My curler broke into two parts， customer service is disappointing
I liked my curler, it's such a shame to go through this terrible experience with this brand. I only used this curler for 3 times, which I purchased in Feb 2020. I kept it in my drawer with my straightener and hairdryer. Last week, just before the second lockdown hit Melbourne, I wanted to use this curler so I could have a different style to go out with. That was when I discovered the thing that happened in the picture. For me, there are two possible reasons: I couldn't understand how this happened, maybe I was too rough with my hairdryer and it...hit my curler when I put it back. I reached out to the customer service, they said this is not covered by warranty and said I broke it. One girl on the phone also said she will let her supervisor call me back. First if you won't do it, don't promise it, this SUPERVISOR NEVER CALLED MY BACK. If you look at the picture, you'll realize how terrible your quality is! How could I ever break a curler? This never happened in my whole life. And what more disgusting is whatever you tell them, they have this bias on you: customers break things, and they are liars and greedy.
Purchased in February 2020.
Ghd have gone downhill
I had a limited edition ghd for about 7 years and recently replaced it with a new one. I had to get it replaced under warranty because it wasn’t getting hot enough. They sent me another one, the customer service is great but this one is crap too. How can they have changed so much since my limited edition one. I wouldn’t recommend at all, you’d be better off buying a cheap Vidal sassoon one, they work about the same.
Purchased in June 2020 for $185.00.
Poor quality - Quality changed
I bought the straightener right after the manufacturers had changed. Such pool quality straightener! After the first 3 times of using it the famous 'GHD' logo had literally rubbed off! Takes a few glides to straighten hair where as my cheaper Remington one straightens in one go. I emailed GHD to question this multiple times, with no response! Definitely don't recommend if you don't want to waste your money.
My new GHD melted my hair :(
I do not recommend this product based on my recent experience. Please excuse the essay review..
My previous GHD has lasted me 8 good years with no issues (I loved it!). Recently the wires on the chord have become exposed so my partner decided to replace it for my birthday. He went to hairhouse warehouse and the staff persuaded him to purchase a Halo instead after rubbishing the GHD. I used the Halo once and whilst I quite liked it, the outer plates were too hot to touch, which makes it difficult to style my hair (I use two hands and twist ...for a wave effect). I went back to the store to change over to a GHD. The staff member warned me that the quality of GHDs is poor after changing manufacturers about 4 years ago. I wasn't worried though as I thought she was pushing Halo for incentive reasons. I used the GHD for the second time this week and when I plugged it in it made a pop sound like the fuse had blown - it shortcut the circuit in most the house. I then plugged it into a working socket and put the tongs to my fringe - it melted/burnt my hair immediately after being on there for a split second. There is literally melted hair all over the plate tongs and I can't get rid of the smell of burnt hair. To say I'm disappointed is an understatement.
Avoid disappointment and spend your money elsewhere.
I had previously owned a GHD for 3 years, 4 years ago and it was great. It stopped working which was fine because I had had it for three years and used it often.
I bought a new one in May this year and in all honesty, my mini straightener I bought from Target (to tie me over) straightens my hair better than the GHD.
I contacted GHD and they asked me to send my product in for testing. They sent it back to me today advising there is nothing wrong with it and heats to the right temperature.
My friends have GHD's and theirs heat up more...and work so much better than mine (mine is legitimate for those wondering). As said, my $9 mini one from Target works better. Definitely do not spend your money on a GHD. I think they were good once upon a time but not anymore. Take your money elsewhere to avoid disappointment.
Not worth the money spent
This is used to be one of the most amazing products on the market but I can honestly say that it's the worst now, purchased a new one for the same price as I purchased my first one over 7 years ago and the new one qualitie is horribleit didn't even last me just over a year before it stop working obviously warranty had run out and they couldn't do anything about it so I wouldn't waste my money on this brand
Do not buy this product!!!
Very dissatisfied with this product. I have to run it over the same piece of hair 5 times to get it straight! Not worth the money! Shoddily made and false advertising!
I have just bought some new GHD's and I'm very disappointed. Not at all as good as my old 10 year old ones. Not hot enough, take far longer to do my hair and seem to turn it frizzy. I'll be selling them on and investing in some cloud9's.
I thought changing to ghd wld be salon smooth, it has been anything but! Its crappy and doesnt give a smooth look and feel to hair at all. Silly store lady suggested this model "for your hair type" and this just means not Caucasian hair thin like! Maybe if i had just selected a ghd i jad tried at a gym instead of listening to a store lady with no knowledge, I might hv been happier. Really unhappy now hv to go buy another hair iron aft wasting all that money.
