Was ok , for about 6 months
The green adhesive pad on mine has turned into a slimy soft gel after 6 months use. It started to get softer and leave Sticky film on the back of the phone, which was annoying when you had to put your phone in your pocket, fluff would stick to the back of the phone.
I bought my first one 2 years ago, it was great, worked perfectly. It deteriorated over time in the sun, so Ive replaced as needed. In the last 6 Months the suction cups just don't stay on the windscreen. My GPS will, but these won't, no matter how clean it is or which part of the screen it's on.
I have 2 brand new ones which are doing this now.
The green stick pad is also not as good quality as the first ones I bought
I have to start by saying that consumers are stupid. All the negative comments here are due to people not having any common sense.
Yes! The suction cup sticks to the windshield *very well*! If yours is falling off, guess what? Your windshield is dirty! Learn how to clean glass. It really isn't that hard. Don't use your laziness as a way to blame others and claim warranty. Clean your windshield properly! If you use your GPS with the suction cup that came with it, it'll likely fall off too because your windshield is dirty!
The green pad is...super sticky! I'd like to say *too* sticky, but after you learn your trick to remove your device, it's not so bad. You do have to use *both* hands. For this reason, I only *place* my phone on it, not put it on and rub it in. Still, I need to use both hands. From time to time, the green pad does get dirty, and you'll need to take it inside to wash. Takes no time at all! You also have to remember that your phone should be clean too, otherwise the goo sticks to the dirt on your phone and not your phone itself. Common sense guys...common sense. The goo sticks better to flat surfaces and not as good for textured...because there's less surface area to stick to. Again, common sense. I've only had one product that this didn't stick well to and I used a lot of devices.
Surprised by all the other reviews.
I've found it very sturdy and sticky for phones with flat backs. Not so good for textured phones.
Still going strong for more than 2 years.
I like the solid arm mount too. Much better than those flexi arms which tend to break over time.
Havent had any problems, the surface size could be smaller as it is somewhat of a nuisance to remove my note 3. They should include a replacement or offer replacement goo stickers as ive read that in time it starts to break down.
G8 Till You Try To Use It In An Aussie Summer!
I got 2x, 1x still in its box. Mine worked well for a few months but then when it started to heat up, the pad turned to mush. Started taking bits off my phone cover. Tried cleaning pad but only got worse. Now when you use it it leaves residue on my phone cover and bits of my phone cover in the pad. Not happy..but no online and or other support to lodge claim and or complaint.
When it was new it worked well
After a couple of months use and change in weather (heated up) the green pad became soft and squishy.
We got the two for one deal. The one in my wifes car worked well but the one for my car wouldn't stick to the windscreen. It would only stay on for less than two days at a time then with the weight of the phone, it would fall off the windscreen. I thought about returning it but eventually I decided to fix it to the windscreen with a small amount of silicone. It is now a permanent fixture to my windscreen. Providing the green section is kept clean it works well now.
Fits every type of phone.
Suction cap didn't work.
I received this item a short while ago. 2 gripgo's from eBay for less then $20 combined.
I tested this bad boy as soon as it arrived, and boy was I impressed.
The suction cup is sturdy and can support my samsung galaxy s3 without any issue at all. The green sticky suction cup bit adhears to my phone like superglue. (I was able to lift my befside table with just the green bit, without it disconnecting)
Which can be an issue, but once you refine your technique, you won't have any issues disconnecting. If anything, this is a huge plus in my ...
Have used this for months, holds my iPad without falling off on our [censored word removed] roads. Just got to make sure you get the real deal not the cheap rip offs. The suction cap needs to be wet for it to stick properly but that's like most caps these days. Great product and would easily recommend.
Gripped my iPad no problem
Just as advertised!
I was dubious, but since my Shamwow works as advertised, and the stupid Schticky, I thought for a few bucks I couldn't lose. Straight out of the box the suction cup with the breather holes was impressive and sturdy. I've had FOUR cheap phone holders melt and deform to the point where the suction cup didn't work at all anymore, but this design appears to get around that problem.. time will tell.
