I have given Franks a run for my money, when I make a query or complain they have always been professional & responsive, and attended to my claims quickly, also my I had a issue with my LTH Cover, I found where the error was it was from previous fund and Frank refunded my monies straight away. thank you
Affordable and decent coverage
I am the person who always shops around for a good deal. And Frank is one of the most affordable, with a respectable coverage. Frank is also part of GMHBA, which is not-for-profit company. I have been with Frank for years, and every year I will try to find a better deal elsewhere, but nothing beats Frank.
This is the year I finally have to leave Frank for another provider.
I have Hospital and Extras cover, but I have never made a Hospital claim until now. Frank does not participate in the Access Gap Cover scheme. I found out about this schem...e which means that specialist and private hospitals who participates in this scheme will have a fixed/known gap which is usually capped at $500 per specialist. Their parent GMHBA participates in this scheme, but Frank doesn't. Most of my claims are for Extras and benefits can be accessed via HICAPS on the spot when I receive treatment. If I forget my card, I can quickly lodge a claim on their website - it's also quick to approve and pays you the benefit fast too! The Extras allowance for Frank is very generous compared to many health funds for the services that I use. So I recommend comparing it with the services you’re using as it may defer from mine. As a member, you need to comfortable interacting with them via the computer - they are quick to respond to your queries. If you need to see someone in a retail space, this is not for you. But if you're tech-savvy enough, you save heaps! They have an internal mail system through the web portal or Live Chat, which are always helpful. If you prefer to speak to someone over the phone, they’re also available.
Good Coverage, Easy to deal with
Good value for the hospital & essential extras bundle. Have been with them for a few years, and even got money back. No issues with hospital day surgery claims. I would like to see a choice for the excess instead of the $750 only being offered and 50% for Day Surgery.
Frank are neat
Extras are great value. 50/80% pay-back at the counter makes appointments with allied health providers so affordable! Haven't had to use hospital so can't comment about that. Online systems are a little buggy/confusing (and if you ever have to call be prepared for a long wait), but the team are pleasant and helpful.

Decent offering - screwed up billing causing headaches
I have basic + simple extras on no tier (that is I make too much to receive a government rebate).
First thing that is annoying is that basic doesn't come with ambulance insurance and there isn't a simple separate ambulance cover, otherwise I would've chosen that over simple extras. I spoke to a customer support agent on the phone and they tried to seriously claim that I would be covered for ambulance in NSW/ACT for those specific states - which is completely false after calling each respective government agency (but admittedly unclear from the...respective websites). Anyway, simple covers is alright, I was able to use dental without waiting period and got an alright benefit (dental code 011 - calculus removal [i.e. hygienic clean], cost $175, benefit from frank $60.20). What annoyed me is that I changed payment details to a new credit card I received through the website, payments didn't go through for 2 weeks, and finally they sent an email saying I had to _call_ to fix a billing issue. I checked the website first and all payment details disappeared. So I called and the voice recording said I had to wait 5 minutes, but didn't speak to an operator until the 9-10 min mark. This is another annoying point of Frank - getting ahold of customer support is painful. It's not important that I speak with someone urgently but they should offer a callback service via (1) their website using the member services, this way they have the details upfront and call and (2) their on-hold music should allow you to preempt with a callback service.
More about extras
I thought the policy was good value when i changed to it 2 years ago from another similar cover. And compared to a lot of others it is better value.
I am happy with the higher 60 % rebate. Never a problem to claim. But I don't like the fact that for eg. naturopathic & homeopathic is no longer inc. in any health insurance. + the other dozen or more modalities wiped from health insurance.
I like the fact that I can suspend my insurance if i'm out of the country for longer than a month.

Higher Premiums & Reduced Services.
We have just received our new yearly premium starting 1st April 2019. The yearly cost has increased by $184.00 and our excess has been increased from $500 to $750 by Frank. To make matters even worse Frank have also decided to remove the following procedures (See List Below) from our current policy as of 1st April 2019. We have had Best Hospital Cover with Frank for numerous years and are extremely disappointed with this continual removal of benefits paid. Please check your upcoming premium & goodbye Frank.
