GE calls are not recorded
GE Money are scum bags. Spoke with a consultant over the phone. Took out a $5000.00 loan and was advised it was a 2 year loan & the Interest was a lump sum amount that would be added to the repayments. I signed the relevant paperwork and money transferred. Merited I didn't read all the documents thoroughly as I thought what was discussed was in writing & didn't think anything of it so skimmed over it. Get a Loan Statement in the mail after almost a year. Noticed I was been charged a monthly interest rate. Called GE & found out I was in a 5 year...contract! Made a complaint with the 'resolutions' team & was told the calls with the branch consultants over the phone are NOT recorded so basically they can tell you anything to get you to sign up. So it pays to read T&C's people. So because I thought what was discussed over the phone was what was in writing & has been signed I cant dispute the contract. There is no call to go back on so its basically their word against mine. Unsure yet if I go to ACCC or ombudsman... Yes I signed something without properly double checking but you don't expect a company as big as GE to do such a dodgy & backing you into a corner. Do Not Deal with GE Take this as a Warning
The customer service is terrible.people who works in the call center are [censored word removed].they should
no what the job there doing.poor training dont know how to speak to customers.i don t

useless institution that wasting peoples time
My husband passed away two and a half years ago. he had an 8 k loan with GE.
Wepaid extra every chance we had. unyet with intrest the loan went up to 27000.
the day before he passed i paid 9000. the week after i paid the balance.
to find out my husband had been paying insurance.
long story short they refused to pay back the money.
my question why bother paying insurance if they wont pay it out.
they prey on people in desperate situations. I hate them with a passion.
please please dont go through these people.
Dont waste your time
I spent almost 2 hours in total on the application, between online and on the phone. Provided a lot of personal information for a low limit card including a financial statement as requested. I was asked for more. Another half hour on the phone only to be told they needed some information from my accountant. I pointed out that his fee would be more than the limit I requested. I said ok, I'll stick with a card I have for travel. 'No, wait I'll speak to my supervisor'. Another 15 minutes later and the same reply. I said that's fine and again I was asked to go through this nonsense again but this time I said someone else can have the business. Don't bother. They must only want people who are desperate.
Terrible service for new customers
I was interested in signing up for a 28 degrees master card, and had a few questions that weren't covered on the website. I tried phoning about 5 times, but the phone number provided caters to existing customers and I had no luck getting through to a customer service rep. I kept getting asked to enter my card number, so I gave up and didn't get the card.
The 28 degrees card sounded like a good product
I was unable to speak to anyone to find out more about the card!
I avoid all phone calls to GE Money because of the above experience. I dont mind the interest free period plan because thats what we can afford at the moment, and if you budget and pay it off during the free period, its worth it. Its always better to read the fine print and make sure you know what you are getting into.
I had to use GE money for finance when I bought a car some years ago and have used them when I have bought furniture at certain shops, the finance has been thru GE Money. I think the interest-free period offer is good IF you are ...
Will stop at nothing, not even the law.
We had a partially secured loan with GE for a few years before I became ill and had to quit my full time job. We did originally have insurance but after I changed jobs I re-read the contract and found out that I wasn't covered and that my pre-existing condition was not covered either so we dropped the insurance. I tried for 3 months to get a job with shorter hours but to no avail so we decided to declare Bankruptcy. We had tried to claim hardship with GE but they wouldn't listen. As an ex law clerk I dealt with the paperwork myself as I was fam...iliar with our rights and obligations. Once declared Bankrupt we contacted GE straight away about the surrendering our cars. The rego was almost due on one and the other would be in a few months. They told us they would charge us to repossess the cars if we did not deliver them to an undisclosed location. We said we wanted transfer forms to sign and they said they wanted to fax them, we said post them as we do not have a private fax. They had an issue with this but agreed in the end. Despite requesting them again we did not receive them or even a location of a place to go to deliver the cars. One car is now out of registration and the other only has 1 month left. They are pressuring us to make repayments and even tried taking money out of our account (which I know is illegal and not the first time they have tried to take extra!) Now we either have to illegally drive an unregistered car to a location (if they give it to us), renew the rego for a car that isn't ours, or pay to have it towed. The customer 'service' we have got every time has been down right disgusting and they are very nasty about the repossession whenever we ask them what is going on, like it is our fault that it hasn't been completed yet. Am currently getting legal advice as to what to do. They might be happy with breaking the law, but I am not! None, except the fact that they are still sending us loan offers despite being bankrupt, gives us a laugh at least! Bad service, underhanded in pressuring people for money they are not allowed to ask for and they don't send statements and if you ask for one they will only fax it.