I tested the grip before mounting it, and my stock iPhone 4 stuck to it, I shook it, and it stayed there. I pulled it off with minimal effort and i'm g...
Lasted about long enough to not get a refund...
It was a great idea. We have different phones so a model specific cradle was out and the GripGo promised to stick like glue.
I paid $40 - plus shipping - to "buy-one-get-one-free" from GlobalShop.com.au. Of course, I then waited around 12 week for delivery as they were out of stock (probably because they were sending it all to the Big W).
A lot of people have complained that the suction cup wouldn't stick. This I didn't experience - my 2 GripGo's were easily fitted to the windscreen's of both of our cars and held firm. What I did find was t...hat the "elbow" joint was very poorly made. On on unit it repeatedly came loose and on the other it just wouldn't tighten. I couldn't face another 12 week wait for a replacement or refund so I simply found a suitable position and glued the joint - locking it in place permanently. The universal joint on the actual phone holding plate is a simple ball joint located in a plastic socket, tensioned by a C-clip. This is only just strong enough to hold an average smartphone in position. Any larger device (such as a GPS) will probably not remain firm for long. The "revolutionary" phone holding plate is very sticky - for a little while. It pulls the back off your phone if you aren't careful and requires two hands to carefully remove the device. Very quickly it transitions to that perfect stickiness but sadly this only lasted for a couple of short trips and just as quickly I found myself constantly scrabbling around in the drivers foot-well to find my $700 smartphone before it got crushed underfoot. I have yet to successfully "clean" the pad as directed but maybe I will have some success when I have more time.
It really grips and off you go...
...this is a really good cradle. It does what it promises and the arm is very flexible in all directions. There is no problem with the suction to the windscreen (like with some other products, where the suction cap cannot hold the device) and the surface, that holds the mobile phone, is incredibly strong. I bought one and got the second one free and my partner, who is traveling long distances, constantly needs a proper, functioning, reliable mobile phone cradle. He is amazed at this product. So, thumbs up from us....
a product, that really works
Questions & Answers
How do I make the green surface it sticky again?
Mine and my partners sticky pad is so sticky it cannot be used.. I have cleaned them with no success... How do I fix this?
Throw it out...that's what I did as it became useless and left do much residue in my phone...
This is a very bad product, I bought two, both are now in the bin. there are good phone holders out there online that give you value for your money, and have better solutions than that horrible stick pad, give GRIPGO a BIG MISS. Good luck C.J
It would seem that there is no easy way to contact the company directly for warranty. Other than contacting a reseller, is there a phone or email contact in Australia? Our 2 gripgos, have a manufacturing defect, the green sticky film has not been applied flat, causing a ridge in the centre, thus making the phone to slightly stand away from the surface. One is better than the other and sticks quite well for an hour or so, the other, is only minutes, if that. This may be the cause of other peoples problems...? i would like to try the direct distributor for replacement, rather than going through an on line shop, with little success.
I purchased mine from Global Shop Direct and that is where I have returned them for a refund. I called them after having no luck with the on-line chat. Not sure who the distributer is if not them - sorry.
Hi Bevan, so far I haven't had much luck in contacting the online seller, so trying other methods of contact. Bit of a pity there is a problem, my step daughter and husband find them very good and we compared them, the green surface on theirs are perfectly flat, ours arn't.
Being made in China, I think the quality control has a lot to be desired. I also think that as there is so many comments, either very good or very bad, that this surface problem is probably the main problem. Also, the screen cleanliness seems to have a lot to do with the suction to the screen. Our same unit, sticks really well to one of our cars, and falls off the screen if it is slightly dirty, or has that "haze" that screens seem to get after a while. Comes off easy with window cleaner.
Anyway, back to contacting the supplier.
