Terrible stainless steel finish
We bought this fridge around a year ago and while the fridge itself works fine the finish is horrendous. Every single finger mark is visible and it scratches incredibly easily. We have been very careful to limit anything touching it and be super careful when opening after a few early scratches so have no idea how it scratches so easily. Prior to this fridge I had (and still own) a Westinghouse double door fridge and the stainless steel on it showed no fingerprints. After 14 years and with small kids posting and sticky taping things to it it...still has no scratches. Unfortunately it doesn’t fit in the fridge hole else I would move that 14 year old fridge into the kitchen. It looks a million bucks compared to this one. Very disappointed.

No Egg Tray!!!
Having been a Fisher & Paykel customer for all my adult life, I once again turned to them when I recently needed to replace our old Fisher & Paykel refrigerator. We took delivery of our new fridge just two days ago. The first thing that struck me is the overall decline in the quality of Fisher & Paykel products. From their former reputation as "high quality" the new fridge carries some of the characteristics and feel of "cheapness". One example was the "missing" egg trays. The manual for the fridge talks about the need to keep eggs in the ...fridge, so I thought it quite strange that the egg trays were missing. I called the "Customer Service" line (which in itself is a painful experience) and after several transfers of my call between India and Australia was eventually told that the fridge does not come with egg trays. Thinking that it was very strange that a new fridge would not come with egg trays, I then asked "why"? The response (again after being put on hold for a further 15 minutes), was, and I quote "a marketing decision" and that "there was no real reason". I was told that I could purchase them from "spare parts". So I asked if egg trays were available for this model and was told yes - they are available for purchase. So for the sake of what would be a $0.90 moulded plastic egg tray, they have taken the marketing decision to not include egg trays with a new refrigerator, and disenfranchised a lifelong Fisher & Paykel customer and advocate. Even if some customers have provided feedback that they did not require egg trays, why would Fisher & Paykel not include them since they are simply placed into the existing shelving? The decline of a quality brand can take many years, but once the brand reputation is damaged, its stays damaged. I won't be recommending Fisher & Paykel to family or friends any longer.

Jury is out.
Fridge keeps food cold and frozen OK. Feature wise nothing to complain about. No breakdowns so far. It is compact for a French door, for me that was a plus. Like most modern fridges, some shelving components feel like they are going to break in your hands at any moment. The freezer door movement feels 'cheap' and doesn't move smoothly. It may prove me wrong in time, and is possibly better than average therefore won't mark it down on this account. What I really didn't like was the weakness of the frame which again could be a symptom of the times.... The manual even recommends adjusting the feet to square up the doors which is only possible due to frame weakness. In addition, it is quite noisy for a new fridge which is amplified by small vibrations which is at times enough to 'clink' bottles inside. Mine sits on a very square flat solid timber floor and sounded like a 'chaff cutter' before adjusting the feet. Just tolerable now but in time could become an issue.

Keeps food fresh
We’ve had this for 8 months, and are still impressed with how long it keeps produce fresh, both in the crisper drawers and just in the fridge if we run out of space.
The door shelves and set up means there is a lot of room.
We were nervous about the freezer (we use a decent amount of freezer space), but the two level drawer set up means it’s fairly easy to organise, but maybe not perfect if you freeze lots of food and can’t keep track of it (the bottom level is a bit deep, so things can get buried under other things).
The water dispenser is great - love that it’s flush so saves space inside the fridge. The ice drawer in the freezer does take up some space, but we find it worth it.

Very happy with my new fridge
It cools and freezes just as it should. The water dispenser has a lock feature which is awesome when there's a toddler walking around. I've is always available and can be turned off in the colder months. Keeps vegetables fresh and crisp.
Well done Fisher & Paykel

Great fridge but the filters run out really quickly
We have had this fridge for about 18 months now
Initially we had issues where the water dispenser stopped working and was flowing really slowly (after a few months). F&P were helpful and had a couple of people come and look, eventually it was taken away and they gave us a loan fridge while it was fixed. It worked for a while, but we’ve found the water starts to run really slowly, and when we change the filter this seems to resolve. However the filters are supposed to last 6 months - ours only seem to last a few then the water dispenses at half ...

