I used to own a GIC over three years ago
I used to own a GIC over three years ago. Thankfully I managed to get rid of it without losing too much money. GIC were great to deal with up until when I went to pick up the trailer. It wasn't ready and I had to wait over an hour for it to be finished, no one willing to run through how to setup the camper. Got it home, opened it up with mould inside the canvas and corrosion on the poles. Warranty and after sales service was zero out of ten. The tent used lo let in water when it rained and dust on dirt roads.
Poor workmanship. Electric...
No warranty, liars and bullies after sale service
First time our 18ft camper was set up for camping, beaching mid north coast... Wind ripped our tent and bent awning poles. Gic asked us to send email with story and pics to which they replied by email to ring them as they had been trying to phone us. We missed one call (all phones have callerID) and email sent secs later, we were told to ask for one person in particular who we now call 'the heavy' as he started to hurl abuse down the line as soon as we identified ourselves, so loud at times he could not be heard correctly, we were threatened wi...th "being personally billed for each minute if we contacted consumer affairs. Quite scary considering this person has access to our address details. Anyway, we contacted CA, who did attempt calling gic who told them complete lies of resolution and they could no longer assist!! My advice, read these reviews and go somewhere else for ur camper all we asked for was 6 poles to be replaced and some stitching along one ripped seam sewn if the awning could not be replaced. The salesmen are gentlemen prior to leaving with ur collected trailor - pray for perfect weather where ever u go - cos u won't wish to deal with gic after sales
We bought our Gic camper in 2009, it was the cheapest quality and the heaviest to put up, it pooled with water and leaked badly, ended up taking tent off and using as trailer. We hosed the tent about four times when we bought it home, but it still pooled badly, not fun.
Rubbish! Don't Buy One!
I'm not at all surprised when I read the other posts. I purchased mine in 2011 for our 'trip of a lifetime' and I was hoping the quality and service might have improved since then. Evidently not. We were more or less novices when we brought or unit and fell for the claims made by the sales guy. When we had many problems with it, they turned on us, rude attitudes and refusal to fix some of the problems. They eventually fixed some of the issues when threatened with litigation. I can't believe that well known figures in the 4x4 and camping industr...y would endorse this rubbish, they must be getting great money to sell their opinions. Note: We bought a so-called full off road model. Nothing Problems after the first four weeks of use: off road coupling cracked and fatigued, gas bottle holder broke and gas bottle fell off in transit, my wife cut herself quite badly on the kitchen, paint cracked and chipped off and surface rust formed, the bed ladder wore a hole in the PVC floor, tent leaked significantly (yes we did proof it properly), tent zipper broke. The list goes on!
Cheap, because it is rubbish.
I have been using camper trailers for years and am well versed in camping. This camper though is the worst investment I have ever made. All looks good in the showroom but it's the things you don't notice that will come back to bite you. The quality of the components is laughable but the sales pitch is well rehearsed and believable. Lots of "we'll throw this in for free", but what they are really saying is, "give us your money and we will give you the cheapest piece of rubbish imaginable".

Absolutely disgusting service
Would never recommend GIC to anyone. After sales communication is horrible at best, rude abusive staff. Warranty never honoured, they told my repairer that it wasn't there trailer it was a home made trailer, funny that with there compliance plate etc on the trailer. When I asked them about there bad name on the internet there reply was it was all coming from their competition I now know differently. Save your money and buy elsewhere. Trust me!
