Unethical marketing of Product Care
I was convinced to buy Product Care claiming that you can just come back within the warranty period and replace it for another product of a similar price or pay the difference for a higher value product. It seemed too good to be true. But because I was a regular at this shop, I trusted the guy and paid for it. On going through the terms and conditions at home much later, I realized that I was tricked. Searched for reviews online and realized that I should have done my research rather than just trusting someone I've had good interactions with during my earlier purchases. Feeling duped. :(
Harvey Norman do not live up to their obligations under consumer law
My recent purchase of a faulty Dyson product was very poorly handled. I tried to return the product immediately after purchase but they fobbed me off, saying it wasn’t their problem and that I would have to deal direct with Dyson in a lengthy, painful process to obtain a replacement.
Emboldened by a friend who confirmed my view that Harvey Norman needed to deal with it and that they couldn’t shirk their responsibilities under consumer law, I went back there and firmly (but very politely!) demanded they deal with it. It was awkward, they were r...ude, they attempted to fob me off again and acted like I was the most painful person in the world, but I stood my ground. I got my exchange but they were very ungracious and nasty about it. I have had faulty purchases from Harvey Norman before which have been dealt with better than this - but after 3x recent experiences it’s now enough for me that I don’t trust the quality of their stock anymore even from premium brands. I will avoid purchasing from Harvey Norman or Domayne ever again and will be happy to pay extra to shop elsewhere, I don’t care if HN has the best price.

Ordered Online but product SOLD before I got there for pick-up
I recently ordered a product online with next day in store pick-up. I received confirmation of the order and notification that it was ready to pick -up. I even rang the store beforehand to check the item was there for pick-up and told it was available. Since we were travelling several hours to get to the store I was a bit paranoid. With good reason. The item was not there when we arrived - it had been SOLD. Unfortunately the system that stops the last one being sold did not work on this occasion! Kudos to the salesperson who dealt with the situation professionally but Harvey Norman needs to have more reliable systems in place. Would give no stars if possible.
Terrible Service in store
Retail staff provides zero information about additional fees included in the delivery/installation of home appliances. Promised everything to be included in the price. In reality once they obtain your credit card details they ignore you forever.
Stay away from Harvey Norman.

Haier Washing Machine
Purchased a Haier washing machine a day before and it's giving error, called the manufacturer and they are Ok to get a replacement, but for that Harvey Norman Broadmeadows store needs to call them, called the store couple of times and they said they will get back to me shortly, and no one has contacted yet.
Terrible Service by Passive Aggressive Harvey Norman Staff Member
Went into Harvey Norman - Marion SA to buy a small appliance on 26.11.19. Firstly I had to wait while a clutch of staff members chatted amongst them selves. Then the young woman who "helped" was Passive Aggressive and unhelpful. Harvey Norman you need to train your staff
not good customer service.
Some problems with their customer service. Sold a faulty aircon to me and not ready to take it back the next day. and salesman talks in unfriendly language. More focused on money.
Absolutely appalling customer service at Armadale WA when asking for a refund. I know about their refund policy but there's a genuine reason why I asked. They would not listen to reason & I walked out with a store credit which is useless to me. Their staff need to be educated on customer service
Worst attitude ever
So I spend $4500 on ASKO washing machine and dryer in July 2019. Since then washing machine broke down in September now dryer is not working. I understand under warranty but when I rang Bundall store this morning and spoke to the salesperson who I purchased from (and spent much time with as I wanted the best)
simply had the attitude of and I quote ...What do you want me to do about it ...for a company who prides themselves on service I was shocked a good morning sorry to hear that might have gone down just a little better...not happy Jan $4500 is a lot of money in my house and I am bitterly disappointed.
Never again, contractor recommended tried ripping elderly parents off! Store took no responsibility. Very, very bad
Never again, contractor recommended By HN to fit Airconditioning tried ripping elderly parents off asking them to pay extra for installation. Then saying that they needed extra parts when they didnt. When it became obvious that they were not going to get extra money off them messed up circuit board so new oven didnt work anymore. When we rang back the contractor he said he can fix it but we would have to pay $170 call out fee??? Rang HN who didnt give a dam. Said it was nothing to do with them speak to contractor. Terrible customer service! Never again
Sold non compliant oven/ bad customer service
We purchased an ILVE free standing duel from Harvey Norman and had it insalled on 19/11/19 which we know was floor stock however it was delivered as not being compliant as it had a 10amp power cord attached for the electric oven component. When we turned on the oven for the first time the thermostat would not work so we rang the ILve service team and they arranged a service technician to inspect the oven ,the thermostat was fixed but the technician from CE Electrics GOld Coast said he would give the oven a once over as it had just been insalled..., he advised us that the power cord was a 10amp plug but the oven need a 15amp plug and if we continued to use the oven would have burn out, and that this also would void warranty as the power cord should have been removed before it left the store so that it could be hard wired . Spoke with the sales person who sold us the oven at Harvey Norman at Bundall , who passed the buck stating it was the responsibility of the our electrician . Harvey Norman took no responsibility for the non compliant oven and only after advising them that we had spoken to Consumer Affairs that they decided to send their electrician to hard wire it. We spoke with our own electrician and he advised he would hard wire it for us. This is the second time that we have had to contact Consumer Affairs with regard to damaged goods or non compliant items. These purchases were large ticket items. My beef is that had the thermostat been functioning on our oven we would never have know the power point was not compliant, I did upon the purchase of the oven ask the Sales person if the Ilve oven was Australian complant being a ILVE oven made overseas and she said YES it was , well really it was not. We are no longer customers of HARVEY NORMAN as they once again take no responsibility to faulty or defective items. Once more customer lost
Very unfriendly customer service especially at the counter
Very unfriendly customer service at the cash counter. Not ready to help at all. They do not value customers who buy small items. Not happy at all. Will not go there again

