My life is destroyed and I'm only 30
I was involved in an accident. A TRUCK plowed us from behind when we were stationary. I had previous back injuries. This accident made my back from feeling annoying to can't walk, crying in pain all the time, lost some feeling in legs and bed bound. Tried applying for assistance with gio as they were the person who hit me insurer. They wouldn't even give me the claim form. Had to get lawyers envolved just to make a claim. They gave me physio but the physio people said i had to stop as it wasnt helping and told me to go to a neurosurgeons. asked...gio to get me a neurosurgeon. They wouldn't even pay for a neurosurgeon which I couldn't afford because now I couldn't work. They said to me im a liar and they where not paying for anything as i had a back injury before hand even though i told them from the beginning. Every time I tried to speak to gio they acted like complete idiots. They lose paper work even though it was registered mail, they couldn't even spell my name or address after repeating it slowly 5 times and sent it in writing, they even didn't write the correct address on mail they were sending me. Luckly the post office picked that up. Now I'm battling them with my lawyers and Gio are saying my injuries had nothing to do with the accident. i now have a nerosurgon who says i can clearly see the injuries but I can't have surgery because it's a 50% I can lose the ability to walk or worse. gio said my life is only worth $30k. I can no longer work even though I did before the accident, I can't look after my property, I cant stand for more than 10mins or walk for 10 if I do I'm in absolute agony. The painkillers make me dizzy and tired all the time. I cant go places, i cant even cook my own meals, i cant even see friends far away without being in pain, go on a rollercoaster, ride a bike again, 4x4ing , camping. . . Life is without meaning. All I want them to do is own up to it and pay me what my life is worth.. instead of struggling to pay people for help just to mow my lawn. Gio has ruined my life because of there greed.
Worst Company for CTP’s
Terrible terrible company for CTP I am a wholesale motor dealer I purchased a ctp online and approximately 6 weeks later they contacted me saying that they wanted another $170 or they would cancel my policy plus my rego as I filled in the online application incorrectly.
The next CTP I needed I rang and got a helpful consultant who I explained to that I’m a motor dealer so she did the application for me and told me if I do it myself I need to put in business use and claiming GST and surprisingly the policy was not much more.
So I bought the next...
Great service and support
I was a not at fault driver injured in a recent car accident. I made a claim via the at fault driver's CTP insurance. My case manager at GIO CTP was lovely, she was understanding and did everything she could to assist me with treatment and revovery.
Death is not an extenuating circumstance.
The title is not a direct quote from the GIO rep, but its the gist of it. My cousin Andrew died two days after his rego was due, and by virtue of him being only 38 years old the coroner insisted on holding his body until an autopsy was performed. Nearly three weeks later he was released with the death certificate and we could transfer the rego, but unfortunately the 21 day deadline for 6 months rego had passed.
Between our grief, the funeral, and dealing with the rest of his affairs we just wanted to register the vehicle so we could sell it, ...and not throw money away on a full year of registration A quick call to Service NSW was promising: the 21 day deadline could be waved due to extenuating circumstances, but only if the CTP insurer agreed. After an immediate call to GIO on the Friday, then another at 9am Monday morning as the relevant team was not present, the chipper rep commiserated with me on my loss. After a brief stint on hold while she contacted the operations team, she returned significantly more subdued: our situation did not meet the requirements for extenuating circumstances. I tried to probe for what would meet if (if not death and a coronial investigation!) but no answer was forthcoming and I was left staring at my phone with tears in my eyes and no answers. So to whomever at GIO decided that death was NOT an extenuating circumstance I say this: I hope that you never have to deal with a situation like ours, because nobody deserves bureaucracy interfering with their grief.
THEY RIP YOU OFF
Paid taxi greenslip $3,028.74 then 4 months later letter arrived saying we owed another $2606.96 otherwise they would contact RMS and cancel our rego. We paid but quite a few other taxi drivers got the same letter and ignored it. Funny how GIO wrote off the second request for payment for those drivers. I wish another company did greenslips for taxis. Greatest rip off ever.
