Harris Scarfes is always good for a bargain around sale time. I recently picked up a stainless steel cutlery set for over half price off. You can find some decent clothes there if you pick through it, they are also very cheap in the sales. Return policy not as good as other department stores. The stores are not neat and tidy. I find them to be a bit disorganised as if they are trying to fit a lot of stock into a small place.
Their return policy is no where near as good as Myer or Target. Myer allow you to return things in 'a r...
Overall a good store to shop in, but don't expect staff to be eager to help you when they see you. If needed they will generally be pretty helpful. But you need to approach/find them.
Register service is great, but staff on the floor do not ask customers if they need help. The stock is well priced and shelves are usually full. There are constant sales and prices are clear. New stock always arriving.
Quite difficult to get someone to help out on the floor with products. Hard to find advertised stock in catalogues, and it's quite messy most of the time.
Although Harris Scarfe do offer a variety of product, i find their overpricing tarnishes their reputation. Do they think we're stupid?
Great selection of products to chose from
Very disloyal in their mark up on prices. Original V slicer advertised as being on sale - original price $149.99 down to $89.00. Target sell the same product for $45.oo. Disgraceful overpricing. Makes me wonder how many other items they mark up.
The product seems not very fashionable for clothes and manchester. For electronic product, ususally you won't find the new products available in other big stores are available here. The brand of many products are also seems only available in this store, therefore lack of comparsion of the quality and price.
Location of some of the stores in Canberra is convenient. The price is cheap when certain items in on special.
When items (particularly good product that the same brand is comparable at other big stores)are on special, usually they are not availalbe even if you are there at the store pretty early. A bit disappointed.
Mostly a handy to where I live, that is Moonah store, occasionally visiting your Hobart store, as above your service is as I say goes highly recomended. Pricing is affordable, quality always. Even when Ive been to Adelaide, it is excellent.
Have found in mens clothing, QUALITY that is best, service always friendly. Staff are most helpful.
Removal of The Cafe from Harris Scarfe in Hobart, it was a place where to meet, and have a coffee or a meal or both.
i visited the TRARALGON store a few weeks ago and found the manager there to be extremley rude and "matter-of-fact". When i asked for a product that was in the catalouge the young girl tried her very best to find it but then said she'd "ask [name censored]", who i assumed is the manager. When [name censored] finally came she brushed me off saying they had sold out. i then asked if they would be getting me more in and she said she didnt know. no sorry or anything. after she left the young girl told me that i could order it through laybuy, which ...i thought was very helpful. ive spoken to other shoppers and they have had the same problem with the same manager. How can harris scarfe expect their floor staff to be any good when the manager wont come down off her high horse and display proper customer service? i thank the young girl for doing her best(i forget her name. sorry!) but i advise that [name censored] definitley change her attitude. i personally wont deal with her again and i know plenty of others who feel the same. good quality specials. rude management.
Harris scarfe has always been a great store I have shopped with them for many years never had a problem of any kind their sales are great I buy almost all my kitchen ware there when there is a sale on savings are great also manchester carry some top brands of towels and bed linen also pillows once again wait for a sale they discount down really well staff over all have been very helpful and friendly like anywhere you occasionally will come across somebody having a bad day but guess if we are to be honest we all have them.
location ...good sales
I was in the store today 05/04/08, and at the registers i queried a price due to the confusing natures of signage. Needless to say they didnt honour it! An older staff member [name censored] was standing closeby so I made a comment about unfair signage and she agreed! I mean it was nice to have someone to agree with me but if the staff dont believe in the business that says very little about the company morale.
Great product range.
Confusing signs, lack of staff.
I find Harris Scarfe is a great place to shop. The staff are very friendly and are always willing to give you a helping hand. They have great sales every single week. You can always trust Harris Scarfe to have great brands at a low price. Never once have i left a Harris Scarfe store without a great bargain!Harris Scarfe is quite understaffed, and i belive if there were just a few more staff in each department, the store would be even better than it is now. I often hear customers complaining about incorrect sale signs, but i have noticed that th...e signs are almost always correct. The signs are clear, people just need to read them properly. Also, i often hear customers complaining about not being happy with the return policy. They offer a 14 day refund policy if you just change your mind...which i think is great. They do not refund pillows, quilts etc. but that is understandable due to hygiene reasons. It is understandable that you can't return a product without a reciept. Customers need a reciept to prove that it was even purchased at Harris Scarfe, or so staff know how much it cost and the time of purchase. Friendly staff. Great sales. Good quality products Understaffed Do not offer rainchecks Do not hold stock
Harris Scarfe may need to look at what qualifactions the floor staff have so as to present the store and its products in a professional and acceptable manner Staff need to be qualified and have at least a basic understanding of customer service and basic knowledge on how to set out products correctly so as to not mislead consumers. Management may want to employ someone with at least a Cert IV in customer service. Also would like to know when Harris Scarfe received a liquor license?? Staff need to be trained to identify what wine/champapne bot...tles look like as they seem to have problems identifying the type of products sold in Harris Scarfe Are there any? Does not set out products and price signs correctly to relate to that partiuclar product. Items advertised in catalogues are not display, & wrong items displayed alongside price cards
It was a pleasure to shop there and even though not close to my house, was worth the extra drive.
I will definitely go there again if my local Harris Scarfe does not stock sale items.
I thought the shop in Cranbourne was very well set ou particularly for a busy sale. The staff were helpful and happy in their job. Compared to other Harris Scarfe shops this shop was a pleasure to shop at. It was a fantastic sale and I saved sevral hundreds of dollars.
Some of the aisles were narrow particularly in crockery which made it dificult to manoeuvre a trolley and possible mishaps could happen with children.
I would say that Harris Scarfe sits somewhere between a Target and a Myer. They have some products that both other stores stock. The prices are very reasonable to start off with which makes the big sales worth going to because there are genuine markdowns on already reasonable prices. I hear that Myer is acquiring the Harris Scarfe stores, i just hope they learn a thing or too from them about customer service before they acquire them and get rid of the staff!