Phillips Coffee machine
This review is more about the attitude of Harvey Norman as opposed to the machine. I purchased the new Phillips/Lor machine to enable me to make two cups of coffee at the same time as advertised. When I got home I discovered that the machine will not fit my cusps they are wide at the top. I am not going to purchase a whole new set of cups just to fit one single application. I took the machine back to Harvey Norman and their attitude was nothing short of disgusting. First the sales person examined the issue, then a second salesperson had a look ...then the most arrogant (expletive deleted) Manager came and in no uncertain terms told me I was not entitled to a refund even though he agreed that the machine did fit my purpose but due to the fact that I didn't bring my whole dinner service into the shop prior to purchasing the machine I failed in my duty to examine the product to the fullest extent and therefore was not entitled to a refund. I advised this short minded person that over the years I have been a loyal Harvey Norman customer and have spent many thousands of dollars in various Harvey Norman stores. His reply, Oh well! My advice is don't shop at Harvey Norman, if you have an issue they will ignore you and walk away. No more Harvey Norman for me. Update: Store Management The Manager at Chirnside Park has a disgusting customer service attitude. I bought a product that when I got it home was clearly not suitable for it's intended use but when I asked for a refund I was told that as I did not bring my full dinner setting in with me and test it in store it was my fault and no refund would be authorised. All this for a machine worth $149 after a cash back, so the profit would be around $20. Harvey Norman must be doing it hard when a loyal customer of some twenty years, who has spent manny thousands of dollars with them can be simply cast away so flippantly. Good luck in the future I say you have just lost my business for the rest of my life and believe me I will be needing heaps of stuff but not a cent to Harvey Norman ever again.
Bad experience I will never spend a cents to this store
Completely useless, I hope people open their eyes, store like this should not exist.
35 days waiting for my coffee machine under warranty and when they decide to return to me a new coffee machine Harvey Norman decide saying our client prefers pickup in Wembley 90 km away, after one more week still at Wembley.
Very unprofessional. Never again walk in to this store and neither my family. Better Nextdoor GOOD GUYS .

Price Match disagreement
Had a really poor experience at HN Thomastown with their Small Appliances Manager that blatantly refused to honour their policy to price match. She insisted she would only match against a National franchise similar to HN and not against an online or state based retailer unless I included the delivery fee (which was still cheaper than HN). I insisted she complies with their Policy, which is an advertised price from a leading Aus retailer and I again showed her the price as proof. She again refused, but concede to match against Billy Guyatts -...which is an online store, completely in contradiction to what she initially said. (The other store is NSW based retailer with 4 stores and online store which makes them a leading Aus retailer). She entered the discount and told me that was the best she was prepared to do and walked off. I paid for the item, went home to speak with the online chat team. They confirmed her error and advised I now had to return to the same store along with the transcript to proof I was correct. A lot of stuffing around for $6 ($167 instead of $173, original price was $199) and after this transaction, I will never step foot in that store again.

