Washed well and quietly, until the bearings disintegrated
Bought it as it was one of very few washing machines that could handle low water pressures, and has hot and cold water feed. It also has handy features such as delayed start, wool wash, add a garment and received positive feedback from the store. It washed very well, very quiet. Had to reduce the spin cycles to 800rpm as higher speeds require a solid floor to stop it going walkabouts. After 2 years the washing machine started to make a squeaky sound which became increasingly louder when the drum rotates this led to eventually calling a technici...Read more
an. The washing machine was written off as the costs of repair were in excess of NZ$1100. It has done less then 100 washes in the 2y3m I had it. Thankfully I had been persuaded to take out an extended warranty.Similar opinion? Write a review on ProductReview.com.au!

I use cold water settings only and normally clothes are clean, however being a front loader I have found water traps inside the rubber seal ring and is subject to moldy smell. It appears to not wear out clothes but never consistantly satisfied with results of towels. Seems the rinse cycles aren't always good on towels. Within the first month of use, at the beginning of any cycle, it was quiet but later started making a load buzzing vibration consistently for about a minute before it eases in to the wash cycle. It seems to cycle through OK if ...Read more
you don't think it's damaged and don't mind the noise. I have not used all cycles to effectively analyse if they work better. It spins at a very fast rpm for regular last spin cycle thus sounding like an over powered spin. Other spin cycles come out quite wet still, but that might be due to being more delicate on light fabrics but I suspect that should not be dripping wet. I do like the stop and add a garment and have used it a few times. The contact points for 'instructing the machine what to do' are very sensitive and a light brush past the them have triggered them to react and turn off the machine or it just triggers OFF on the movement making you think something has brushed against the pause button. So I just hit start again and it carries on. I haven't brought in a technician yet. However we Did purchase extended warranty. Its understandable that this model appears now as discontinued, too bad we weren't told that in January of 2015 when Harvey Norman sold it to us, but they likely didn't get the negative feedback anyway. In our case we are fortunate we DID buy the extended warranty. We hope they restore it to optimal function, if they can't due to poor design and digital features and internal programming, I hope they honor the warranty and stand good to the positive reputation Fisher & Paykel wish to represent. I'm sure if you are honest with the people you work with, they will honor warranties and do their best to resolve the problem. Semi Happy Customer. Willing to endure, and hopeful of a positive outcome. Still liking having a nice new washer, hopeful for a longterm relationship with it's function. :)Similar opinion? Timer is not reliable
I’ve had this machine for about 2 years and always had problems with the timer it is out, I have had a serviceman out a few times to rectify the problem but to no avail. Fisher and Paykel where no help at all and we have paid a bit of money to try to fix this problem and this is the one of the main reasons I bought this machine. All other aspect of the machine are okay. I will definitely will not buy this brand again.

Poor quality plastics - don't bump the selector knob!
I have had this machine for a couple of years and it works well enough but I seem to be getting holes in my Tees (???). HOWEVER, the selector knob decided to stop woking the other day, so I pulled it apart to inspect what the problem was. It would appear the knob has been bumped at some stage and the internal plastic bits have disintergrated. The quality and robustness of the plastic behind the panel is (in a word) crap, and in a few more words, cheap Chinesee crap designed to break if you fart to loudly near it! The (very thin) plastic on the ...Read more
knob had split causing it to spin uselessly, and the LED shroud around the dial was damaged also. Inspection showed the plastic here to also to be a crumbly, split unsalvageable mess. I glued the knob back together and also glued a metal sheath from a dynabolt around it. I then drilled the LED shroud to the repaired knobs new larger, stronger spindle size. I replaced the damaged LED shroud mount and circuit board locating pin with a large wall plug to act as the spacer, a washer and a longer screw to hold it all in place and the circuit board down. It all now works OK again, but a hot tip is DON't BUMP THE very exposed, unprotected, designed to fail KNOB that cannot be easily replaced without dismanling half the machine, buying a new panel, or throwing the machine out.Similar opinion? Quite and water efficient but not for towels
This machine is very quite and uses hardly any water but, my towels are totally destroyed. I have tried using less detergent. I have tried a different spin. I have tried putting less in the wash. Nothing changes, my new towels are wrecked. Very disappointing as otherwise a good machine.

Perfect wash but broke after 3 months with long customer service
This machine cleans very well and removes pretty much all smells. It has been a dream machine for the 3 short months we have had it. Quiet and great spin dry.
The "time left" indicator is inaccurate to the point that it is worthless. It will show 9 minutes left, and you can come back every 9 minutes for 40 minutes and it still shows 9 minutes.
The machine door lock broke after 3 months not allowing us to shut the door.
We have been told we need to wait 8 days before a technician comes out. A couple of days if ok, but 8 days is painful...Read more
as we work long hours and when we get home, driving and waiting for hours at a local washing pallor is impossible. Interestingly, the cheapest Simpson machine we bought 4 years ago (which we replaced) never skipped a beat and even though its clean was 1/5, it worked. This machine works well 5/5, but its early failure and slow technical evaluation is not expected when it is under 2 years warranty. Hopefully its a lemon and we get it replaced.2 comments

th the buy in my opinion but be weary of PCB issues which I would recommend if you haves issues with your machine, to ring F and P, suggest a PCB problem and have it fixed.Similar opinion? Write a review on ProductReview.com.au!
incorrect information
The only thing that i am disappointed in, is that the time they give per cycle is incorrect.
It actually takes longer than the time given per cycle, eg when I use the 59min cycle and when i
use my other washing machine at the same time which is over an hour, it
finishes before the 59min cycle. How do you explain that?

