I took out insurance with FastCover on the recommendation of finder.com. Insurance premium paid in August 2019 to travel in August 2020. With the Covid19 situation that is now impossible. Have rung this insurer numerous times to cancel my policy and get a refund, have even emailed the resolutions department of the underwriter but no one can tell me what is happening with my paid premium. I was told that it had been put on hold and I asked for that to be confirmed in writing which has not happened as yet. Still don’t know if I can defer or get a refund, no one has emailed me with any details at all. I will certainly be taking further action if I don’t receive written confirmation.
Disappointing that a common occurrence is not covered. Would not use again.

I am someone that has gone through the claim process for a very common claim, generally.
I had taken out a Comprehensive Policy (many times before) however, due to my misreadings I, unfortunately, fell into the trap of reading the positive reviews and having never gone through a claim.
After my experience I can now say that I will never buy a Fast Cover insurance again, as under their Trip Cancellation/Trip Delay section, they DO NOT cover "For Delays or reschedule by a ...bus line, airline, shipping line or rail authority unless it is due to a strike, riot, hijack, civil protest, severe weather or natural disaster." I had contacted emergency services to ask for advice and they said given the circumstances, I should submit a claim with a letter from the airline confirming the cancellation and inability from the airline to get me on another flight for another 5 days. When I had submitted my claim upon my return I was then told, that they wouldn't cover it, only when I said I was advised otherwise (provided proof) did they then do so. This is a very general and common occurrence with airlines and I was deeply disappointed to find out that when my flights were cancelled by the airline with no rebooking for another 5 days I was left with no choice but to utilise my insurance and with the added stress. Added to that, my partner was using his default credit card insurance and was covered with no problems. A credit blanket insurance covered such a common occurrence vs the Fast Cover paid for Comprehensive Insurance. Shocking, really. I have learned my lesson and will not be repurchasing the Fast Cover insurances ever again nor recommending it to anyone anymore. This is such a common occurrence that I would hope my insurance like MANY OTHERS do actually cover and give me peace of mind while overseas. I was always so focused on reading the medical side of insurances that I missed this and thought it was common practice. I warn everyone that wants peace of mind to use another insurance company unless you are willing to accept that you are not covered.

I had a medical episode and massive damage to my luggage all on the same trip. Sent through claim for both incidents, they said they had to treat it as 2 claims so 2 x excesses had to be paid. What a rip off.

My mother died suddenly while I was overseas. I put my claim through as soon as I was able and it took 4 months to process. They wouldn't accept her death certificate and we were made to wait for a coroner's report. I finally received an email saying I would get 3/4 of what I claimed. Even then, it was to be paid in installments. 2 weeks later and I'm still waiting for the second installment. Just ridiculous. I went through the worst experience of my life losing my mum and Fast Cover showed no help or compassion in processing my claim.

Misleading Information on Facebook Ad
This is the first time I’ve ever got travel insurance due to the items I was carrying with me (a desktop computer tower and hard drives). I found out about this company through Facebook who had an advertisement saying you’ll get up to $50 off using a coupon code on the ad. Several people in the comments said they tried the coupon and it didn’t work, however the company replied to all comments saying they’ll manually put the discount on. When I bought it, surprise surprise no discount happened, so I contacted them and was told the discount only ...applies to $200+ insurance covers, which was NOT mentioned anywhere on the Facebook advertisement - hence a misleading company. My desktop computer ended up getting broken thanks to the idiots at Sri Lanka immigration, however I couldn’t make a claim on it being broken... I would not ever buy travel insurance from anyone again. It’s just a waste of money and as with all insurance companies, they’ll try everything they can to not pay out anything and steal your money.