Be very very careful i have heard so many stories from friends and others who have had bad experiences. We have only ever used GE money once for a lounge we put on 55 months interest free. We paid a 2.95 account keeping fee a month. We had this lounge paid off completely with the 12 money so we didnt have any problems. Fine print says the interest rate if you go over is about 36% CRAZY. Definately use this company as a last last last resort.
If interest free product is paid off quickly then its ok.
Had to get this account closed and a letter stating it was closed as my bank needed this for a loan i was obtaining, it was a nightmare getting this one letter!
Please do not sign up for anything with GE Money, they will stuff you around, you will spend time and money trying to fix their mistakes and in the end you may end up with bad credit history. Many people I know have gotten way over their heads using this type of finance. Also they will continually try to offer you more money to get you more in debt. Stay away from them. I will never go near them again.
It's like instant cash. I think they will give anyone credit which is very scary.
Where do I start? We signed up for an interest free offer wh...
AVOID GE MONEY LIKE THE PLAGUE! Liars, rude to customers, quick to take your money and their deals don't match other banks online calculators. Will NEVER seek a loan from them again. EVER.
Easy to get money from, in that they opened a retail branch on a Saturday just for me to do the paperwork, but read about the cons in the next section.
They are liars! I wanted to borrow $15,000 to consolidate two other loans, and they quickly agreed and booked a time for me to sign the contract. As mentioned above, this was a Saturday when they're usually cl...
If i could give these guys a zero star rating i would! Thier "interest free" promotions you need to watch as they still try to sting you interest from the get go. Trying to change your address with them is like pulling teeth. I moved house and sent them a letter AND called them to advise them of my address change... a month later... no statement! Ring them and they hadnt changed the address. Next month same thing, so i figured if they cant sent me a statement, then they cant expect to get paid! It took them 4 months to finally get it right! and...in that time had put a black mark on my credit rating and even when they got all my contacts correct, they never informed me of this and i only found out when i applied for a home loan! NOT HAPPY! DONT DO IT PEOPLE!! Easy Money Customer Service is disgusting. Interest rate is way to high. Not helpful at all!
We have had to deal with these people twice. First time we were desperate and got a car loan, high high interest rate, high exit fees, only good thing was that we were able to pay the loan out super fast due to a redundancy payout. Now we are buying a house, turns out the vendor has their finance through GE. They won't come to the settlement!!!!!!! We are desperatly trying to settle on this house, everything is booked and paid for for the moving, everyone is ready, but GE are extending the settlement, goodness knows why???? Don't do IT!!!
When i was 21 i got a car loan for $3000. After 10 years of payments i thought this is odd. Real finance wizard i am, duh. 36% interest, i had been making minimum payments because the repayments went up without me knowing. I paid nothing off except that huge interest. They have made a 200% profit and are still chasing me. They wont get another [censored word removed] cent off me. Bastards. I hope there is a hell for these [censored word removed].
These [censored word removed] are the scum of the earth and you people who've dealt with them know what i mean.
I wouldn't go with them again. It's a rip-off. Too many hidden fees and huge exit fee if you repay the loan earlier or want to re-finance.
I don't know where the call centre was located but I couldn't understand a word of what there where saying and viceversa. Bad attidute. High interest rates.
