Cheap AGM Batteries - Buyer beware Information review
I've purchased 4 of these batteries from Aussie batteries as they are cheap, but there use and life span is limited. They do work, and the some data is available on the Aussie Battery website.
- The life span of up to 12 years is a theoretical chemical life span figure under ideal conditions which never exist in real life in hot as hell Australia. Just about any batteries life is dramatically reduced when temperatures rise to the mid to high 30s, also AGM batteries will not last when discharged more than 50%.
- When used in hot conditions and d...

They Cannot Recover After Deep Discharge!
Since 2015, I have used 3 batches of 3 Giant AGM batteries, 9 in total, all 120 amp hour, for continual daily cycling. At temperatures up to 45 degrees (rated max is 40 degrees). They power a 250 litre fridge, in my off grid solar powered home, in south Qld.
One batch failed in summer of 2019 -20, after only 9 months service, when resting volts fell to 11.8 V. They are now useless in cloudy weather.
I bought another batch of Giant in April 2020 because they were 30 % discounted price, only $ 280 each! And I was in a hurry to get th...
Read moree fridge going again. I made no warranty claim : I was too late. When this batch was new, the resting voltage always remained above 12.5 volts from April to December 2020. Then 10 days of very cloudy weather in Dec dropped the resting voltage to 11.8 volts. The resting voltage rose back far too quickly to 12.4 volts when sunshine returned. This indicates major loss of storage capacity. Resting voltage is measured at night to one hundredth of a volt accuracy, after at least one hour of no current in nor out. The inverter is in my bedroom, and I always turn it off when I sleep at night because of EMF radiation. I have measured resting voltage nearly every night for 2 years. When I get up in depth of night for a pee. Batteries are expensive!! I believe Giant AGM batteries cannot recover properly after deep discharge below 12.0 volts. Aussie Batteries say far more than other online suppliers about how great their batteries are, and give NO tech specs on the life span in cycles for different Depth Of Discharge. I cannot believe their 5 year replacement warranty is true. NO more Giant for me!The maximum operating temperature for Staunchcell gel batteries is 60 degrees C. Their life is rated at 1600 cycles at 50% discharge, ie the battery always remains at least 50 % full. Sold by Solaronline.

Battery works just...
I brought the 140ah battery a few months ago, I have excellent dual Battery system setup that runs other batteries well. This battery with 140ha will get fully charged and will last about 6 hours absolutely max with just a 20lt fridge. I now use a 100ah that will last 3 days easily with a fridge freezer, many lights and phones/speakers charging. Wouldn't recommend

Batteries good, company sales back up is non existent
I bought 4 x 190AH batteries from a reseller. I emailed twice for specs from Giant Power so I had all the right voltages etc. No response back at all.
Find out how Giant Power compares to other Solar Retailers
Know better, choose better.
No customer service, bought $40 000 off the grid system, in one year, faults with inverter, no replies from support.
I thought I was going with a solid company, after spending $40G and installing 3 inverters / battery bank, etc; No customer service, I'm having ongoing weekly faults with on of the slave inverters, no replies from support. Reputation is everything! It's been over 2 months I've been waiting for a reply from their customer service.

After having a brand new camper built to our specifications in November 2015, we thought we would had made a sound investment. Our camper was fitted with a Giant Power IPS800 power unit, which on a recent trip started producing an error code when plugged into 240 supply. After many phone calls to Giant and leaving messages with the promise of a return call that never eventuates , I was told by the receptionist that as the unit was not purchased directly from them they cannot help me and cannot supply me with a copy of the manual. Seriously you are the manufacturer and you don’t support your own product? Will be removing this unit and replacing with a Redarc unit.
