I had an lg non agitator washing machine for more than 10 years with two removable lint filters.
Never got any lint (or tissues that were left in pockets by the kids) on the clothes....Regardless of mixing all types of clothes.....Fantastic machine.
When lg died i went to the experts at choice and they recommended the fisher and paykel.
What a disaster from day one....Lint everywhere.
Rang f&p and was told that they have never had such a complaint ever before.
As i was talking to them i went on the internet and found numerous complaints ab...
We bought ours back in 2006 and it's been great.
I love being able to just pop everything in and it sorts out the water level and the load.
We've just had the water tap solenoids replaced, but other than that, it's performed really well. I Agree with Kirsty about top loaders. Faster and more versatile than front loaders.
Large capacity, spins clothes almost dry, excellent service from LV martin
Worst appliance purchase ever !!! ... I will never buy f&p again :(
1/ extremely deceptive advertising re water temperature settings. This is the major reason why it does not wash clothing well ... See explanation below.
2/ the water level sensor is never correct ... I always have to set it manually because it underfllls .. Ie if i leave it up to the water sensor it means the water does not cover the load.
3/ no lint filter ... Clothing ends up covered in lint.
4/ the agitator is a design failure as clothing gets stuck underneath ... I have had buttons ripped off shirts and clothing caught and torn.
This...model advertised @ appliances online states there are 6 water temperature settings .... But ... It fails to mention that they only come into operation for a very small time at the very beginning to dissolve your detergent... The machine fills with cold water. So basically you set your machine to warm or hot but you never get a warm or hot wash. This is why so many people are saying their clothes come out dirtier than when they put them into the washer. This machine was marketed very deceptively, it should have been sold as a cold wash only washing machine .. A cold wash machine that spurts a very minimal amount of hot or warn water at the very beginning to dissolve detergent ... It does not perform a warm or hot wash !!! As an example my beach towels are always oily because the cold wash simply does not remove the oil. My partners house/yardwork shorts and socks are always grimey and never come clean unless i hand wash them .. Isn't that what a machine is meant to do !!!??? This machine should have been sold as a cold wash machine.
The fisher and paykel fabricsmart washer is very easy to use once you have got the washer programed to the settings that suit your needs. This washer has a very flashy screen. I also like how you can check to see how long the wash has got left until it is finished. The other thing i really like about this washer that you can set the water level to auto sensing so you dont have to set the water level each time you do a wash. My only grumble is that the machine gets out of balance with one item or when i wash towels but other than that i really like this fabricsmart washer
Won't wash in hot water
I bought this machine to replace my previous F&P top loader which I had always been happy with. I have twin babies and recently switched to cloth nappies and I wanted to run a strip wash, which involves washing in hot water. I selected 'hot' on the temp panel and came back a few minutes later to add another nappy to the load. I was surprised to find that the water was tepid, almost cold. I checked my hot tap connections, checked the hoses (all fine) and tried a second time. I noticed that the machine ran the hot water for about a minute before ...proceeding to fill the barrel up with cold water. I rang F&P and was told that this was how the machine was supposed to operate. I queried what the point if having temp selection options was if you couldn't actually change the temperature, I was told that the machine 'was doing it's job' and used enough hot water to dissolve the powder only. When I said it was stupid and pointless having a machine that had a warm or hot temp option that only washed in cool water I was basically told that the problem was not with the machine but was with my expectations of it! (God forbid when I select 'hot' I actually want my machine to do a hot wash!) The F&P customer care and technical support were hopeless and bordering on rude. I was told that it was an Eco friendly machine (funny it wasn't advertised to say you can't run a hot wash) and that's the way they worked. So apparently 'Eco friendly' means not hot option at all. It also got a broken lid latch within 6 months of me owning it and needed repairs. It does a reasonable job on an average wash but overall I'm pretty unimpressed. Does a reasonable job on cold wash, no issues with warranty service the first time I needed it fixed Won't wash in hot water, broken part early on, customer care staff rude and hopeless.
Excellent Washing Machine!!
I have recently purchased another Fisher and Paykel top loader after having one for 10 years.