Regretted buying ghd
Very disappointed with my new IV ghd hair straightener. It does not really make my hair super straight or sleek at all. Even if I use the ghd hair protectant spray, my hair is still not sleek and I have to go over my hair at least three times and it still has a frizz and looks 'dry'. I have purchased this thinking ghd will give me sleek straight hair or perfect curls. I have tried curling my hair too but the curls are gone in an hour. I have to use my Vidal Sassoon hair straightener and curling iron to achieve what I want. it is not worth the money that I paid for. The Vidal Sassoon works infinitely better than my new ghd. I have regretted purchasing ghd. So disappointed.
Awful. GHD is not what it used to be.
I've been a GHD devotee for the past 13 years. My original model from 2003-2004 was simply amazing, and one of my most prized possessions. It travelled with me everywhere and gave me 13 years of fabulous hair. During its lifetime, I recommended GHD to all my friends. When my trusted old pair finally died this year, my partner surprised me with the new GHD IV styler. Upon receiving this gift, as a GHD lover I was SO excited (if not also feeling a bit guilty, because at $190, this was a crazy splurge for him). However, after just a few weeks usin...g the IV styler, my excitement has turned into complete disappointment. The quality of the new styler is nowhere close to the old models. I've not had one single good hair day since I started using it in June 2017. Instead of sleek hair that still looks amazing 3 days later, I'm left with wavy frizz (at best). Unlike the old models, the new model's ceramic plates do not actually meet, except for the very tip. This gap between the plates means the styler does not grip the hair properly and the heat is not evenly distributed. You either have to squeeze the plates together so tightly that your hands cramp, or you need to go over the same piece of hair twice as many times to achieve a somewhat acceptable result. I'm having to do heavy touch-ups each morning, as the styling doesn't hold for more than a few hours before looking frizzy and static. To put that in perspective, my old model would let me get away with straightening my hair every 5 days, no in-between touch-ups required. What used to take me 10 minutes, now takes me 30 minutes. Due to all this extra styling I'm having to do, I have already noticed considerable damage to my hair in the few weeks I've been using the new IV styler. I will not be using this straightener AT ALL anymore, because A) I'm sick of having consistently bad hair with it, and B) my hair will end up so damaged, I'll have to cut it all off. My partner is deeply hurt and embarrassed that his gift, which should have been so perfectly thoughtful, is a total flop. And I feel terrible about wasting my partner's money by discarding a near-new, barely used $190 gift. Ladies, if your beloved old model GHD finally dies, please consider a different brand. Don't make the mistake I did by trusting GHD to still be the best in the biz - they're far from it :(
GHD? more like Bad HD
Overhyped rubbish! The worst styler I've ever owned!
My hubby bought me this as a surprise gift and I was super excited to finally have a GHD...too bad it was a very short love affair with this straightener.
Lasted nearly 5 years but caused the worst damage to my hair, completely over dried and fried it (even with heat protectants).
Damage to my hair happened relatively early on in use so I only used it occasionally if that. Was mostly used by friends instead until it died a scary death by electric sounding crackling and smoke coming out of...
Horrible product. Horrible Company
My wife's old set of GHD straighteners died so we purchased another. The quality of the new ones are not that of the old. They did not straighten, The plates had uneven heat distribution. We had bought 2 pairs one large and one slim. After being disappointed with the thick ones we decided to sell the unused thin ones on Ebay and were contacted by the horrible company GHD.
What a waste of time
GHD website says that the process of returns is simple and easy and smooth. Oh what a joke. Painful customer service, painful policies and absolutely not worth the trouble. Limited edition purple GHD stops working 3 weeks out of warranty and "there is nothing we can do" about it. Absolutely disgusted.
Red Flashing Light Within a Fortnight
I purchased the IV Styler in late April. Less than two weeks later the red light started flashing and it stopped working properly. I'd used it less than half and dozen times. I'm so disappointed, I'd heard good things about GHD but now I'm wishing I'd purchased something else.
Questions & Answers
When I turn my GHD original on it beeps and the led flashes. The straightener heats up. It only beeps once. The led continues flashing. Is this normal? No issues with the straightener just not sure if the led should continue flashing
My ghd IV styler all of a sudden wont turn on. Any ideas?
