Gliderol Garage Doors - Faulty Products & Worst Customer Service nightmare. Strongly Don't recommend
Gliderol Garage Door installed by Metricon builders in Feb 2013. Very unreliable product. The Garage Door was well serviced every year as per the manufacturer's Owners maintenance advice/instructions. The Garage door lost its settings and got stuck. As per the Users' Manual, I had to disconnect power and reset again. I called Gliderol to look into the issue. They said the Product is covered for only 3 years and it is out of warranty. So I forked out $135 for the Gliderol Service technician to come in and look at it. He said the settings were ou...t of whack and reset them. Garage door failed to open the second day. The Service Technician came in again and said it might be the electronic circuit board and replaced it with a new one. Garage door still failed to work. He then said it might be the Motor unit (cost $165 one year warranty) + installation charges. There is no guarantee after 1 year. Gliderol warranty team in Sydney, NSW is not of help for customers. They never return your calls and try to avoid any warranty claims. I have seen other garage Doors work seamlessly for years together without any issues. I highly recommend not to go with this product.
Gliderol -Another Word for Junk
Installed about four years ago. Three months after installation it wouldn't go all the way down leaving a 3cm gap. I waited 6 weeks for installer to reset. Worked okay for another three months before the gap started to reappear. I waited another 4 or so weeks for it to be reset. Third time the installer promised to replace it if it happens again. Since December 2016 I have left 3 messages but installer won't reply. Gliderol tell me they no longer have a Perth office and their product only carries a 2 year warranty. Their recommended repairer advised me to replace with an alternative brand. Looks like I'll be another $660 out of pocket.

Second (new house) - Merlin - 5 years no problem
Third (new house) - Merlin - 9 years no problem
Fourth (new house) - Gliderol - 18 months - total failure, waiting for repair, out of warranty
Not impressed - will actively recommend against Gliderol products.
Top roller door installed
I ordered a new Gliderol garage roller door through Bunnies. received a call the next day to arrange a time for a quot. done that. Good price, Payed bunnies. One week later the installer came, took away the old one & fully installed the remote controlled door. The installer took me through all the ins & outs how to reprogram the unit.

Office Staff a bit hit and miss
A few months back I rung the office and spoke to someone about replacing one of the panels on my garage door. The Gliderol door was part of our Metricon build. The lady then was lovely, looked up our details, told me the size, the colour, options for window panels - Oxford or the Hampton. How much for the new panel $674/694 and for an extra $200 it would be delivered and installed. Today I rung back to organise it, and spoke to another lady, who promptly told me that no one at the office would have quoted me, they didn't do that and they wo...uldn't be looking my details up because there would be no need as they wouldn't have done that. Who was the lady I spoke to ..... unfortunately after a few months I've forgotten her name, wish I'd remembered it as I wouldn't have to dealt with this muppet - who's name I won't forget. After being rudely made to feel like a liar, I'm wishing I didn't have to replace a panel in my door (which isn't a necessity but would like some windows - maybe I'll just get a brand new door). After stating several times, I understand if they don't do that any more but it had been done previously, the uppity muppet again stated very rudely that they'd never do that and blablabla. Seriously I know who I called, Gliderol was who I called because they were the ones that made my door ....... the muppet on the other end needs to learn how to talk to customers.
We have brand new Gliderol Panel door installed by our builder. After using this for 15 months, the screws from one of the hinge on the side holding the roller came off while closing, the whole door twisted and the wire on the side of the door also came loose. We contacted the office and sent photos of the defects as requested. After reading a few reviews regarding this company, we were not surprised that they denied their poor workmanship but advised to come at a call out charge of 90+ dollars. We got other garage repairers to fix the problem ...at a much lower rate,and a lot of other screws needed to be tightened up as well. No one would expect a garage door would come off the rail within such a short period of time. We had been using a similar type of garage door of different brand ( B&D) for over 18 years without any problem at all except need a small part changed due to wear and tear after over 10 years of use. We had a lot of problems with Gliderol roller door in the past. If it wasn't the builder insisted of installing this door, we would not install a Gliderol door. Now, we will never have another Gliderol garage door
If I could give zero stars, I would!
Terrible door. Warranty lapsed and guess what happened? A component broke. Paid several hundred for repairs to be made. And then after only a few years, the door constantly jams, and even worse, I have come home to find the garage door has opened by itself. Crap and unreliable.
Rude And Useless
Just plain rude, taking my business elsewhere.
Rude to me on the phone, then extremely rude to my mother when they came to do a measure a quote.
Not helpful at all. They will only do standard installs, will not even look at you if there is a slight complication.
After reading the other reviews I'm glad I've found another company that have been very helpful and POLITE.
I suggest Bunnings finds another supplier.
Gliderol + Merlin SilentDrive motor = Excellence
After 17 years it was time to tackle the noise an undersized motor was causing when the Gliderol garage door was operated! We have an opening >3m and the old Gliderol had been through hail storms and constant use over that time, without a bow, buckle or dent. The motor fitted back then was just not up to lifting the weight involved but the new motors lift these solid, large doors with so little noise I can't hear the door opening when I'm sitting in the car in the garage (albeit with the windows up). I reckon my neighbours are happy and so am I! Here in Brisbane everyone at ever stage of the replacement was wonderful.
Poor Service and brushed off when requesting problems with product
I have been contacted by Gliderol Garage Doors, Victoria, Warranty and Service. The man from the Service centre instructed myself to spray the spring and rollers of the garage panel lift door with lubricant such as WD40. I refused to do this myself since the spring and garage door has clear Caution and Warning signs on it. The signs state that only an expert can do maintenance to the spring and garage door. The signs say that the spring can cause "serious injury to hands and arms" while the door Warning sign advises that only an expert should a...ttempt to do maintenance to this door as it can cause "serious harmful injury or death". Clearly I am not an expert in this trade hence my requests to the Gliderol Service centre. I made a written complaint to the company about this to no avail. No one should attempt to do any service or repairs to this door mechanisms as it is seriously dangerous. If you're asked to do repairs yourself, refuse and tell Gliderol that this is their job to do and not yours (as I have done). This is really bad and negligent advice from Gliderol Service Centre and their way of brushing off customer requests for repairs and would void the warranty. So far Gliderol Service have done nothing towards their obligation to repair this problematic garage door. They are a hopeless company to deal with. I am not recommending these people to anyone. Since my original complaint to the company which installed the Glidermatic GTS 2000 overhead operator unit they did come out to do maintenance, repair or a complete replacement of the motor unit. The repair man lubricated all the wheels on the panel lift door and this had the effect of reducing a lot of the noise when this door opens and closes, so that's a good difference. Next the repairer removed the original problematic overhead unit. He replaced it with a new one out of the box. So that's another bonus point for both of us. Since this service and repair there have been no such significant problems as previously. So that's another good difference. Although I shouldn't have had to repeatedly contact and repeatedly ask or make requests to the company to come out and repair this door system. One and from the first request should have been sufficient for them to return a call and make arrangements. So I'm satisfied with the service and repair they've done on this occasion. bad warranty service and negligent dangerous advice from them
Difficult to deal with
My Gliderol failed to open when I pressed the button on the remote. I could hear the motor whirring but the door wouldn't lift. I called someone out to have a look and maybe fix it. A few days later someone came to look, he took about two minutes to just tell me I needed to replace the whole motor system and it would cost about $500. Fair enough, the system I have is pretty old, I guess I'll just replace it. Later I called Gliderol to schedule someone to come out and fix it. In the mean time it's worth pointing out that I cannot lock the rolle...rdoor - it lacks that function. Normally when its down, the motor kind of locks in place which keeps it shut. Without the motor working there's no way to keep it shut at night or while I'm at work, so I really want it fixed ASAP. Gliderol scheduled to have someone come out and give me a quote. I tried to explain that someone has already been out and looked at it and told me to just replace the whole system. They insisted that someone has to come and give me an official quote. OK, so what did the first guy do?? Now it's been well over a week with no locking rollerdoor, and I've been having to get out of my car in the driveway to put the door up and down, in the rain, like a commoner. Not happy. So, the guy comes out to quote me and he's literally there all of 20 seconds, leaves, and says I should call later to get the quote. Lo and behold, later that day, I call to get the quote and it's in the $500 range, like the first guy said. So, now I have to schedule for someone to actually come and fix it, which is all I wanted in the first place. 3 appointments, three times I've had to stay home from work and hang around the house like a goon waiting for these people to show up only for them to take two seconds to do what they do and then leave without fixing my door. When a customer calls and says their door is broken and needs to be fixed, send someone out to fix it! It shouldn't be this bloody difficult or take this long.

