Incompetent and slow service provided for online return
It took 4 business days since the status changed to “Reviewing” for a message to be received for myself to action. This is extremely slow service. Then I end up going in to this endless spiral of questions and answers due to your agent seeming to lack English comprehension or having no idea of what they are doing.
I really question the competency and fit for purpose nature of the agent that reviewed my tax return.
The service was extremely slow to begin with, and then dealt with someone who probably shouldn’t be doing that line of work. Overall...
I used this service for the first time this year. Online tax return with expert. First I was told 99 dollars, final cost 139. Whatever I just paid it. Then he told me it was finished and to review. I looked over and my private health insurance wasn't included so I told him even though I send through relevant documents. After that he said he lodged it. I was like okay thanks. I contacted him later on and asked if it had been done because it still claims that I have to lodge he said he did. Family members all finalised there's and friends also 4 ...people in total and submitted after me and recieved before my status even changed. I then contacted the ATO direct on live chat where he stated he never recieved anything from myself nor tax agent. So almost 2 weeks wasted. I then recieved a follow up question asking for the % of which I used certain things for business. This was all in the question summary at the start. Clearly it was never lodged. Might be a once off but very unhappy and will be going elsewhere for now on.. just wanted to tell others to make sure it has been lodged and all relevant information was provided before hitting the approved button...
Poor service, unreliable, unprofessional.
Do not use this firm - go to a real accountant. One that will actually attend a scheduled appointment or at least call back when you follow up with them as to why they were a now show
Agent did not show up on appointment
Booked a phone appointment through email for a tax return with Ash for 02-July-2021 12PM and agent did not show up. Called the office to check on what's going on and office admin said that nothing was booked for this date and time and dodged my question when I asked for a specific reason on why nothing was booked.
I want to believe that H&R Block is good (Judging from the good positive reviews) but how in the world did this happened.....
Absolutely horrific. Avoid if you can. Lodged online with communicating via a chat function. No correspondence in over 24 hours, continually asking the same questions that were already submitted as if speaking to a bot. Can’t speak to anyone because they’re not answering. I want my money back!
Block by name, block by nature
Absolutely impossible to get hold of. Offices only open for limited hours. No receptionists, so if all the accountants are with clients (or out of the office) then phone calls bounce back to a national H&R Block phone service. They offer to take a message and pass it to the relevant office, but cannot guarantee that anyone will ring you back???!!! They will not give out individual email addresses for the accountants so there is no way to contact them directly. Only a general office email address which may or may not get checked (their words!)...and who wants to email a personal tax query to a general email address that could be read by anyone anyway?! I don't know why in this days and age, communication with an accountant has to be so complicated. Much better off going to a business where you can ring or email your accountant direct and actually have a relationship with them without having to make an appointment just to have a brief conversation.
I attended an appointment at Gosford's H&R Block office in February 2021. After delivering my private details, I have been chasing the agent since then with many phone calls but he remains unresponsive.
His offsider rang me 2 weeks ago and said he had been sick but they would get back to me.
I again rang yesterday and was promised a callback by 7pm.
I would like to know why I have been put on the backburner and if my tax affairs are too difficult for this agent, then I would like to know and I'll move on.
I need to get my affairs in order and this is causing me much stress and time wasting. I went to the Gosford office yesterday but it remained closed.
Late Return - No Response and No Assistance
Used HR Block Online Tax Advisor service - the HR Block staff member assured me the return would be completed on time and so I left the matter with them. The return is now 2 days late and I still have not received a response from the HR Block advisor and may now face penalties from the ATO. Terrible Service.
Unauthorised direct debit
I completed my tax return in July last year and have just had two unauthorised direct debit payments coming out of my account and overdrawing it twice. Stay away from H&R Block. They’ll take unauthorised payments from your account.
Yes they're cheap, and yes you get what you pay for.
Dont reply to emails until after you chase them a few times. Ultimately took almost six months to sort my return AFTER I had done all the calculation for them. Will be using someone else next year.
