Perfect addition to the kitchen.
If you can get over the privacy concerns over using this device, its a useful little thing - kind of like a swiss army knife but for the kitchen. Besides all the benefits of hooking it up to a smart home set up (controlling tv and lights and all your other gadgets) it has many, many benefits.
When we first bought it my wife was rolling her eyes telling me telling me off for wasting money on this toy. But after a few months of using it, we can't do without it.
The feature that gets used the most in our household is the timer. You can tell Goog...
Read morele to put on multiple timers simultaneously, so you can put a timer for your slow cooker, your boiled egg and whatever else. If you have toddlers roaming the kitchen - the next feature is a lifesaver - YouTube. When a toddler needs a distraction, all you need to do is to command it to play Cocomelon or Wiggles Nursery Rhymes on YouTube. Perfect distraction. Very essential when cooking and you need that instant distraction. It can entertain the kids - you can ask it certain facts, make animal noises, recite the ABC's, answer math questions, count to 100 and so on. It's like having a handy mini-tablet in the kitchen. When it's not being used and by linking it up to Google Photos you can use it as a digital photo frame. And the sound quality is decent enough to listen to radio or to songs on YouTube.Purchased in December 2019 at Harvey Norman for $168.00.

What a game changer!!!!!
Last year I was stuck for ideas for the wife for her birthday, I looked at a few things and ended up buying the Google Home Nest and a chromecast as I thought it would be something interesting. She opened it and it was lukewarm, it got hooked up and it was just something to toy around with in the kitchen for a while. It played YouTube, music, answered some questions, told jokes etc so I thought I would add a light to it, well we haven't really stopped since then. Let's say that our house now is pretty much controlled or able to be controlled by...
Read more this. We have lights in around 90% of the areas, mini speakers in all the rooms, security cameras, motion sensors, tv's, stereos and more all linked up to this one little device (with a bit of help from the app too). Now I can hear some saying, that it is just lazy but at times it is a real luxury but it is also a necessity. I come home very late and instead of leaving lights on, I can turn them on via the app when I get home, I can also see via the cameras if the kids have done their jobs and also see what they are playing on the tv or speakers. A great option is that the kids can ask google to turn their bedroom lights on or off without using the switch which is awesome when their beds are not within arms length of the light switch and by saying goodnight to Google they can also read them bedtime stories or play relaxing music to help them sleep and for those of us who do night shifts and can't be there all the time that is a great help. The Nest itself is pretty much a 7 inch tablet that is voice activated to do pretty much anything you ask, it can be a stereo, it can be a mini tv and it can also help the kids with assignments, homework etc by being instant access to the internet. If you have ever considered having a central control hub for everything then this is a great starting point and you're not limited to where you can go from there.Purchased in July 2019 at Officeworks for $150.00.

Excellent device for use in the kitchen
I bought this to sit on top of a coffee machine in my kitchen and what a useful addition it has been. Everything from displaying the time, watching/listening to youtube music videos and food recipes, to displaying my photos functions very well, especially for the bargain basement price! Love it!

Does exactly what it says it will do on the box
This is not the loudest smart speaker, nor does it have the largest screen, but at its price point it is just right. You can pay more if you want louder or larger, but for me it is not too large to be obnoxious whilst still being large enough to read without glasses. As for audio volume, well I have an audio system for that - this is just for issuing instructions / asking questions to.
Some reviews have indicated that the WiFi capability of this device is lacking, but I have never experienced that.
One problem that I do agree with is that the...
Read more wall plug for 240v to 5v micro USB cable is too large to fit in between other plugs. I solved the problem by using a different adapter / cable - it works, but would be better if the consumer didn't have to solve these sort of simple problems that the manufacturer imposed upon us. The display is clear, 1024 x 600, bright enough for reading / watching in the middle of the day, can easily watch YouTube / surveillance camera / calendar / shopping list / timer / alarm / smart lights ect. The microphone can easily pick up everybody's voice, from anywhere in the Kitchen / Family Room area. I have had this for a little over a year now (Christmas 2018), and there have been 0 issues with it. No mechanical / electrical / electronic problems at all.Purchased in December 2018 at Harvey Norman for $199.00.

Brilliant
Does what it says on the box. Nice photo frame and clock face. Entertains the kids when needed. Speaker could be better but that’s what the Max model is for.

Love it !
I have only had the Google Home Hub for a few days, but I am loving it so far.
I have synced my LIFX lights and can turn them on and off by voice command from my lounge room where the hub is situated.
I can easily get the weather forecast just by talking to it. I no longer need to pick up a device and search, Google Home Hub does this for me.
So for the Google Home Hub is a winner for me !

Great Start for Google Ecosystem in a Smart Home
This is my first smart home device I purchased. It comes with a voice command, decent size display, and not-too-bad sound. I think Google Assistant is smarter than other assistants in the current market. I am quite happy with the purchase.

Makes life so much easier
I primarily use it to control my smart home products (which are increasing by the day). Performance and reliability are excellent. Google AI and continued conversation are what make it much better than other smart home ecosystems. Addition of screen makes it much easier to see what Google understood. Without the screen, it could sometimes be frustrating, but not anymore.
Screen also works as an excellent photo frame and a bed side clock when needed.
Only downside is, it is making me even lazier, now I want everything to be done by voice.

I love it
Google Home is great when you have smart home automation in mind. I can control my lights and TV just by my voice, screen quality is good enough for displaying photos or youtube videos. My favourite is at night when it is black in the room, the google home only displays a large time which does not create much light but allows me to know the time. A secret feature many will love
