ALDI Petrol Chainsaw
Gardenline 50cc Chainsaw (Aug 2011-2015), Gardenline / Ferrex 45cc Chainsaw (Apr 2016, Oct 2016, Aug 2017, Sep 2018, Oct 2019), Ferrex / Gardenline 53cc Chainsaw (Mar 2018, Mar 2019, Mar 2020), etc...Not bad
Works very well but struggled with larger wood diameters. Got quite warm /hot after about 30 mins use. Would recommend for home use. For the price it was a decent buy. ALDI return policy is very good however so not too big a risk if you do decide to return.

Chain will not tighten
Started my chainsaw up on Saturday no problem, eventually chain loosened, read the instructions how to tighten, unlocked it but the dial won't turn to tighten or to loosen, cane home very disappointed. Anyone any ideas ??? Struggled for ages trying to tighten it. Will have to buy firewood now. Wife not impress.

Aldi Gardenline chain saw. 16" bar
Purchased at 8.00 am 8/4/2017, all available went straight out the door. 54 CC engine, Oregon bar and chain. Had 4 medium sized gum trees to cut down after storm. Started easily, great power and cutting ability, out performed my Echo 16" bar. Used 3 times over 6 days from new. Runs well for about 30 mins, let it cool down for 30 minutes and used again the best operating procedure. On the 6th day went to re start, the recoil started broke and the cord jammed out. A great saw to use, I have lived on acreage for 36 years and had 4 chainsaws. This ...
Read moreis easily the best performed, with a 54cc engine and comfortable to use, maybe I was unlucky. Returned to Aldi on 17/4/2017 a week later, received a refund. Will risk buying another one when available.Find out how ALDI Petrol Chainsaw compares to other Petrol Chainsaws

Could not start the chainsaw. After changing the china made spark plug with a Champion RCJ7Y spark plug. It started after 2 pulls, all good.
Do yourself a favour and a lot of arm strength, just bay the new PLUG. It does the job for the handyman around the home.

Not bad but no Stihl or Husqvana
This saw didn't start out of the box.
After finding it had no spark but with a secondary coil voltage (digital multimeter set at 20ohms between the boot and ground), I replaced the crappy plug with a champion and it fired first pull.
The carb settings were not helping either. Screw the High & low jets all the way in and then back out 2 turns for high and 1.5 low. After powering up to full throttle, lean off (screw in) the high until the engine is developing its full RPM possible then out .25 so as to not run too lean. Next? play with low to get a stable idle.
It's actually not a bad junk saw (the one you'd lend out to friends or leave in the rain when camping) for the price.

Gardenline 50cc chainsaw fine when fixed
If you can be bothered doing a few repairs this is a good saw. 1. A gasket needs to be fashioned behind the the plate behind the chain bar, I used 1mm double sided tape from bigW, Do Not replace the retaining screw. 2. O rings need to be fitted to air filter, 31mm under filter a 5 mm on top. 3. Starting is not explained correctly in the instructions. While holding throttle in the full throttle position, pull out choke fully, let go of throttle then the choke, pull cord 2 to 3 times, push in choke, should then start easily.
Light and powerful
Not finished properly from the factory

Still leaking oil, The gasket I installed behind the chain-bar didn't fix the oil leak. The problem is the oil pump situated under the clutch assembly, there is a flimsy felt plug that doesn't work. Y...
Read moreou need to remove the clutch assembly and plastic cover and place an O-ring over the felt plug, there are tips on how to remove the clutch assembly on youtube by stuffing nylon rope into the spark-plug hole to prevent the crankshaft turning. (there is a good one on a still saw) If you want to go through the hassle it does fix the oil leak and do throw away that Chinese spark-plug and replace it with an NGK plug, you will then have great little machine.Questions & Answers

Excellent review and advice!!! In regards to No.1 ....which plate are you referring to? The metal chain guide plate or the plastic plate under the clutch? If it's the one under the clutch, how do you ...
Read moreget that off? You'd need to take the clutch out and I'm not sure how to do that. If it's the one under the chain guide then I can't see why you would need a gasket there. Your help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks for your input.
