Cancellation credit request for refund

A booking for a holiday in Fiji made early 2022 with expedia had to be cancelled due to my wife contracting breast cancer.
A credit note was given by Fiji Air 27/4/22 with an expiry of 31/12/23.
With my wifes ongoing treatment, we are unable to travel and sought a refund, documentation was sought twice and supplied to Expedia.
Five times we requested a refund with not one response.
I am told today credit is now expired and money has been lost.
We sought refund on compassonate grounds, so as to give us the flexibility of travel in the future when

Hotel booking on Expedia is not valid, hotel may deny booking at the last moment!!!

I booked hotel in Hobart through expedia 5 weeks ago. All good until 5 days before by travel when RACV hotel called and said that they don't have rooms as mentioned in the booking confirmation so they cancelled my booking. I contacted expedia, they said they dont care. Hotel says-dont trust booking agent, they dont have accurate information. Both of them say-we are sorry, that's all. Now I am trying to book somewhere else, everything is 3 time more expensive than 5 weeks ago. Very annoying, don't know where to complain about it. Show details

Their bookings are not valid

We booked accommodation for two adults and one child in Perth, WA, for a month. We didn't have accommodation when we arrived. Didn't want to solve the problem, suggested we spend one night on the street.
We checked twice more to make sure we had a reservation and that it would start on the right day. We received 2 replies that everything was correct.
Avoid Expedia if possible.

Stay away from Expedia, save your money and time!

when you book your flight with Expedia and fingers crossed the journey will start as planned or if you have any change so you need to cancel your flight and save the so called "credit" for future plan, soon you will realize that the "credit" will cost your more than book with airline again... after being loyal customer of Expedia for 15 years, I said no more. I strongly recommend everyone to book directly from any airline directly and become a member of that airline. Show details

They deserve no stars. They are the absolute worst company I have ever dealt with. 11 phone calls and still no help. No refund. They give me an American number to ring from Australia. 10 phone calls to them and no answer. They give false emails . Never use them. No refund. Nothing. Appalling company. Show details

Absolute joke, do not use

Appaling customer service, rude, interrupting, and lying staff. I tried to book for 2 adults and 4 kids, but somehow it only booked 2 adults. I didn't recieve a confirmation email from expedia, I got a link in a text with my itinerary which wouldn't open as their website wasn't working. No address, had to sit waiting for ages for the hotel to pick up to give us the address. Then we were told there were extra fees of $900 we had to pay. Pathetic

Unbelievable service. Stuffed up my entire holiday, I had booked well in advance for obvious reasons but ended up woth last minute expenses. it was entirely their fault but I had to suffer for it. After spending hours on the phone apparently they refunded my booking but I haven't received the money. The so called agents, they seem to be reading from a script. Woeful

Spent 2 hours on the phone with Expedia agents - Raj then Ajay then Alfredo (”supervisor”) who didn’t have access to cancel the tickets and process the refunds. They said it was their policy to make the customer wait on the phone while they process the refund, otherwise they had to stop processing but they couldn’t tell me how long more it was going to take and didn’t sound like they were making any progress. Said they couldn’t let me off the phone and communicate over email or app or SMS. Told them I’d be following up my refund request with my CC company Show details

can't change my booking

I couldn't change my booking within one hour even though the airline said I could, and the customer representative was useless in that they couldn't help me other than telling me to call the airline directly. Even worse, they couldn't give me the correct number!!! Show details

Dishonesty

They are making claims of 72% discounts for a hotel in Melbourne when they original price is overinflated by over 50% I have screenshots and their customer service said they don’t control prices, I mean what do they control? If not the prices of the properties they advertise. Great prices and communication

I booked several hotels through Expedia and never had any issues - prices are always competitive and communication is good. Even refunds were processed quickly and with no issues. Also love how you earn $ rewards off future bookings Show details

No Solution

Wanted to change a 3 night stay to one but only got an automated response.
Stuck in a pub with shared toilet and shower .
Also had a band on which was OK but after their gig had finished they decided to wind down rock n roll style.
Stomping up and down the corridor and talking as loud as they could ya hooing out side my window on the balcony until 3:30 am.
Then the pub staff rock up at 7am and put the music back on.
Will forfeit my third night , found another option in town. Show details

Never Again

Booked two nights in Halls Gap for a wedding in early November. Called the motel to confirm a few days before and all was well. Arrived to check in to find our booking had been cancelled by Expedia. Discovered it was because our credit card had been updated to a new one since we booked but Expedia never bothered to let us know. What a disgrace. We were left high and dry. Show details

" AI ... [artificial intelligence] " at its best !!

Found a hotel room for $57 / night, via KAYAK website , followed up with payment , then I was directed to sign into their site,,
But,,, it would not accept my sign in .. so I opened a fresh EXPEDIA page to find the hotel / room,
however the price went from $57 to $98 / night.

So had a " chat" with customer service to no avail.
They claimed it was always changing,, ie ... [ with in 30 secs to log onto their web site ]
and they continued to try and take a booking at the $98 / night cost.

