keeps it warmer inside in winter.
We are now placing our fourth order. We have placed 3 so far. Our second order was the bedrooms, en suite and bathroom, and the third was the lounge area. All that's left is the front door which we are doing today.
We have found the installation teams to be pretty good.
Thermal improvement and Airflow
We first ordered with Ecostar about 10 years ago.
We wanted to improve the thermal performance of the home and get rid of condensation. The windows have been great regarding the condensation. It used to be really bad. We would have black mold. And now nothing really.
The windows have helped thermally. When it is really hot outside it is now cooler inside.
We get better airflow in our house now.
The reduced maintenance is nice.
After our first order we have subsequently ordered in 2013, Nov 2014, 2015, ...
Make the house look nice and more comfortable
I like double glazing. Ecostar's window frames looks nice. The quality is good.
I saw Ecostar in the shopping centre in Parkmore shopping center.
I am looking for noise reduction and a new style of window.
The office members of Ecostar were pleasant to deal with.
The quote was perfect.
We ordered two bays windows, a side window and another out the back. 8 windows in total. We saw Ecostar at the homeshow in 2018.
We wanted to improve thermal performance. We wanted to keep it warm in winter. We wanted to cut out the noise.
The house is MUCH cooler. It used to be very hot. Now it is much cooler where we have done the windows. The noise has reduced.
The installers were very professional and through. The windows were installed in two days.
Today we ordering another 7 items. A front door and 6 windows.

I am only interested in noise reduction as I live on a busy road. Could you provide the RW rating of your various products?
Sorry Peter, we missed this question. Our standard double glazed glass unit will eliminate 80% of external noise. If acoustic glass is used in the unit, them almost 100%.

How much does a standard room window cost?
Ni Idea Bernard. I didn't buy the windows.
