Ford Mondeo Station Wagon Feedback
My car is economical to run, and runs well, particularly well on the open road and long distances. However, it has now come up with a problem. When I drive over 80km, a message comes up on the dashboard." Transmission Auto Limited"
I have had it serviced every 10,000 kms and an auto transmission service at 50,000 kms. Codes have been hard to find and Ford had to drive it 60kms and over 80kms to find them. They corrected the codes and replaced the module under the gear stick and then it seemed it should be OK but the message came up on the ...
Beware of the DSG
Well built car, ecoboost paired with power shift DSG was quick, smooth and responsive although slow to respond when pulling away from stopped. Equipment is a little dated now no screen for radio but it sounds great. I owned the Zetec and the seats were plain. Handling was good on fast sweeping bends but suspension was a little too soft for my liking. My owner experience didn't end well however as my service center didn't change the oil and filter in the DSG gearbox at 60000 kms resulting in the gearbox destroying itself at 90000 Kms. It is an $11000 fix! I traded it as it was and got less than $3000 for it.
Great car but some quality issues
My September delivered 2016 Mondeo MD Ambiente Wagon. Love the diesel very quite and fuel efficient. Sync 3 has had some issues the volume sometimes goes up and down on its own and you have to turn the car off to reset. The A/C when stopped in traffic( with auto stop disabled) starts to blow warm air. The steering wheel started to peel a couple of days ago after it bubbled in the recent Sydney heat wave. The car is 4 months old with 10k on it. Hopefully ford Australia come to the party for the steering wheel. Never mind the 7 months wait for i...t! I have done 55,000kms know and mechanically the car is faultless. My steering wheel was replaced but the new one has just bubbled a few weeks ago on a hot day in Sydney. The interior drivers door panel has worn away where I rest my arm while driving. My FG Falcon G6ET that has 117,000kms has no wear on either. Good car , the interior isn't the toughest and I'm not rough on cars. Truthfully I will be moving it on in 20,000kms and I will be getting a VW Passat wagon due to the issues I have found on the Mondeo.

Mecatronic unit problem
I got a mondeo titanium 2009 model had it for 5 months only had 102000klm on it.first i had to take it in because the diesel mondeo has to do burn offs mine had to be done manually to grt all the crap out then i Was driving my girls to school the car decided to throw it self into 1st doing 80klm took it to ford they had no idea what was going on then it did it again 3 weeks later. I called the car yard where i got from they didn't want to know about it. I took it back to ford they tell me i needed a new mecatronic unit put in after they had it for a week. Needless to say i lost out on thousands of dollars i loved the car interior and the look of the car is everything i wanted. Very disappointed
Annoying design faults and cost of running
My Mondeo reminds me of my 1970 V8 station wagon. Why? Because around town it uses just as much fuel and its turning circle is just as large. Lovely to drive but terrible to have to turn around in a tight space. Its roomy with loads of boot but there is a price to pay.
Also, what genius decided that it would be a good idea to mount the lower door seal on the car body instead of the door? Picture getting out with boots on or especially getting out when you are parked along side another car such that you have to squeeze out. All too often your foot clips it and rips out the seal and a few clips. Brake bulbs blow about every 3 months. Would never recommend this car.
Good Car spoilt by Clutch and Water Leak
The have a 2011 Diesel PowerShift Mondeo Wagon, has travelled 100,000km. The car is very comfortable and fuel efficient. Has great towing power. Unfortunately mine has had its clutches replaced twice, once at 60000KM and then again at 80,000. Still shudders in reverse gear.
The water leak - the car has leaked from new, has been back 4 times for different fixes. In every instance the leaks remain. The car leaks water from the drivers side vanety light and down the passenger side C pillar. Previous the Air Conditioning drain hose was dislodge...d and also not correctly tightened. They cleaned out the sun roof drain holes (wanted to charge me $600 for that, how I am supposed to clear then is beyond me) the last time. I have just removed part of the roof lining to get at the roof rack rails - I lifted them and placed Sika Flex around the 3 holes in the roof. I contacted the service centre by email requesting a meeting with Ford representative - still waiting for a reply. Also the dealer fitted tow bar nearly feel off as the right hand side retaining bolts where not tightened correctly. I was just north of Gladstone QLD towing a very expensive trailer and two $30,000 boats. Very disappointing as it is such a nice car.
Every gadget you would ever want in a road car
The cooling is not good enough for the size of the engine. It's a very comfortable car but not the pick up you would expect. A diesel 4x4 accelerates faster.
Ok car but trading happily now.
Loved the car to start with but felt like it dated quickly. I like Fords in fact I pick up a new Territory on Friday so I cannot knock the vehicles. My Mondeo has served me well. Great on fuel. Will never buy a car without leather again though. Water leaks in through the hatch in heavy rain and I have had a knocking in the exhaust that I have not been able to get sorted in 6 services.
Other than that great car with excellent styling, good performance and a benchmark in its class without doubt. Fords I find get better as you go up the range and I will always go top of range now.
Cheap motoring, lovely styling.
Rattles in chassis never solved.
