Harvey Norman has been our go-to appliance retailer and we are in the process of a large renovation and need to purchase all new kitchen appliances. With a budget of $10,000 just for our appliances, we have decided to eliminate Harvey Norman from our list of options because they have taken 22 million in Australian's taxpayers money whilst making a $178 million profit in just two months. I hope other people also decide to boycott Harvey Norman. You have lost us as customers Harvey Norman
Waiting for repair or replacement of cordless vacuum cleaner Vax Blade II for 4 weeks. Terrible service at Harvey Norman Liverpool. Never walk to the shop again.
My mum was shopping around for a new washing machine and decided this was the place to get it. She’s bought her precious washing machine from here so she was a returning customer. She’d decided on the product and went to pay for it. The checkout person didn’t explain their delivery options or services available, as they have (for both mum’s previous purchase, as well as my own in the past). Anyway, she had her machine delivered, the delivery guys didn’t set it up (not their fault, mum hadn’t organised it despite asking for it be included at the...additional cost). She had so many issues trying to set it up so she returned to Harvey Norman in Fyshwick, ACT to ask for assistance. I went along with her. The gentleman who “greeted” us was an absolute joke, completely unprofessional. He questioned why my mum wasn’t able to set up something simple like a washing machine, why she couldn’t follow the instructions manual etc. when I pointed out that my mum barely speaks English, relying on staff to help her he turned to me and said that’s not his problem she can’t speak English. Another older gentleman came over and helped us, giving us a demo on how to put it together, eventually organising for a technician to come out to set it up for my mum. We are forever grateful to the older gentleman for his kindness and patience. Unfortunately, the younger douche’s attitude was a bitter experience so we’ll never, EVER return to a Harvey Norman store again. If you’re a person of colour/immigrant looking for great customer service you can’t go wrong with small, local businesses! Support local businesses who genuinely want to help you and want your patronage
non existent service, overpriced
Out of stock item bought,no indication it was out of stock. no way to get snswers or abiliry to cancel. generally foubd over priced and poor service in stores as well
Over priced, go elsewhere.
We recently kitted out a new kitchen with a new cooktop, oven, dishwasher and range hood and Harvey Norman could not come close to price and service from their competitors on the same brands. They are completely out of touch with their market and I can't see any reason that someone should shop here.
mother purchased a dryer from a harvey normal store. She was informed by staff that if she did not purchase a surge protector that the warranty of the product would no longer be valid and that continuing without buying this item there would be no warranty. However under consumer law this is not in guidelines of a manufacturers warranty. The dryer comes with a 24 month warranty and the staff cannot be claiming to consumers that unless they buy an extra item that is not part of the manufacturing warranty that it will be voided.

Parts of sink missing when plumber turned up to instal new sink bought from Harvey Norman.
Complained and Harvey Norman gave me wrong parts to get me out of the shop.
Had to go to Reece to get parts to finish job.
Very bad service.
Did not care about rectifying problem.
The worst customer service
False promises. No good customer service.
I was told I was going to get a full refund but due to paying with a gift voucher, I was given credit.
Rather than giving me cash or given me the refund using a different card.
PURCHASED TV THAT DIDN’T WORK
$2,800 on TV Harvey Norman Mt Barker. Took it back next morning and said “it’s got a smashed screen when taken out of box”. REFUSED refund or exchange. LEFT PRODUCT IN STORE. Told it was my fault and refused to do anything “TO BAD TO SAD”!!! Don’t ever buy product from this shonky store!! Waste of money. No resolution even attempted
Bought a small electronics item, realized I already had one at home, went to return with receipt, unused, Harvey Norman Hobart would not return the item stating that they do not return for “change of mind”. Appalling customer service for a huge chain corporation, will never shop there again (not that they care).
Dishonest and devious
I bought a microwave in store after pricing online. It was advertised at $299, but when paying I was going to be charged $349. When I queried the discrepancy the assistant was flustered and couldn’t tell me, so went to check. After a few minutes checking online and pointing at the screen a second person summoned what I assume was a manager, who said it was their optional $50 Product Care Plan, which entitled me to a replacement if it was faulty. Two problems here: firstly, if it’s an option, should I not have been offered it instead of trying t...o casually slide it through? Secondly, they would have to do this anyway. It’s national Consumer Law that anything they sell must be fit for purpose or they MUST replace it. A nice little $50 bonus for them if the consumer doesn’t know better. I suspect this works all too often with elderly customers who are too trusting. I’ve had a few issues with HN over the years, but I find this very dishonest and I won’t ever shop there again.
Pass the buck...
Purchased all appliances for a new house i was building in June 2020 from Harvey Norman Caringbah.
Following delivery & installation in October 2020 I realized our Ilve freestanding oven was faulty and notified HN. Issues included steam exiting the oven when in use creating a safety issues as well as condensation pooling on floor below oven. The oven door was clearly faulty.
Initially a 3rd party technician was sent out and they replaced the door seal in December 2020 - 3 weeks after notification. This failed to fix the steam issue.
A new...door section was then ordered and we were told it would be a number of months before it would be available in March 2021... After complaining about the time to rectify the issue, miraculously a new door & replacement hinges arrived in January 2021, however the door was stainless and my oven is Matt black...
Non-existent customer service.
Purchased a tv hisense that was found to be damaged when it was first turned on. We were fobbed off over the phone and then in store. Harvey Norman won’t take responsibility for the selling a damaged product.
Money hungry grubs
Happy to take your money, but when you get a damaged TV out of the box they won't do a thing about it.
I bought this iRobot vacuum for $1700 from HN. That evening I found out Cosco has the same product for $1460 in stock. I went to request for refund but they gave me a $150 store voucher. When asked them to match the Cosco price, they just wouldn’t care. I still can’t understand why they gave me the store credit and also $100 less. I did not want to have an argument in the store. I request for the $100 credit please. When you claim you match the prices, you have to stand by it and not take people for granted.