Needless to say, I dropped the booking and cancelled an earlier booking from a few days ago due to their
" UN-ETHICAL " conduct.
and to you EXPEDIA .. will be making a formal complaint to the relevant authorities here in Australia.

No booking but they have taken money

I booked a hotel through Expedia and a day or two later I noticed I didn’t receive a confirmation email so I tried to contact the fir 5 days now and they cannot tell me if there is a booking or not as there system is down!!!! They keep saying call back in 72 hours then I did then they said try tomorrow then I did and now they say try in a few hours! So frustrating Show details

Rate Discrepancy

We booked a room a the Pullman Phuket with Expedia showing the following rates in local and AUD THB42,250.06 ($1,165.68). Two days later when we checked in the exchange rate is $1,837.24. This also happened at another hotel we booked via Expedia. It looks like Expedia play with the exchange rates to make the deal look better. Show details

WORST CUSTOMER SERVICE-NO CUSTOMER CARE

If I could give no stars on my review I would. We recently had to leave our hotel 4 days early as the rats in the walls at night were keeping us awake. The hotel were very apologetic and approved a refund but told us we had to go through the booking agent Expedia.
Expedia have denied the refund because we had used a voucher from Covid cancellation back in 2021 and told us it’s only allowed to be a one time use!!! Their customer service is a disgrace. They have zero care factor for any problem guests may have. The hotel confirmed they will refund Expedia but Expedia will not refund us. The amount we lost was over $600.
A BIG WARNING NOT TO USE THEM AS IF THINGS DONT GO TO PLAN THEY DONT CARE AND YOU WILL LOSE YOUR MONEY. Show details

Expedia - Never again

Tried to book a hire car in Brisbane.
I selected my preferred vehicle and proceeded to give my card details as requested.
The site then announced that my preference was no longer available and I should select from other( more expensive)cars.
I decided not to proceed but they still put a hold for over $300 on my MasterCard.
Tried to contact them but, couldn't speak to anyone because I had no booking number.
How can they Regency my booking and yet still put a hold on my card?
That was my first and only experience with Expedia.

Scam - false advertising

Advertised a 'Premium Economy' fare which I purchased. When I got the itenary from airline it was simply a 'Flex Economy' fare.

Literally a scam. Have raised to ACCC.

Book direct with carriers, customer service is a joke- simply tried to handball to airline and no help. Show details

This is what you are risking buying tickets with Expedia

Ticket advertised/sold with 2 free checked in luggage, but when check in at the airport, airline operator say only one. The price to send the second luggage is very expensive, lucky we have 6 people and each carried some as carry on luggage, so had to unpack in front of all the people in the queue and carry all the extra items with us. Poor post-sale customer service

Poor post-sale customer service. Been asking for my money back for refund that the airline themselves have okayed but Expedia are not returning the money. They are giving one excuse after another!!! Airline has refunded the money to them but they are not passing it back to me. 1.5 years and waiting!!

Never again would I book through Expedia

Made a booking money taken from bank 'pending to expedia' but no email confirmation received. I was not easily able to access support as they had no record of a booking. Eventually I managed to speak to a human (an hour later) who said there is no booking finalised, perhaps the room was no longer available. They said money should come back to me within 24 hours!!!!! I then made the same booking, same room with booking.com email confirmation straight away. I will never book through expedia again a waste of an hoir and money tied up for 24 hours (assuming it will actually come back). Show details

Awful - there will be issues and the customer service is atrocious

Booked a series of flights from australia to the US and one of them was changed by the US airline. No problem. Was offered a refund on the entire booking. Expedia have been contacted no less than 19 times about this refund and, MONTHS later - still no money. Pretty sure this is illegal. Show details

Facilitating connection with shady partners

Hired a car through NU car rentals and Expedia. Overcharged. Deposit not returned. Hidden/unexplained fees charged to card. Expedia took little interest trying to recover charges, which it turns out NU has a reputation for. Poor form Expedia working with crooks… when you lend your reputation to them it suffers as well.

Australians Avoid!

I checked out accommodation in Australia. I booked the accommodation, total price $411.50. Bank account debited $668 . Contacted Expedia, tried to cancel and was shocked by the response, " We dont do refunds, since your hotel does not refund us. The price among hundreds of gold coast accommodation ads was in US dollars, not Australian Dollars. I was duped, this is deliberate marketing con. Avoid Expedia. Show details

Booked accomodation through Expedia. The property did not meet the standard advertised, and Expedia’s response was simply “not our problem - take it up with the owner”. If they are going to list a property and receive a commission they need to take responsibility that it meets the standard they are advertising! Show details

DO NOT USE! Absolutely appalling

As others have experienced, I am in Australia and they charged in US dollars. Not only that, they charged me TWICE for flights and after contacting the airline, I was told to contact Expedia. I spoke to Ryan via the chat and despite being able to see two charges on their system and my uploading evidence of being charged twice, I was told that their "system" says the first charge was cancelled and to contact the bank. Absolutely disgraceful site, it is appalling that they are still able to get away with this. DO NOT USE!! Show details
