best shop ever
Harris always has what I want. Happy friendly staff, Always happy to go find anything that is not on the shelf. Even swapped recipes with one of the staff who asked me what I do with some of the Asian products I was buying. Genuinely interested. The cleanliness of the shop is very important to me, so it is with pleasure that I shop there.
Friendly service and good range but room for improvement
I think Harris Farm do a great job of making a large number of produce and other items available; you can order/source if they are not in store. However, I think there is room for improvement for each store to have its own identity to show passion in supporting local produce. There is no need to have garlic from Argentina in-store if there is local garlic available from Orange, even if there is a price difference it's good to give the customer a choice. There are a number of produce items that could be sourced locally from Orange region and are...not. Also, I am very disappointed to see that Harris Farm sells items like barbecue sauce which is clearly from USA and has high fructose corn syrup as the first ingredient!! This is the devil as far as health goes and I'm not sure the average consumer would notice yet it isn't even legally allowed in food production here in Australia because it's so harmful. Big Rays or something to that effect was the brand. I've also noticed that many times the refrigerated section is not as cold as it should be for cheeses and meat products so this is a concern. Thanks
Good fresh produce, mostly fantastic customer service
Last time I shopped at our local Harris store with my toddler and newborn, I was very impressed with a lovely young man who was an employee. He asked if I needed assistance and when noticing I was having trouble ripping the plastic bags off one-handed for my items, he pulled a number of them off for me and tucked them into the trolley for me. I also love that I can give my toddler a free piece of fruit to keep him busy while I shop! Fruit and veg are always quite fresh and keep well, although the squashes I bought at this particular time which ...I cooked the following day had a funny off taste and I had to throw them all out which was disappointing. I do enjoy shopping where the checkout staff are friendly towards customers and the staff are usually friendly enough, but last time the young man there greeted me but didn't really appear like he wanted to be there.
Purchased a prepackaged kumato tomato pack yesterday and put in fridge when got home. Lunch time today, feeling like bruschetta and oh wait ...you can't have it because the tomatoes you got yesterday are wrinkled and mouldy. Thanks HF....
I am starving AND peed off...