Upset on the product and customer service
I bought a Kambrook Tower Fan from Harvey Norman Everton Park QLD store last November. I discovered there is stiff and squeaky noise when the fan oscillate. Initially the noise was very soft and it getting louder and louder. I bought the fan back to the store for a replacement. The staff test the fan at the store with such a noisy environment and she said she can not hear the noise. The noise will only getting louder and louder when it is running for a longer period of time. After running the fan for 10 minutes, finally she can hear a very soft...noise in the noisy store. However she refused to replace the faulty fan that I have purchased. She said this is normal. I brought back the fan and kept in my store room since then. I took it out again yesterday and feel very upset when I hear the stiff and squeaky noise from the fan again. I will not return and purchase anything from this store anymore.
Harvey Norman bungle- just wont honour the warranty
We bought an LG microwave from the Bundall store. Bear in mind that we are/were loyal HN customers and had also purchased a new fridge, washing machine, bed and some other kitchen appliances at the same time.
After about 11 months the microwave would intermittently just turn off and flash the 24hr symbol. Sometimes in the middle of the night, more annoying when you were half way through cooking and defrosting something. We took it to the store where a nice man explained that they didnt just replace them anymore, they sent it off to be repaired....
Never going there again. I know what to expect.
Terrible customer service. Visited a store in an Australian CBD. No greeting, no acknowledgement, nobody asked if I was being attended to. I was considering a major purchase but I won't from that store. I also submitted a formal complaint, the store manager did respond but I have yet to hear back. It may be lack of training, but staff need to be taught that customers pay their wages, and their job is to make customers happy, not annoying us.

Never buy electrical Harvey Norman Cairns
And dont buy an Ariston dishwasher. These just dont work, and if you want to bash your head against the Harvey Norman brick wall with zero customer service for greater than 3 months, go right ahead. The machine never worked from day 1, much like the guy who signs his email 2IC, Proprietor In Training. OMG someone should take this tool out the back of the warehouse and teach him some skills. Never spending another cent with this store, and thats after spending probably upward of $30k over the last 6 years
STAY 10 miles away from Harvynorman. No accountability, irresponsible, liars.
I bought most of my household appliances from the Harvynorman Dandenong store including delivery and installation service. They came and installed my fridge, dishwasher and washing machine (bosch). Everything was fine until I noticed swelling on the plasterboard near the Laundry area. House was built less than a year ago so I immediately called my builder Carlise Homes to come and inspect. An inspector from Carlise homes came immediately and after a thorough inspection, he found a leak in the washing machine connection. So I called my insurance...company and Bosch for farther investigation. Bosch technician inspected the connection and gave me a report where it clearly says, ""Aqua secure connected to hot tap & tape used not allowing full range of thread so not tight onto the O'ring, the technician had to replace the aqua hose and connected it to cold water tap as per installation manual, This is non manufacturing due to incorrect installation and caused damage to the aqua secure thread on securing nut"" So basically they connected it to hot water tap instead of cold water and used tape in a way that prevented the connection to be installed properly. So I sent the report to my insurance company hoping Harvey Norman would be responsible enough to take accountability for the wrong installation. after a couple of months passed, I called my insurance company and found out that my insurance company had to escalate this case to the court as the solicitor from Harvynorman thinks the house owner may have fiddled and reinstalled the washing machine incorrectly. I was like WHAT!!!. even someone with a tiny brain wouldn't say that. Why would I fiddle with it just after getting it installed by the paid professionals? I paid for the service so I would rather call them If I needed to. From my understanding, Harvey norman didn't even bother investigating or contacting/transferring the issue to their delivery contractors ( mind you they use external contractors, so technically they can easily pass over the responsibility to them) . But this solicitor really wants to fight back without any evidence or information from anywhere else just because in her mind the house owners in Australia have all the time in the world to fiddle with all the appliance just after getting installed by paid professionals. So I would never ever buy anything from them and highly recommend everyone else to stay away from them. I will keep you updated on what happens next.