I had the unfortunate experience of buying an LG front loader in between-the LG was total rubbish-did not wash clothes well-took forever to wash clothes-if you used quick wash clothes were never clean so minimum wash time was 1 hr 20 minutes-green machine like hell-total rubbish.
I am so glad to have a Fisher and Paykel top loader again-they wash well they do not take long to wash clothes and are pretty quiet.
Would recommend could not be happier-fo...
Disappointing - leaks and leaves soap residue. Don't buy
I had the old Fisher & Paykel Eco-Intuitive for 9 years before it died as it began leaking from the base of the machine (a lot). I had never experienced any major problems with that machine other than some grey marks on some heavier items (sheets etc) as the machine aged. So I wanted to go F&P again. After reading reviews, I opted for this model, as it also seemed to be similar to the Eco Intuitive. The buttons may be similar, but it ends there.
I have found that it leaves a significant amount of soap/detergent residue on clothes (eviden...t when you put facewasher in the bath and the water bubbles!). So I now put in less than half the previous amount of detergent (less than half a capful) and have changed the rinse cycle and the problem improved a little but still not great. Also, from the first wash almost, with every heavy load (towels, doona covers, bedding etc) it leaks from the base. If i put in a "high" load, it also leaks. This causes me to have to do many more loads to avoid leakage at the bottom because I need to smaller loads and split the heavy loads - a pain and causes more work. Thumbs down F&P. Finally, I purchased from Appliances Online and unlike others here, found that they did not take responsibility for the product fault, despite the consumer law in Australia requiring the retailer to liase with the manufacturer and not the customer. They referred me to F&P and said it was not my problem. My machine is not even 4 months old.
Hope the new one is alright
I purchased my new F&P Fabricsmart 5 days ago from appliances online. They took old Betsy, a Hoover 920 and my trusted workhorse for 28 years. Unfortunately, the new machine only lasted 4 days due to an electronic problem. Appliances online have been great and they are delivering a replacement machine on Mon.
I really like the size
It stopped working

DO NOT PURCHASE THIS MACHINE OR ANY OTHER FISHER AND PAYKEL MACHINE
This machine is a replacement for another more expensive fisher and paykel machine (the difference of money I had to absorb apparently) This machine is terrible just like the other I purchased for 1100.00. I am sure that the other reviews on this site that are positive are posted by fisher and paykel staff, there is no way any one could actually get this machine to wash clothing properly. I will throw this machine on the road side pick up when we next have one. This machine is not worth the money steer clear of anything fisher and payket, the...ir customer service is also poor. I have had a fridge, and dish washer all made by fisher and paykel all had numerous issues right from the start. This washing machine is third time and I am out. Terrible products, poorly made and not worth the money NOTHING GOOD ABOUT THE PRODUCT OR THE CUSTOMER SERVICE EVERYTHING INCLUDING THE LACK OF CUSTOMER SERVICE
Intuitive Eco - Short Life
I have used F & P washing machines for more years than I care to remember. However, this Intuitive Eco has had the shortest life of them all - only 4 years and now off to washing machine heaven. The mother board has gone again (2nd time in 18 months). Not good F & P. Why can't you guys make longer lasting washing machines. Perhaps the more technology you have available the worse your machines become. Very disappointed.
The different cycles especially sports gear, time remaining and delay start
Poor quality machine especially with electronics.
8kg Fisher & Paykel Fabric Smart Top Loading Washing Machine
With our trusted Maytag washer "going to God", we hoped to replace with a reliable, modern unit. The F&P Fabric Smart machine is easy to operate, has plenty of useful program options and cleans the full range of soiled items. Highly recommended product. AppliancesOnline.com.au took the order and had the unit installed and operating within a day wow - great company and top service. Included free delivering and "burial" for old machine. :)
Ease of use, range of programs, capacity, cleaning power, quietness and value for money
Have had this machine for over a year now and have had no problems at all. Beats front loaders anyday! Had a lg front loader before and it always died during a wash! Would never trade my top loader for a front loader ever again. Can not fault this machine at all.
loved the fact I can adjust the wash to whatever I like
Frustrated with dryer
Had Fisher Paykel dryer less than a year, multiple problems. After hours on the phone with FP dryer finally replaced, 3 years later clothes not completely drying! Washer only 4 years old and done! Will never recommend product and feel "robbed" waste of time and money! Will not repair washer currently displaying "power cut" restart in 10 minute-- will replace with another brand for sure!
