Car Insurance

Why would I need to pay an extra $175.01 for green slip. That is definitely not my fault, it is your responsibility to provide customers with a correct amount to pay. You can’t say pay $580 by the due date and after couple of weeks send them a letter saying that you need to pay extra money. If I knew I had to pay that much extra, I would have chosen another substitute (there are heaps of companies out there). This is horrible!!
Any advice as to who I can complain about that?

Yes you can. But why bother. I recently used their preferred repairer and the job was excellent. GIO even provided a free hire car for the period the vehicle was being repaired.

If the driver at fault makes a claim to repair their car from GIO you should submit a quote to repair your vehicle with GIO. You should have your vehicle assessed for repair. GIO being the insurer of the party at fault should offer you a solution to attend their assessment centre. If you get no response from GIO then issue a notice of intention to claim against the other driver. The quote needs to be done by a licensed smash repairer and you send a letter of demand to the at fault driver. They will submit that to their insurance company GIO and they should get in touch and arrange for a release to approve work to go ahead.
Morale of this story is You get what you paid for. Always have insurance despite the fact that most insurers have issues because they try to reduce exposure and liability. Believe it or not having Inurance is a better solution than having none. At least third party insurance. You get what you pay for. In your case that may turn out to be nothing. Next time you buy a car worth insuring you simply need to arrange the insurance. If you cannot afford to buy insurance catch the bus.

When I put my car in to smash repairer car engine/performance was fine I've never had a problem, when I picked it up once it was ready the car sounded like a truck and I would hear a grinding noise when I would drive up a hill. there wasn't any damage to the engine as there was minimal damage on the front left hand of my car. Has my engine been tampered with as I cant drive it. They had the car from Monday 16/3/2015 and it was there until 26/3/2015. What can I do?

GIO offers lifetime guarantee on repairs, so your first point of call should be GIO and make a claim under this guarantee (the guarantee is provided by GIO's contract with you, not the repairer's contract with GIO). They will simply open your existing claim so you won't have to pay an additional excess.

You should explain the situation to them. They'll likely appoint an independent assessor to validate your claim that your engine has been tampered with. If it found that the repairer had done something to cause this damage, they will either get that repairer to fix it, or get another repairer.

However if they claim that the repairer did nothing wrong and deny your claim under the lifetime guarantee, it would be up to you to prove them wrong. Once you got evidence to substantiate, go back to them, their internal dispute department, and eventually the FOS. If all else fails you'll need to issue proceedings (but shouldn't get to that stage). Obviously the difficult part is getting evidence to substantiate.
