Tent is below standard
When we bought our camper we were really looking forward to the ease and convenience of it. We were very sorry when we got it, the twelve foot tent is not as easy to put up as we thought it would be. We had put it up twice when we found that the corners had pulled out (we had been setting up a canvas cabin tent for years, so we know not to over extend it), when we called the company to ask about getting it fixed the abused us and told us it was our fault and would not fix it. The brakes would not work, when my husband had a look it had been wir...ed up wrong, (more abuse over this). My husband has a bad hip and i have a bad arm so we thought it would be easy to set up, wrong again, it was a pain nothing would sit right and it was hard to pull out unless you left a door or window open to stop the suction. The trailer is basically fine however to get to the spare wheel you have to undo the bolts on top and it is too close to the rock guard on the front, the locks on the storage box are hard to open, the water tank had no breather hole so when you filled it it spat it back at you all the time. The tank is not as big as it was supposed to be. We did not even gt the bike rack that was supposed to come with it. The zipper on the cover was very stiff and used to catch all the time, it also frayed at the end so it was hard to put together to do up. One of the stabilizer legs broke, the locks on the draws are sticky and hard to open, the screen on the door has holes around the edge from where it pulls when you open and close it, if it is not exact it is very hard to open the door, the window Velcro does not match up when you close them. The supports under the bed have all bent and we are not huge people. My husband is a qualified mechanic and is able to do anything he puts his mind to and we have been lucky that he has been able to make some modifications to make things easier and work properly, but we still have a lot to do to it because the tent is falling apart. NOT HAPPY WITH THE WORKMANSHIP ON THE TENT AT ALL. Also the cover leaks water and the trailer leaks dust. The trailer is the only part that has stood up to our expectation apart from a couple of minor things poor workmanship, warranty does not seem to exist, tent is poorly put together, nothing is reinforced on the tent.
I guess you get what you pay for
I brought mine (2012 model) new off a family friend who had it for 12 months but had never used it and it had been stored in a shed on a farm.
So for what I paid him for it I can't complain however the workmanship on the finish product looks like an apprentice finished it, welds were covered with silicon, the hoses to the hand pump weren't secure, rough edges weren't filed for example the bike rake had burs where it had been drilled, the lock on the tool box easily broke and still don't know why as I store my recovery gear and battery in it, t...
Picked up camper in Brisbane and towed back to Rocky. Tows well. Overall finish after close inspection disappointing for a $16,000 camper. Actually cut my finger on sharp edge of one of the draws. Numerous loose nuts and bolts. Water tank leaks. Problems not hard to fix but should have been done before delivery.
Tows well and looks good.
Decent product, after sales service???
I previously owned a Cub Camper and recently upgraded (in size) to a GIC.
The ideas and general construction are good, but a few things could be improved. The paint is a thin single coat that chips when you look at it. A little modification to the pole setup and the tent is much more robust (I purchased a total of 6 extra upright and spacer poles).
If you have an issue with the tent, go to a canvas repairer yourself, much less grief than asking them about it. I really wonder what there warranty does actually cover (if anything).
The camper ...
Cheap Camper Trailor
Not a bad price, and it all seems to go ok. , but the locking latches keep bouncing out and unlocking .. easy fixed with a dedicated locking pin to hold the latches in, but a tad annoying . otherwise.. all is ok
Otherwise I am very happy.
latches keep unlatching , so the doors and holders start flapping around
No help with Problems
Got in contact about flaws in canvas and leaking stiches no help at all
They lost my emails called again they didn't want to really help.THey reckon it was wear and tear this camper has been use 3 times .i also rang to see if I could buy another ladder and was told to get myself a step ladder not good backup service at all .
Happy with camper
We have had a gic camper for about two years and have been faily happy with it in that time . You get what you pay for so there are a few small adjustments to be made after the first time you take it out , like securing the ladder so getting of the bed is not such a drama. We found we needed a lot more spreader bars but I believe this is a common complaint with most campers . We had alot of rain on one trip, with no leaks in the tent. We have done mainly caravan parks in our camper.
Value for money
Short of spreader bars
Be careful when buying from GIC Campers as they do not cover stitching in their warranty, you think the stitching would last more than 2 trips away but it didn't. Noting I paid $8000 for it you would think they would stand buy their product. Its a shame I have to write this.
Very Poor Warranty Service
It is what it claims to be - cheap but does the job.
I think GIC get a hard time due to earlier product failures that I have read about, but not experienced. Picked mine up and I must say I was underwhelmed with the service, a lot of waiting around, but no one was rude and things went smoothly. Drive back to Queensland proved that new trailer was excellent to tow and well balanced. Inspection revealed workmanship was mostly good and better than I was expecting. Price for the offroad 18 foot model was spot on. Putting it up was easier than I thought it would be and all poles and inclusions we...re there. Overall, sales staff over the phone are good, but once they have the sale you become an annoyance if you make further inquiries, at least that's the feeling I got. I've put it up and towed it full twice now and tobe honest, I like it. For the price it does everything I ask, which is highway and flat dirt road driving only. Tent has been brilliant - velco resiliant to high winds and roof hasn't let in a drop. Tows well and is well balanced. Easier to put up than I expected and the tent is huge, perfect for my large family. Price is excellent. My 2011 tent has not leaked in rain and is huge. Everything works and nothing has broken despite some unexpected hash bumps from our national highways. Some shoddy welding and the aint spray is very slap dash and thinner than I expected. When I fitted the number plate, I noticed that the paint on the rear did not have the layers that the manufactuer claims. Point of sale blokes are not interested when you arrive to pick up your trailer. Hoses from the water tank are woeful and I'll replace mine when the first one splits, which shouldn't be too long.
I've only used this camper once and it stood up to quiet a heavy night of wind and rain, with another camper near mine bent poles and had lots of leaks. I probably wouldn't recommend this camper to any of my friends as the service was terrible. I have worked in the motor industry for 19 years and have never seen such bad service from salesman.
Salesman who don't know the product and can't answer your basic questions, or they just don't want to. I think the ones they have on the showroom floor are of better quality than the unit you will act...ually receive. The paint work is a joke and there is no way they put as many coats as they say or even an undercoat. Anyway I have already made some repairs and improvements as it was all too hard to discuss it with the staff it was easier just to do it myself. He had me wait for 20 minutes without even acknowledging that I was there, and then gave me the run around with registering the trailer. If i was the owner of this company I would be very concerned with the build quality of the product and the quality of staff that he employs, even if this employee does drive a Porsche. I look after three states in a Sales Managers capacity and cannot believe how I was treated on picking up my trailer. The build quality is ordinary to say the least, but can cop some of that as it was cheap. I have already had the water pump handle on the kitchen break, and that was before we even left on our first trip. I have fixed it myself because I couldn't be bothered with taking it back to them. Overall you get what you paid for and for 4k with all the options what can I say, but if I was to do it again I would probably spend a couple more and buy a better trailer. Tent qualities are all around the same for the imported tents unless you buy an aussie made canvas tent. I will be using this over the Easter break so I hope it stands up to the critism I have given. Cheap camping. Bad service on pickup by certain sales man who thinks he is the sales manager.

Our tent is in very poor condition with the windows over the bed falling apart as well as all the straps disintegrating.
We recently purchased a new 2019 "demo" Sergeant. We were wondering what size propane bottles fit in the factory racks? The website says an 8.8lb bottle, but we could not find such a thing anywhere online. Is is just a standard 20lb tank? Thank you in advance.
In the sergeant you can fit 4.5kg gas bottle holders.
The water tank is 80Litres
Does anybody have a problem with the starter on the 3 burner stove