Easy To Purchase Insurance, But Don't Bother Claiming
I've purchased Fast Cover insurance on several occasions but had yet to actually make a claim with them until recently. I had some items stolen from my car while on holiday in Ireland. I filled out a claim form and had undertaken all the relevant police reports, gathered all my documents but alas their policy of 10 business days seemed to blow to well over a month before I had an answer to my claim.
After several emails back and forth, they decided to exclude my claim. My items were taken while I was unloading my car and so they have argued...that it was stolen "in a public place". I really felt like they were directing me to answer questions so that they could push my claim into the "Policy Exclusion Box" and not pay out. I do understand that many things aren't covered under travel insurance, but I do feel in this case, they were making it fit into a box to avoid paying out. While the value of goods stolen wasn't huge, I'm more annoyed in principle, as I always make sure I'm covered with insurance while travelling. I'd switched to Fast Cover after using Covermore for 10+ years, but I definitely won't be doing that again. I think I'll have to go the financial ombudsman with this one to resolve the situation. I guess that's what happens when you switch to a cheaper company. To be honest I was quite disappointed, as their website was easy to use, and purchasing insurance was so easy and simple. It's a pity making a claim turned into such a drawn out and convoluted process.
Unfortunately I have to give my experience with Fast Cover 2 stars. My family and I travel often and we typically purchase the best value for money deal that we could find, even if that meant that our correspondence were with people from overseas and long wait times on the phone. However this time, we were willing to spend a little bit more money and decrease our excess to make sure that if any incidents occurred we would have easy communication with insurance representatives from Australia and a no fuss experience (which is what most of the re...viewers had pronounced, however in hindsight a lot of them hadn't had to make a claim). Our initial contact with Fast Cover seemed promising - our calls were taken promptly whilst we were overseas and the emergency reps would respond speedily via email. When we arrived back from our trip, we did not want to fill out pages and pages of paperwork online so the representative was very helpful to get the process started over the phone, however progress quickly slowed down. Two weeks later I received an email saying they were still waiting on my attachments of receipts and emails even though I had sent them the day the claim was made (meaning they had not even looked at my documents yet) and even though Fast Cover's turn around is supposed to be 10 working days. I would email intermittently asking for updates with no response. I would finally call and the representative said that the emails were not working (how is it possible for such a breakdown of communication to occur for days without any updates via Facebook or even a phone call). Then my claim needed additional supporting documents which prolonged this frustrating experience even further. This lack of efficiency is just unacceptable for the premium that we paid for. It has been almost 1 month that we have finally settled all claims. The only person who apologized for the irritation was a representative who had to take a message for me since the rep handling our claim was not at her desk. Though the lady handling our claims was polite enough, she (and her manager - as the manager was the one supposedly approving or disapproving claims) was neither apologetic or empathetic and obviously did not treat this claim with enough urgency. We are disappointed that we drew the short straw, especially since there are raving reviews about this company.
After returning from our holidays we got spam from Fast Cover so rather than open it I hit the "unsubscribe" tab which took me straight to google calendar and locked me in with all our personal details of upcoming flights etc, this is outrageous !!! you shouldn't get spam just because your a customer but they automatically do this and it's wrong, but it's totally unacceptable that when you hit the unsubscribe tab you get any thing but unsubscribed , I'd like to know who is responsible for this blatant breach of privacy and why they did it ,

Not as Good as it Sounds
I have used Fast Cover many times before as I felt is was good value for money and easy to set up. However a good friend of mine said that you don't know how good an insurance company is until you have to make a claim. I have never had to make a claim until our most recent trip. Our flight was delayed because of a plane issue (for 17 hours and 25 minutes) and we missed a connecting flight and could not join our cruise until 24 hours later. On our return I phoned in to lodge a claim and was told by a most uncourteous operator that according to s...ome fineprint on p32 of the PDS we would not be covered for the 1 night's accommodation and a half day tour that we missed because it was due to an airline issue and it would be pointless lodging a claim. Not at all happy and I shall not be using Fast Cover again. We are travelling again in 2 weeks and I shall be sourcing a different company and reading all the fineprint thoroughly. I have already researched other companies and have found some with similar pricing as Fast Cover that would pay out for such an event.

I'm trying to take out travel insurance for me and my girlfriend and was happy to find that you're offering travel insurance for couples on your website. I proceeded to put in the details to get a quote. Then, in the policy summary before payment, it explicitly states that only 1 adult traveller is covered. There's also no option to add another person. What's the purpose of a couples insurance if it only covers 1 person?
So, if you can't even get your products and sales process right, how can I trust you're getting anything right when I actually have to make a claim?
