Great item, poor communication
My husband and I were lucky enough to take ownership of our classic fold this past weekend. While the handover was smooth and quick, communication in the lead up to this was very disappointing. It seems that the advertisement stating immediate delivery was not true as we waited just on a month and we were the ones making contact with Black series to find out which stages we were at etc...
Can’t fault the product so far, it tows nicely and was easy to set up!

Black series Camper trailer
We purchased the Black series camper trailer from Sydney and the salesmen was good and knew a lot about the product. The trailer is made overseas and as such the quality is not great, when we got the trailer home we could not get the pump to work. It turned out that the points had not been terminated correctly lucky for us we have a family member who is an electrician and he sorted it for us but this should have been checked better before handing over to the client on pick up. We were promised a kids room when they were in stock but a couple of...
Read more months later they said they had stopped making the kids room!! We did get a refund but i would have rather received the kids room!! Overall for the price of around $10k we got what we expected so pretty happy.Other Caravan & Camper Trailer Shops

Sales department need some improvement
In November of 2017 we ordered a Dominator camper trailer at Black Series. We live in the Netherlands, so we bought it after exchanging some e-mails with one of the Sydney salesmen. Our experience with the sales department of Black Series is not good. We had a delivery issue (delivered later than was promised) and the two salesmen that said to help us were too bad in communicating with us (like not calling or e-mailing back when promised). There were some other issues as well: We didn’t get any instructions on how to set-up and put down the tra...
Read moreiler (we received our trailer in Perth and the location there was just closed so there was nobody at the pick-up). There were also some minor things, like a missing mudflap and some of the reflectors fell off in the first hour we drove our trailer. However, after putting a bad review here, we were approached by someone of customer support from the Melbourne department of Black Series. He helped us out very well! He sent us the missing/broken parts and also some extra stuff, answered all the questions we had still had and he also seemed to really care that we ended up as happy customers. When two weeks ago our gas stove stopped working he also helped us to get it locally fixed (since we’re on the road). Altogether we are happy with the trailer. It’s an easy set-up (especially the basic set-up) and it’s spacious enough for us (two). It’s not the best quality, but hey, it’s the cheapest forward fold camper trailer you can get. If you have laid eyes on this camper trailer, just don’t order it when being in a tight time schedule. Be aware it might take a few weeks longer. And do not order at the Sydney department if you want a trustworthy salesman, then you’ll be fine!1 comment

Good camper - after care is a concern
I'm impressed with the camper (Extreme Commando) but I am very frustrated at the after care. I completed the customer support form over 3 weeks ago, provided all of the necessary information and photos (one of my tent peg anchors has come off). I've called up the Sydney office 3 times now. Each time I have been assured I would hear back from someone - still no response. This is very frustrating. Above all, I wanted a response from someone, and to know what the next steps were to resolve the issue. Just basic customer service.

We really do enjoy our Dominator Camper Trailer, we have just one question for other Dominator users
We have owned our Black Series camper trailer since late April 2017. This is our first camper trailer and it is fair to say that the learning curve has been very steep. However, we are in most respects happy with the trailer. It did tick all of the boxes we had when looking for a suitable trailer and still does.
I do have a couple of questions still unanswered so if there are any other Black Series owners out there, particular owners of either Dominator or Patron.
The Question is:- “are there three holes cut into the dividing wall between ...
Read morethe Fridge compartment and the Storage Compartment in your campers?” Now, before continuing with this letter I would like to acknowledge that in my opinion CIG Pty Ltd are in business for just one reason and that is to make money! The assembly & sales of the Black Series Camper Trailers and their staff are just vehicles to that end. As I understand also, the original equipment manufacture in China sells the Base Unit to Several Australian Customers who inturn assemble and add those necessary features as they see fit.8 comments

Camper is great though workmanship leaves a bit to be desired
Camper itself is great easy enough to set up can’t say enough about that side down side is workmanship in putting it together wasn’t to great problems so far after taking it out for its second trip is kitchen tap fallen apart have to shorten water feed line to pump because of being to long an kinked over so no or very little water supply. POP rivets holding the kitchen together falling out not holding the collapsible sides together. 100mah battery not holding charge an box on drawbar not completely water sealed allowing the box to flood if goin...

Bad Stitching, missing sides.
Bought the camper in September '16, and since I bought it for work. It has has always been on the road. First time I set it up with just the awning, noticed the central stiching was way off centre. They told me to get it fixed and send the bill, bit hard when your in a spot 1 or 2 weeks at a time (wouldn't just replace). Then finally got a chance to take the wife away for 2 weeks and took the whole kit and kabudle. Found we are missing 2 sides, told crap no care, then 3 weeks ago the stove stopped working. AGAIN rand [name removed] in Sydney and not have hear a peep !! Now seeing where I stand legally!

Will keep you updated with progress
I have been trying to organise logistics of getting camper trailer across our broad continent in a timely manner, told nothing can be discussed until full payment made. Full payment made today now told we need to wait 2-3 days for it to clear before they can discuss dates??
I originally made contact with GIC back in early to mid April to organise purchase of a camper trailer, they said someone would ring me back that day, they didn't so I rang them. They said someone would get back to me that week, they didn't. So I rang them earlier this mo...