Good once you get used to it
This machine is great if you don't want to think and great if you want to set all the settings yourself. I love the different stain options. It would be better if it had a lint filter and if you could use sanitiser in it. You cannot wash anything fluffy with anythig you don't want linted up. The manual says don't use sanitiser aa it will corrode the machine.
Different stain settings
No lint filter
Always had Fisher & Paykel washers. Absolutely loved the Eco-Intuitive, (ease of use), wish they made that model again. It was actually my favourite of all the machines. Reluctantly sold it as moved overseas. Then I had the Aquasmart, (the one with a low agitator) a definite don't buy. It was rough on the clothes, didn't finish it's cycles as problems with the module. I now have the 8kg Fabricsmart. It's very much like the Eco-intuitive the same reliable features basically.
Good quality machine
Bought a 'second quality' direct from Fisher and Paykel after a LG died a few weeks out of the 12 month warranty. Our machine cops a beating. Has coped with cloth nappies with no problems.
Only thing I can fault was no information in the guide on how to deal with what turned out to be a clogged filter. They were going to charge $160 call out fee for a technician to do what ended up being a 5 minute job (thank goodness for google!!)
"he only thing wrong with your washing machine is a jammed drain pump. Empty as much water by hand as yo...u can, tilt the machine backwards against the wall and access the pump from underneath. Ther pump comes out by turning it anti clockwise in its housing after holding the white clip on the side away from the locking tab on the pump. You'll be able to see what's holding the pump back from rotating once you've taken it out. Reverse the procedure to reinstall the pump. I'm a washing machine tech in Australia and do this job on a daily basis, takes me 5 minutes.
Couldn't be happier with this machine. We traded the abysmal Whirlpool Cabrio for the WA80T65FW1 and they're worlds apart. Quite, efficient and cleans superbly. Not a hint of powder or lint to be found at the end of a cycle and with the speed of the spin cycle clothes dry quickly. Yet to see if the automatic lint disposal system causes problems with blocked drains in the future but fingers crossed :)
Multitude of washing options, start time delays, super easy electronic controls, eco wash options, everything!
Auto lint disposal may cause headaches for sewerages suseptable to blockages
Absolute rubbish. Will never buy a Fisher & Paykel product again.
Two years after buying this washing machine it would not fill properly so a service call was put in. Fisher & Paykel did pay for the part but I had to pay for the service call which was $80. Three years later it would not start at all and the entire motor control had to be replaced costing $480. Six months on and it is showing signs of trouble again with a constant "power cut" display on it. I have also had the constant problem of brown muck on clothes. We don't use a fabric softener, we clean out the bowl but nothing helps. I have had to re...wash that many clothes. I had a Simpson for about 15 years and never had any trouble with it and only replaced it because I wanted a bigger machine. Choice magazine recommended this IW812 and I have been bitterly disappointed with it. Wish I got rid of it years ago and saved the stress. Im going to buy a Miele next. Unreliable, leaves muck on clothes, has cost me too much already
BEST MACHINE EVER
I had a Hoover top loader for over 20 years. I did not want to change but it had certainly had its day. i took forever to decide what to buy. My washing repair man put me on to this machine and I must say i have never looked back. It is so easy to use and after reading all the bad reviews i was a bit cautious.
i have had no problems with it, would recommend it to anyone, in fact i am in the process of buying one for my son who has just moved out of home, FINALLY. The problems people have talked about with the lint etc sticking to black clo...
I have the IW812 and have had no problems with the machine. This is the third F&P washing machine that we have owned over a twenty year period. First one was destoryed by removalists in a truck accident and the second lasted for years without any problems. I have owned the IW812 for three weeks so far and have absolutely no problems with the machine. The trick is to read the instruction manual as it is computerised and as such sometimes not user friendly unless you have read the book. It is an 8 Kg washer with many features from normal washing ...to water saving front loader type washing to name only two. Everything, it is feature packed all with so many variants that you can program. If like most people you use the machine before reading the manual, it can be difficult to understand the features. Read the manual and the machine comes alive with features.
