Great fridge good freezer.
My 21 litre Engel was bought mainly for taking away for one or two day trips. I also own Bushman 35/52 fridge /freezer for longer trips away .We use it at home as a drinks fridge,we have used it as a freezer. If it is filled with meal sized meat portions, only the top section will freeze, the next day put the top frozen meat to the bottom, bottom to the top.The evaporator plate is several inches above the bottom of the fridge. To use it as a freezer there is no need to set the thermostat any higher than 3 ,the temp inside is -15 degrees .If it ...is set on 4 or 5 it will run continuously for 3 or 4 degrees colder.I have found the compressor a little louder than my bushman, but not anoying.I am very happy with the performance and power draw of this fridge.I bought this fridge/freezer from bcf Bundaberg for 829 dollars in december 2018.
engel 21 litre as freezer
My 21 litre Engel is used as a freezer in conjunction with my 40 litre engel which I use as fridge. Both are mounted permanently in the back of my Prado using a ctek DC to DC charger and 120 watt solar panel on the roof racks. These two fridges perform flawlessly however the 21 litre model runs constantly when on freeze so be prepared for lots of battery drain. Also it doesn't make ice as quickly as my home fridge so best to load it up with frozen products before making tracks.