Really? just chasing some honest communication!! I was hoping that there would be an improvement with customer service once full payment was made. August 2nd 2016 Update: Will keep you updated - Buyer beware! Thanks for the contact. I tried to call today but you weren't there this afternoon. ...
Read more I was sent an email on the 14th stating that it would arrive in WA on the "Looking at the end of the month to early July", so not entirely useful but an update all the same and the first communication since payment. i live in Broome and need to try and organise at least a rough date for someone (probably my dad) to pick it up when it is delivered to Perth- unless transport can be to Mandurah WA? Also wanted the unit to go to Wyndham for wedding in first week of July- hence 2 attempts to order back in April. I had also discussed with one of the sales rep when I originally placed the order that I was hoping to get the trailer to Perth by late June- this was not a problem on the phone when placing the order and then after paying the deposit I was told we could not discuss delivery until full payment was made... Hence the feedback. Please note I am not making negative comments, just stating my experience as it has happened thus far. I have documented all of my phone calls (with name, time and dates) and obviously have emails, which I think is good advice for anyone making large transactions remotely. I am still anticipating receiving a high quality, Australian built camper trailer that I will rave about for many, many years to come. Regards, ConcernedCalled GIC myself yesterday...trailer still in workshop and going on the truck next thursday to be delivered to Perthat end of July...but they did offer a free storage cover for the inconvenience.

I guess you get what you pay for
I brought mine (2012 model) new off a family friend who had it for 12 months but had never used it and it had been stored in a shed on a farm.
So for what I paid him for it I can't complain however the workmanship on the finish product looks like an apprentice finished it, welds were covered with silicon, the hoses to the hand pump weren't secure, rough edges weren't filed for example the bike rake had burs where it had been drilled, the lock on the tool box easily broke and still don't know why as I store my recovery gear and battery in it, t...

Emperor Camper
Picked up camper in Brisbane and towed back to Rocky. Tows well. Overall finish after close inspection disappointing for a $16,000 camper. Actually cut my finger on sharp edge of one of the draws. Numerous loose nuts and bolts. Water tank leaks. Problems not hard to fix but should have been done before delivery.
Tows well and looks good.
Overall finish
Decent product, after sales service???
I previously owned a Cub Camper and recently upgraded (in size) to a GIC.
The ideas and general construction are good, but a few things could be improved. The paint is a thin single coat that chips when you look at it. A little modification to the pole setup and the tent is much more robust (I purchased a total of 6 extra upright and spacer poles).
If you have an issue with the tent, go to a canvas repairer yourself, much less grief than asking them about it. I really wonder what there warranty does actually cover (if anything).

Read moreellent reputation GIC enjoys in the Australian camping industry, customer expectations can sometimes become a little high/ unrealistic. Whether it’s a GIC or an imported competitor trailer, the product should be fit for its purpose of carrying the owner family safely for the entire camping trip. GIC’s hard earned reputation for toughness speaks for itself when compared to the cheap overseas versions. Please look on the 12’ Deluxe Grey Tent specifications page on the GIC website. A “virtual tent tour” plus also a setup instructional video was filmed and uploaded last month. BTW I agree a local canvas tradesman can fix most repairs on a tent for around $60 per hour, most jobs would take much less than 60 minutes to rectify.GRUMBLEBUMSydney, NSW

Cheap Camper Trailor
Not a bad price, and it all seems to go ok. , but the locking latches keep bouncing out and unlocking .. easy fixed with a dedicated locking pin to hold the latches in, but a tad annoying . otherwise.. all is ok
Otherwise I am very happy.
Buy one!
Price !
latches keep unlatching , so the doors and holders start flapping around

Happy with camper
We have had a gic camper for about two years and have been faily happy with it in that time . You get what you pay for so there are a few small adjustments to be made after the first time you take it out , like securing the ladder so getting of the bed is not such a drama. We found we needed a lot more spreader bars but I believe this is a common complaint with most campers . We had alot of rain on one trip, with no leaks in the tent. We have done mainly caravan parks in our camper.
Value for money
Short of spreader bars

Warranty Issue
Be careful when buying from GIC Campers as they do not cover stitching in their warranty, you think the stitching would last more than 2 trips away but it didn't. Noting I paid $8000 for it you would think they would stand buy their product. Its a shame I have to write this.
Good Tent
Very Poor Warranty Service

It is what it claims to be - cheap but does the job.
I think GIC get a hard time due to earlier product failures that I have read about, but not experienced. Picked mine up and I must say I was underwhelmed with the service, a lot of waiting around, but no one was rude and things went smoothly. Drive back to Queensland proved that new trailer was excellent to tow and well balanced. Inspection revealed workmanship was mostly good and better than I was expecting. Price for the offroad 18 foot model was spot on. Putting it up was easier than I thought it would be and all poles and inclusions we...
Read morere there. Overall, sales staff over the phone are good, but once they have the sale you become an annoyance if you make further inquiries, at least that's the feeling I got. I've put it up and towed it full twice now and tobe honest, I like it. For the price it does everything I ask, which is highway and flat dirt road driving only. Tent has been brilliant - velco resiliant to high winds and roof hasn't let in a drop. Tows well and is well balanced. Easier to put up than I expected and the tent is huge, perfect for my large family. Price is excellent. My 2011 tent has not leaked in rain and is huge. Everything works and nothing has broken despite some unexpected hash bumps from our national highways. Some shoddy welding and the aint spray is very slap dash and thinner than I expected. When I fitted the number plate, I noticed that the paint on the rear did not have the layers that the manufactuer claims. Point of sale blokes are not interested when you arrive to pick up your trailer. Hoses from the water tank are woeful and I'll replace mine when the first one splits, which shouldn't be too long.Questions & Answers

We recently purchased a new 2019 "demo" Sergeant. We were wondering what size propane bottles fit in the factory racks? The website says an 8.8lb bottle, but we could not find such a thing anywhere online. Is is just a standard 20lb tank? Thank you in advance.
