Excellent compact machine
I recently purchased this washing machine as I do not have any connections for an automatic machine. For it's size, it does an amazing job at getting clothes clean. It is suitable for one large outfit or two smaller outfits at a time. I have found it best to spin dry large items one at a time. It is important to note this model does not include a drain pump, so you must have the washer higher than the hose. I drain it in the bathtub or shower. This machine is best suited to doing laundry regularly, it's quite a chore to catch up on a large amount due to the manual filling and transferring clothes.
Purchased in May 2019.
I live in a self contained unit with a communal laundry my clothes came out dirtier than I put them in than I bought this machine AWSOME for what I need it for its quiet cleans the clothes well and the spin dry is wicked. I'm very impressed with this machine. Yes there is abit of manual operation between wash and rinse than to spin but no big drama it's easy to use and well worth the money
Great little machine - definitely better than communal laundries
After travelling for a while, one of my biggest gripes was using communal laundries in caravan parks or laundromats and my clothes coming out dirtier than they went in. I figured for around $150, I'd give this portable washing machine a go. BEST IDEA EVER.
I've now used my Gecko around a dozen times. I love it. In fact, I wouldn't be without it. So why not 5 stars? I don't think it takes the full 5kg as specified and gives you a good wash. For best results, we keep our loads to around 4kg. We've also found that we prefer to put the w...ashing through the 15 minute cycle twice, not once, for a decent clean. I don't change the water, just reset the timer and away it goes again. So it doesn't perform exactly as described, but none of these things are deal breakers for me. It certainly does the job I bought it for. With those things in mind, what I do love about it is the spin setting. Our clothes come out nearly dry. Fan-bloody-tastic! I no longer have to spend hours hanging around a laundry - tick!! I wash my clothes and they come out CLEAN - SUPER TICK! When actually travelling, we store the Gecko in the van and use it as a dirty washing basket and store our pegs, washing liquid, etc in the spin tub. It's super light - one person can move it. If water is at a premium, we have used the same water for multiple loads (buy wool wash - no rinse required). Tick, tick, tick! Yep, I think this might just be the best $150 I've spent in a while. Personally, I doubt that I'll change machines if/when we eventually stop travelling. Why pay $800 when this does a fine job? Yeah, there's a bit of manually handling between wash & spin, but not enough to justify a $600 price difference for me.
Questions & Answers
Just unpacked my new machine and used it for first today and spin dry doesn't work .Whats the problem are these machines faulty?
New machine. Done a few loads now spinner has stopped. Anyone had similar issues?
Make sure the lid of the spinner is properly down. My machine fell over during transit and something broke in the spin lid. Now I have to put something heavy on top of the spin lid or press down on it to keep it closed or the spin cycle automatically switches off. If that doesn't work, I'd be asking the manufacturer. It may be a warranty claim.