Wrecked my soft towels.
The Front loader washes very clean, BUT it has wrecked my soft, plush Sheridan Towels. The Towels immediately changed into tiny separated rows of stiff pile that has not responded to any effort to restore them to their previous plush pile as they were when washed in our top loader. I do not have a clothes dryer, and don't use Softener. I sought advice from both Sheridan and Harvey Norman without success.

Not as quiet as I would like
When I was researching front loaders to buy my number one requirement was that it is quiet because it will be located in an open plan kitchen. This dishwasher is quiet during the wash cycle but is very noisy during the max 1400 spin cycle. Also I wish that it had more wash programs and that I can set my own frequent use program. I use mainly cold water to wash my clothes and wish that I didn't have to reset it to cold everytime. The default water temp is always warm. Also the clothes seem to still have a lot of water left in them even after the 1400 spin cycle. I had a Fisher and Paykel top loader previously and the clothes came out drier.

Unsure..
I noticed the 9.5 kg top loader increasingly stretched clothes and then gave up. Although I've always had a toploader I heard front loaders were much better for water consumption and gentler on clothes, after reading all the good reviews I went with the Washsmart 8.5 kg ( I thought a larger size is better for washing blankets and quilts) from Harvey Norman. I've had it for a month averaging 5/6 loads p/week. Here's what I found: Pro's - with the 4 year extended warranty I am covered for 6 years (can choose a new/different machine or get in stor...Read more
e credit if necessary). With a 5 1/2 out of 6 star water rating and 4 1/2 out of 6 star energy rating, a third of the washing powder and fabric softener I used with top loader, the running costs should be much less. With the laundry door shut you almost can't hear it's on, with the door open it's about 1/3 loud as the toploader. Cons - despite trying layering clothes loosely and washing similar clothes together, overall the clothes are heavily tangled. Despite trying different wash cycles, temp settings and spin speeds the clothes esp windcheaters are stretched, the towels are hard in comparison to toploader (reducing the amount of powder and spin speed helped somewhat as well as switching to laundry liquid for towels). Perhaps I'm struggling with this machine as I'm not used to a frontloader, if anyone has suggestions..Similar opinion? Write a review on ProductReview.com.au!

Quiet but there's a water leakage problem
I just wanted to share my early experience which's unfortunately not a good one. I bought this washing machine and the dryer yesterday from Good Guys. They came to install the machines for us today. 3 hours later we used the washing machine for the first time !!. And guess what !!..there is lots of water leaking from underneath the machine. I am very disappointed.I'll be ringing the customer service at Fisher Paykel tomorrow. Hopefully the after sales service is good. I'll give an update in a couple weeks.

we ended up using slightly less detergent than used when we had the leakage issue. And as a result, we have no more leakage issue and our washing is still well cleaned.

r washing machine stops spinning half way through the cycle. Many times it screeches and turns it myself off. We rang the manufacturer and they won't do anything over the phone but offered to come around and look at at for $60 per hours (+ additional cost for parts). My machine is under warranty but it doesn't seem to mean anything to them. My recommendation is to stay away from this machine and this brand. Bad machine and worse after sales service (even through i am under the warranty)Similar opinion? Write a review on ProductReview.com.au!

Exactly what i was looking for in a front loader - update (only lasted 4 years)
After reading many of the reviews for various front loaders on this site, i decided on this model. I previously owned a Whirlpool which lasted nearly 10 years. I have only used my new machine for a short time, but it has exceeded all expectations so far. Quiet, lots of choice in wash cycles including a 15 minute one which i have used to freshen the swimming togs. Fingers crossed i get a good few trouble free years out of it.
UPDATE- 4 yrs on. Drum bearings gone and machine is like a jet plane taking off. See comments section below for further information.
Purchased in December 2014 at Harvey Norman for A$870.00.

Questions & Answers
Kat B asked
Our machine has always stopped with 4 mins to go, and says NO TAP. We usually just hit the start button and it continues on. However today we can’t hear any water coming in, and the machine stays on 59 mins, and every 10 minutes will beep with the NO TAP warning. Taps are connected? Does it make a difference that our machine is connected to our water tank (which has plenty of water?)

Very frustrating and annoying! I hv a family of 6 and this is annoying me to no end ! Happening towards end of cycle
Hv followed booklet numerous times emptying out and making sure it’s clear ??
We are baffled
Can anyone give any suggestions on what we could try to rectify the problem? Before calling someone out
The machine isn’t very old at all , about 18months old
Please help

Am experiencing same problem, except there is only 1 person living in my place. I checked - as per the F&P youtube video - there was absolutely nothing in the filter. It seems like F&P products are designed to just be faulty so you pay fees for them to visit or contact them.

tant button (the start button) does not work. Last time the door lock was not broken, it was in fact something inside behind the machine display. I suspect it's the same problem. We obviously have a lemon. When it works, it otherwise washes wonderfully. I hope Fisher and Paykal can simply replace this machine. It is faulty.