You cant make appointments, you sit and wait for them to call in the morning to tell you what time they will be there. No problem with that, They rang came out did a quick service and told me other components need fixing & realignment of the door is needed.He would put in the report and someone would get back to me. Unreliable with bad service
My Gliderol door broke, repairs cost $300. Door was repairwd and serviced.. 3 months 2 days later same part needed to be replaced. Called Gliderol again who stated warranty was only valid for a few weeks... Arranged for repairs but contractor never showed up... Absolutely appalling..
Terrible -Don't waste your time or money
Placed order through Bunnings, was required to pay in full up front, which I had, was told by Gliderol they would have Garage Doors (I had ordered paid for 2 $2500 ) they would be out within 10 days. 1 month later had still not heard from Gliderol Smithfield, Called them requesting for an update, said they'd call back, no call.. called again this time was told the order hasn't been sent to supplier Yet. Totally incompentant business company. Don't waste your time or money with Gliderol Smithfield. I got a refund from Bunnings immediately.
Be careful of Gliderol!
The quote I agreed to stated 50% payment once the quote was accepted and 50% at installation. The quote I signed allowed for this arrangement to be undertaken by providing credit card details. They deducted 50% and two days later deducted the remaining 50% for the final payment. I queried this, twice but know one bothered to reply to my emails.
The fine print on their quote is also truly Fine print. I needed a magnifying glass to read it, even with my reading glasses on.

I managed to sync the back door. But the front one won’t sync.
I did the exact same procedure. Pressed learn and pressed remote button. But it does nothing
The motor was working a week ago. On another remote and it now won’t work on that remote either?
Any ideas how to fix it
We tried manual operation, as power outage nearby last night - thought we should know how to put into manual mode. Worked it out but door will only open half way - not sure why - can anyone help? Thank you
woopsie was replying to Natalie and then submitted the reply without completing same! So. Natalie you have given me a jolt in that I had not even considered what to do in such circumstances as a blackout! Must no go and read the instructions in this regard. Also re the problems that I had with the door going up and being disengaged due to a wire coil coming loose and being wrapped around part of the door. Also I must now respond also to my original complete re this problem with the door, seemingly it may no have been the fault of the actual door itself, rather that the fault lay in the manner in which the door was installed. Seemingly it was not set level., hence the problem. I will just wait and see, but hope that I do not have a repeat performance!
Can anyone give me advice on why my remote batteries need replaced Avery few weeks? I am constantly having to replace the batteries ,this as after very few activations.