Unrealiable, lack of responses and completely ignoring emails and calls
I have been going to H&R Block for many years now and have actually recommended a few people to seek advise from H&R block accountants for help with their tax returns.
For the past few years, all have been good with my returns and I have been satisfied with the level of service I have received. This year though, I had opted to go with H&R Block on Lonsdale Street as I had trust in their professionalism and expertise in this field. However, there were issues with my tax return as my returns had not taken into account of my medicare exemption e...ven when the exemption letter from the DHHS had been provided. So, I'd sent am initial email on 4/11 to enquire what has happened with my returns. I was told that it will take 28 days for any answer from the ATO. Fair enough, I followed up again on 3/12 but received an unsatisfactory answer that a call would be made to enquire a time frame of the escalation period. I then asked again for an update in the first and second week of December but have received no responses at all. Calls and emails were made but I have heard nothing since. It also did not help that it took nearly two weeks to upload my tax to the ATO which was poor in my opinion. I am sure tax accountants from different branches of H&R block would have been a lot more understanding of my plight and based on previous experiences, have been prompt with their responses and even the submission of my tax. I am at a loss for words as to who to contact or to escalate this issue to as there are no avenues to escalate poor service with H&R block itself.
You can't rely on H&R Block for anything important
I Have used H&R Block for a few years. Overall the service has been fine but I have repeatedly found that you can't rely on your emails being read or responded to or getting advice in an urgent or important situation. I reached the decision I need a full service accountant.
I would have complained directly to H&R Block but there is no means of contacting a manager about a complaint! You used to be able to send an email to the head office at Thornleigh but this option is no longer available. This says a lot about the business and how they vi...
Strongly advise not to use karingal branch
Took 7 weeks to do 7years tax return , they give you false information on there duties as tax agents and struggle to return calls when asked to contact client, worst experience ever had with accountants, was in financial difficulties at the time and needed it done straight away to save my home as corona put me out of work, due to hr block I lost my home as they told me it would be done straight away, there was no reason it took so long, I started the process end of September and got my refund on n November, first they told me the would deduct...there fees from my refund then they said they couldn’t, I then borrowed funds to get them done and stilll took 6 weeks to receive refund, funny thing is when you pay up front it’s meant to go straight to you but yet it got paid to them and had to wait for them to get and more days fir them to disperse, this was the worst experience and has made me and my family suffer, if your doing your tax and need it ASAP and like to be able to speak to your agent without booking in 3 day’s in advance to speak to them I strongly advise to go elsewhere
Avoid if you can
H&R is actually absolutely useless. they are no accountants. what they do is exactly the same as you can do much more easily. Most information as to income, salary, interest is already pre-filled on the ATO website. anything else the client needs to calculate and provide to H&R. so you might as well input it yourself as there is nothing H&R do. if there is any calculation that is required they are unable to do. For eg. as capital gains or loss the staff including branch managers have no clue about it. They keep coming back to the client asking ...for clues. For over two months, with over half a dozen change of appointments the manager finally gave up telling me she does not know how to do the return. I finally completed the two returns myself saving $500 I would have paid. So unless you are a completely uneducated, d it yourself and safe the hassle. I was a client for many years, but with a change of manager things just went downhill. I wish I had such a cushy job.
2 appts booked - 1st one late so I rescheduled. 2nd time - no show. I called to find out and was told that these things happen and it's a bit like waiting in the doctors surgery. I can't believe that analogy was used but it just shows that they absolutely don't care. Last time I did my tax return with them, I hadn't received my refund so I called back to find they hadn't even submitted it. They said they had questions which I had answered in the appointment that I took time off work to go to! Didn't inform me or let me know as though I'm psychic. Very poor. I won't even call it a service

why have they asked me to set up multiple client portals, when i wasnt happy with the original quote i said im getting a second opinion but still using a H & R consultant they said i need to set up another one, does this sound correct.
Hi Mick, our apologies that you were asked of this. The client portal are setup at office level. So each office has their own client portal hence the reason you have been asked to setup another one.