Ongoing Issues with Water & Ice dispenser. Really bad customer service!!
I brought this fridge in July from Harvey Norman for $1899. The water and ice dispenser worked for about a month. Over the next month and a half they both gradually lost water pressure, taking several minutes to fill a glass of water, and making tiny ice cubes.
I contacted customer service a number of times via email without response. Finally I had enough and decided to call, wait on hold just to organise a service. Sent out a service technician, who told me the filter was faulty and that the issue was now fixed.
Less than 2 weeks after ...the service, again the fridges ice and water dispensers began loosing water pressure. I again sent a number of emails, one with a letter asking for a response within 10 business days, as advised by consumer affairs, again no response to my email or letter as is required under consumer law. Despite fisher & paykel failing to respond to my emails on a number of occasions, with simply no response they failed to explain why this has happened and keeps happening. I again had to ring the service line, wait on hold and explain everything to another operator. 35 minutes on the phone yesterday for fisher & paykel to tell me that they wont offer me a replacement, or refund for the fridge, the only option they would offer me was to again have it serviced. Apparently the fridge filter wont work because there are large amounts of calcium in my area (First time I have herd this, the fisher & paykel service technician said nothing about calcium, he said the filter was faulty & this was never mentioned in previous phone calls.) When I explained that on the property there are 2 houses and the house in the front has the same fridge, but the single door, brought within weeks of each other, and she hasn't experience a problem, they just ignored what I was saying, and said I need a special filter and another service is all they would offer. Without any other options I tried to organise a service which was booked in for Friday. The next day I received a text saying my part was delayed and they would call me when it was in and then organise a service. I called fisher & paykel again, 40 minutes, to resolve absolutely nothing. Ive been again told to just wait for the service and if this doesn't work then they will discuss other options.

It is a very quiet & and an efficient fridge / freezer
I have wanted a French door fridge since they first came out .... but if I am honest they are not as useful as the two door upright fridges ,its something that I didnt think of till I had one .The freezer is the same as a box fridge ,so you dont know whats in the bottom till you have to dig for it, the old fridge you could see everything in it from the side & it was at eye level.also the doors are not wide so you cant put a lot of big bottles in them.you get 4 lie down bottle holders with the fridge ,but that means you take up a full shelf with bottles ...but I still love it

WARNING - Think before you buy
If you are coming from a traditional 2 door fridge to one of these French Door fridge/freezers
Really consider the layout, in my opinion, its a step backwards for the sake of a cool "looking" fridge....
The pull out freezer is so painful to use
Its also smaller than most tradition fridges freezers
It means you pull the draw into you shins, then have to bend down to find things in basically one big bucket.... ewwwwwww
The fridge, Hmmmm 2 doors, so way less door shelf space
You are constantly having to open 2 doors, when you managed with 1 door for decades
Room for Milk and Bottles is very minimal, and they give you these cheap plastic moulds to lay bottles down......

Absolutely love the automatic ice maker, means never being without ice again. When you take some ice it refills the container. Also having free flowing chilled water from the slim line dispenser is very convenient and doesn’t take up any internal room. Overall nice size fridge for the 3 of us.
Annoying Intermittent fault with water dispenser not working most likely freezing up
I have the new model (RF522ADUX5) which just came into the market and superseded the old model (RF522ADUSX5). Everything is good but it has an intermittent fault with the water dispenser either clogging or freezing up every month or so. Sometimes for days unless I play around with it (on /off, pull fridge in and out, take water pipe in and out) after a while it would work again. It has been to the workshop once already where they apparently found a blocked spigot and replaced that but I'm guessing they did not take it apart to check or insulate...the water pipe inside the fridge and they obviously cannot leave it on for weeks to monitor for fault. I just hope its not a design fault with the new model, I know some LG fridges are notorious for this water pipe freezing issue from research on the internet where an aftermarket product is available to thaw the water. I will find out soon as FnP will be replacing the fridge as next course of action, and will update this review accordingly.

Such a great fridge. Huge amount of space in both fridge and freezer. Ice cold water on tap and auto ice! Brilliant. Quiet, energy efficient and very sleek to look at.
Purchased in March 2019 at JB Hi-Fi for $1,799.00.
Excellent fridge. Easy to hook up the ice and water. Great features with the bottle chiller and door alarm and runs very quietly. Large freezer space with 2 large draws.... Perfect size for a family of 4 with room to spare.....Recomended purchase for a smaller fridge space but with the french door feature.
Better than expected
Love my new Fisher and Paykel fridge. Everything I need for a small family and looks great. I have only had the fridge for a few months but have noticed the vegetables remain fresher for much longer than my last fridge. Very happy so far. My only observation is the water spout for filling up a glass of chilled water could be a little wider to allow faster refills.