We brought a GIC camper and have had nothing but headaches with the trailer and the so called proud business owners. The tent leaks after a heavy down fall the zips on the windows will not open and the lid on the tool box dont close the tent starts to fall apart with the stitching all this within 3 months. Call GIC to explain what is happening and get told that me as the owner of a so called market leaders trailer must be using to much force to do all this damage. I laugh at [name removed] and tell him i paid 8k to treat my trailer like hell do...nt think so bud. GIC should have poor workshipman on there trailer and even worse treatment for consumers after buying there product as they wont honour there warranty policy they have in place. My advice to all wanting to buy GIC you should have a good think about this product as it is going to be a hassle if you run into problems witch you will without dobut and go to a more trusted dealer. GIC FAILS and consumers be AWARE they dont have a honest policy in place at all. SO STAY AWAY
ordinary service at time of pick up
I was only after an off road trailer with a few modifications which the salesman said was not a problem but upon pick up these items (which I was most certainly billed for ) were to say the least inadequate But I was told that despite the salesmen taking down details and assuring me that want I wanted was "pretty straight forward" that because I didnt do drawings and give measurements it was my fault that it wasnt right with two sales people and a factory worker standing around me telling me that I was being unreasonable with my request I felt ...to say the least some what bullied into just hooking it up and driving away un happy. And of course the original salesman was no where to be seen. the few accessories that again I was told I could have on the trailer were suddenly unavailable due to some other modifications I wanted. Over all trailer looks great I am yet to see how it performs etc but will keep you posted but having worked in the customer service industry for about 30 years customer service is the one thing they lack..... very fast turn around time paint does look thin certainly wasnt told during pricing that rego wasnt included
My two cents
Very rough finish, No after sales service and don't honour warranty. Electrical not soldered and scotch locked instead. Bald tyres, poor welding with weld splatter everywhere. Wind down legs bent at first use and had to use car jack to stabilize it. Flywire seam split at third use. Gas bottle holder separated causing me to lose a brand new just filled gas bottle. Hoses to sink & tank not clamped and prone to being cut in the holes they go through. Also the drawbar is welded across the top adjoining the trailer. Any trailer manufacturer knows th...is is a huge no no and should only be welded across the length as it weakens the steel. Make up your own minds though, I'm stuck with it and can fix/modify it so it will do but I just wanted to warn people about the issues. Stay away from this company and spend a little more or if on a budget buy secondhand instead!!! Just my two cents!! Cheap....
Absolute rubbish! Don't make the same mistake I did.
I purchased an off road trailer in late 2010 for our families "trip of a lifetime" around oz. After only six weeks away, the thing started to fall apart. To give you an idea of what we did, we travelled north from Sydney up the coast (all highway driving and caravan parks then bush camped on Frazer island and the trailer and tent started to literally fall apart around us. We spoke to staff and they were dismissive and told us we got what we paid for. After much argument and threats of legal action they eventually agreed to repair the trailer un...der warranty. Unfortunately the 'repair' simply consisted of replacing the broken sub-standard parts with different sub-standard parts. Service was terrible, goods did not match the description and I was refused a refund. I did not have the energy or Means to fight them in court over the issue so ended up losing money selling their rubbish and purchasing a real camper trailer. I would like to stress that we were very specific as to our requirements when dealing with the staff and told them exactly what we intended doing with the trailer, we then purchased a unit that they claimed was suitable for the job. Maybe this product would be ok if all you intended on doing was the occasional on-road trip to a caravan park in dry weather??? All this after only six weeks on the road: The off-road coupling cracked and split, surface rust and stone chips (paint very thin and poorly applied without under coating), gas bottle holder fell apart and gas bottle fell off Whilst driving, one of the stabilizer legs broke, stainless steel kitchen had concealed sharp edges causing my wife to cut her hand, flyscreen on door ripped, a hole wore in the PVC floor and even after extensive weathering, the canvass still leaked in the rain. I am an experienced camper who got sucked in by the lure of a 'cheapy' please don't make the same mistake I did!
Lack of customer service
The tent seems great but the lack of customer service and the lack of attention to detail on the trailer overshadows the good things. I work in the automotive industry and this type of service just wouldnt cut it
When i ordered the trailer i was surposed to get a confimation email, this didnt happen, i asked for a slight change in the trailer (hubs) and it was a little hard fore the salesman to understand (i didnt want landcruiser hubs) in the end i got the hubs i wanted. I have used the trailer twice now and the tent is great but looking cl...osely at the trailer i find that it is pretty poor quality with a total lack of attention to detail. i dont believe there is as much paint as they say it has as there is rust forming around a few of the welded joints and it is only painted where it is easy to see ,The welding spatter wasn't cleaned off and is rusting, there was swarf on all the guards and was going rusty when i picked it up . the jerry can holder is way too wide for most cans, the gas bottle holder is to big for the specified gas bottle. When i got it home one of the leveling legs had the plastic pad broken so i called them and they were going to mail a new one to me, i'm still waiting (4 months). I cant be bothered calling them about the rust problems and the gas and jerry holders its not worth the trouble nice and affordable. tent seems good quality even though it is imported There is no customer service at all.

We recently purchased a new 2019 "demo" Sergeant. We were wondering what size propane bottles fit in the factory racks? The website says an 8.8lb bottle, but we could not find such a thing anywhere online. Is is just a standard 20lb tank? Thank you in advance.
In the sergeant you can fit 4.5kg gas bottle holders.
The water tank is 80Litres
