Poor customer service
Kept on charging my account when my membership was over even after telling them that I don’t want to continue. No refund after realising their fault. Very poor customer service. I will not recommend this gym(Dernancourt SA) to anyone ever.
Just want your money
Unnecessary fees, employees are all very persuasive and pressure you to sign up to the most expensive membership. Tried to cancel my membership because I’m in financial hardship and they still made me pay $50 to get out of the membership.
Cancelled membership still being charged
My husband cancelled his membership on 6th January 2020 and Goodlife are still taking money out of our account. We contacted them and they have placed account until they investigate. What's to investigate? They are making excuses about whether membership was genuinely cancelled. Disgusted with their treatment of this whole matter. We are constantly having to chase this up as they seem incapable of doing their job. Jump to help when you sign up. Ignore you when you want to cancel.
Read your contract carefully! "where applicable" to Goodlife means "compulsory"
Beware of contract wording.
Although I am happy with my local Goodlife I have an issue with a component of my membership. When I joined, I was advised the details of the membership fees, and offered “quarterly coaching @ $9.99” I specifically declined this offer as I do not need it. (PS: what quality coaching would you get for $9.99 per quarter anyway?)
When I received the paperwork from Debit Success there was a $9.99 quarterly fee included. I contacted my local Goodlife and was advised that this fee is compulsory, contrary to what I was to...ld when I joined and in conflict to contract wording which states: “Quarterly Coaching (where applicable) $9.99/13 wks”. What part of "where applicable" translates to "compulsory"? The wording on the contract is misleading and deceptive. Very poor form Goodlife. I would rather give that $9.99/13 weeks to charity than Goodlife!
Amazing clubs, the best service where they really care about their members and provide incredible facilities
Staff are super friendly, great services, premium gym compared to others and great 24/7 access with a variety of options for different types of memberships. Creche is really handy too
great gym, pity about the litter
Payneham Goodlife is a great gym, the classes are fun and engaging. I did join to use the pool but that is not easy now because they have lots of kids swimming lessons there now. My only major gripe is the amount of litter around the building. I have mentioned this to reception before and they did follow up and clean the carparks free of rubbish however within a week it was back to the usual bad situation of lots of litter. There was a used nappy in the carpark near the entrance which sat there for a few days before anyone picked it up and put it in the bin. Please Goodlife if you are reading this clean up your act for the environments sake.
I strongly suggest not to join Goodlife Dernancourt the staff are horrible, judgmental and rude. They take your money and as soon as you question it they stop replying, stop calling back and you will never see that money again even though you have paid your membership. They change contracts on you without notifying you.

Pushy, refused to let me use my trial after wasting my time
I signed up for a 5 day trail at Cross Roads gym. I was told to show up half an hour before the class I wanted to try (with a person who is already a member). We did the "small talk" thing, have I ever been a member of any gym before, I said yes, actually used to be a member of a Goodlife gym on the other side of town about 5 years ago, and then some other gyms. All good, no problems.
Went through the gym, had to listen to the hard sell of hypoxi and everything else I wasn't interested in. Then we sat down to sign me up. I say I don't want to ...sign up today, I want to try it out and see if it's fitting in with my lifestyle for the 5 days and then sign up. That's why I signed up for a 5 day trial. The girl isn't interested in hearing this and I wait while she goes and "speaks to the manager" to get me another, lower quote. Again, I say I don't want to sign up today, I want to do my trial. So naturally, this was taken as "she wants to sit there and wait while I go back to the manager and get another quote", so again I'm sitting there waiting as she gets me another quote I didn't want, time is ticking and the class I wanted to try was about to start. Again, I say that I don't want to sign up today - I was there with my coworker who is a member, we were going to a class together and planning on making it a regular thing (I was pretty much 100% set on signing up after my trial, just didn't want to do it there and then). The sales girl then tells me, as the class is about to start, that because I was previously a member of a Goodlife gym (5 years ago, different location) that they wouldn't honor my 5 day trial because that's "only for new members" and that if I wanted to attend the class that night I would need to pay $20.
I have been a member for several years of Goodlife Glenelg as it was a convenient location, I was initially happy with the gym until they started to cut classes but persevered until I sustained an ongoing injury and decided to cancel my membership. I dealt with the “lady” who handles cancellations and it was like I was cutting her wage. As opposed to when I joined when staff were overly accommodating and payments processed swiftly, this person was an absolute disgrace, she was aggressive, rude, spoke over the top of me and initially refused to ...let me speak to her manager stating she was the manager. Unfortunately there are some awesome instructors there but the final dealing has left me with the lowest opinion of the club that I will never recommend to anyone. If you need to cancel, go through the company they use to direct debit, lovely staff and easy process.
Goodlife are THIEVES! DO NO give them your credit card number!!
Starting a week-to-week membership for my daughter, we assumed this would be the safest way to cease the membership and minimise losses when she inevitably failed to use the membership. She only went twice in 3 weeks. So I tried to cancel, discovered that Goodlife had stolen $99 from my credit card on top of the $26.95 per week that I thought I was getting charged. Then they had the nerve to tell me that I had to pay for a whole first month plus another 2 weeks membership as that was the minimum for cancellation. Clearly it is completely mi...sleading to offer a weekly membership option if there are hidden extras. Starting the membership was very simple and easy online- with no mention of extra charges. What a sneaky and dishonest business. I still can't find anywhere why I have been charged these random amounts. I'll be telling everyone not to go near this gym chain.
Good life Hindmarsh signed up a 15 yo without parental consent, changed the terms of the contract by changing to a student contract and continued debiting payments for over 6 weeks after initial complaint and cancelling. Outrageous. On top of this they were rude during every contact.
No care for members at ALL
West Lakes is the worst possible Goodlife to join. They allow all members to come there and it is impossible to be able to get a piece of equipment, a spot on the weights floor or somewhere in the functional area to do ground work. I have stopped going because its intimidating, the trainers are RUDE and a team member of Goodlife admitted they looked 'stand offish' but were actually nice. I was not offered any other solution other than pay out the remainder or pay more money to upgrade to a multi pass. They consistently inferred that i needed mo...re 'motivation' to come back to the gym and didn't even address the issue was not in me, but their facilities. A brand new built gym that is hogged by guys on the weights floor, rude trainers and staff who couldn't care less. The showers don't drain and when I addressed this it was ignored. The Arena setup is obnoxious and loud for anyone else trying to train and the classes are overcrowded with little ventilation in the room. Would not recommend Goodlife at all, they are the WORST possible gym to train at/interact with
