enquiring on a product i purchased that on using found the advertised functions listed on the packaging were not present on the device, all the time being spoken over by the young man i was explaining this to and being told no one else had a problem with it, in a very abrupt and hostile manner. that was end of story. no help at all only rudeness from what sounded like a very young person incapable of handling an enquiry about a product misinformation on packaging.
Air conditioner too small
Last year I saved up all my money to get an air conditioner installed... I wanted the bigger one as my house was sort of an open plan..
The lady asked for the measurements.. I told her and added there were no doors .. on the kitchen and hall way entries she said I wouldn't need the bigger one the smaller one would be plenty... I said your the expert and proceeded with the smaller unit ..
What a mistake... Not happy , paid a lot of money and it cannot cope with my loungeroom ..

Worst customer service ever. They only say that they can beat price, but they don’t to that. I got a laptop from Harvey norman MacBook pro 8gb ram which it was actually while selling was told will be 16 gbs, 512 storages for 2287, but officeworks had the MacBook pro 16gb ram and 512 storage at the cheaper price. I tried contacting the store persons, said that should be done within 14 days of purchase, but need to go the original store of purchase. Went there, salesperson agreed his mistake and told laptop will be replaced. Manager came and deni...ed claiming it to be customer’s fault. Moreover, while giving the laptop salesperson told it is an 11-generation laptop with 16 gb ram, which was actually a 8th generation, 8 gb ram laptop. And was told to be the customer’s fault. Would never recommend. Worst customer service.
Carefully weigh up the after-care plan offered
Salesperson attempted to sell me an aftercare plan for an additional 2 years for a laptop (on top of the standard one) for $350 and brought up a page showing that the expected life of the laptop battery is 2.5 years; what the salesperson didn't bring up from his online "research" findings was that the cost of the online battery is only around $90. Salespeople at HN are vey pushy on the aftercare plan and I am suspecting this is where their best margins are at. I'm also aware of retail margins and I do sincerely doubt the salesperson claim that the price I got for the laptop (77% of the retail price) was "below cost". I don't expect to get a product at below cost so why the need to lie?
Price Match Policy isn't really a policy.
Their price match policy or lack of is a moving target depending on who you talk to. The vagaries of their online price matching changes, to the point where one Salesman said they never priced matched online even after me showing him the policy on my phone.

I ordered 2 x apple air tags online for in store collection.
The email mentioned bring valid photo Id.
So i drive to the store present my email, show my drivers licence which i scanned to my phone.
No good, i might have doctored it was the rude reply.
I ask them to call my number, showed my passport on my phone, showed them myGov I’d. showed a credit card, asked them to check their store invoices for previous invoices, call my employer. All no good, i could have forged them all.
Just mindless staff on commission that love being rude to customers.
In the end i asked them to cancel the online order and bought them in store with the credit card they wouldn’t look at a minute beforehand.
Will never go back
Great customer service, it would be even better management if the different sections regularly updated all floor staff about products in each section.
I went into the QV store today to get the $149 it was on the shelf asked a sales person about it was told it's not in stock just wasted my day
How about taking it off the shelf never will be shopping here again
Disgusting customer service Horrible owners
After purchasing a new pc and printer I also paid for my old pc to get cleared, updated, and fixed all went well till pick up when the serviceman tripped and smashed my computer to pieces in front of me. Then I had to deal with Greedy horrible Harvey Norman Nowra computer section owner. He proceeded to offer me a used computer from his photo lab which had been decommissioned due to renovation and upgrade. After much debate back and forth he basically said like it or lump it, so I accepted his offer hoping it was in good faith, the first mistake.... We asked for some kind of in-store warranty the answer was no. To cut a long story short after turning it on twice and this was also during covid lockdown it blew up. I took it back to Harvey Norman Nowra it was assessed and if I was told if I wanted it repaired the owner said I would have to pay for the part the shipping and the repair. I have purchased a lot from this store and a lot from the computer section of this store I will never shop there again!

Their Customer Support if you’re buying something online is absolutely disgusting & appalling!! I will NEVER purchase anything from Harvey Norman EVER AGAIN!!

Deceptive, misleading & unconscionable conduct
In the course of purchasing a computer & other items (>$1000) at a store in Brisbane’s south, the salesman asked if I needed to review my Optus plan. I advised that I paid a total of $69 per month ($55 plan + $14 insurance). He advised that he could save me $10 per month & get me an extra 20GB, and I’d only pay $59 per month. I now find that I have been ‘signed up’ (I have never seen a written contract let alone signed one) to a $73 per month plan, because he very conveniently failed to tell me that the $59 per month & ‘saving’ of $10 per month...excluded the $14 insurance. I was clearly lied to & my attempts to hold both Harvey Norman (via Brad the store manager) & Optus (via Thomas the customer service expert in Adelaide) were met with ‘can’t’, ‘you need to’ & ‘it's not our fault’, even though several times during discussions with Brad of Harvey Norman he admitted that his salesperson had ‘stuffed up’, said he intended to ‘give him a big kick up the pants’ & agreed that the salesperson’s behaviour was ‘very naughty’. I am left out of pocket & left with no option but to spend even more time & energy fixing the serious ‘mistakes’ of those to whom I have paid considerable amounts of money recently & over the years. Absolutely disgusting conduct.
Sales staff too busy upselling wrong products and forgot to book installation. Charged $300!!!!
Possibly the worst and most frustrating customer service sales experience I've ever had. Purchased a TV, staff member so focused on upselling, sold me incorrect wall mount for the size TV. Booked installation, but because he was too busy upselling and imparting knowledge forgot to Submit install booking but told us it was confirmed! Waited all day for install guys, no show, called Harvey norman.... consequently had not been booked at all. Lost a day's contract income and work. Had to reschedule and lost another lot of income and work. Barely an...apology and still charged $300 for the install and inconvenience!! Don't try resolving because communication is poor and they don't care. Also don't buy a Samsung Smart TV, they switch on and off whenever they like! If you get a wall mount makes sure it's suitable to accommodate the inputs on tv.
Computer says No
Went to Harvey Norman Gympie qld to buy desktop pc and monitor, but when I tried to pay, they told me they would need my phone number. I told them I did not have it with me and don’t know my number. Then I could not believe what he said. He could not sell me the pc with out a phone number, I offered driving licence, Medicare card, credit card or cash and offered to go out to my car to get my passport and he still said no. I went and asked another member of staff if this was true or had that assistant had a malfunction and he said sorry I don’t work in that department. Maybe I had a lucky escape because we hadn’t even got to the warranty and surge protector.
Harvey Norman Maribyrnong - Disgusting Service
Never felt threatened in a retail store before. Been a loyal customer of Harvey Norman for 25 years and more recently in the past few months bought a Sony OLED, washing machine and Dyson vacuum cleaner.
Out of loyalty went into the Harvey Norman Maribyrnong store to buy some smaller electronics ($300 worth) knowing they would price match against competitors such as Officeworks under their advertised price guarantee and was meet with a barrage of excuses and reasons from different staff members not to honour it. Then asked to speak to manager ...and waited 15 minutes to be aggressively approached by him and later threatened in a persecuting manner that as we had already opened the box to inspect the goods we were buying, (Logitech keyboard) we had therefore already bought it at the full price” when we refused and decided to leave without a purchase. He threatened to get security using further verbal and physically intimidating tactics to purchase the items. As we began to leave he “escorted us out” like we criminals. Our upcoming intent to purchase a full Sonos home theatre system and sound bar and HP spectre laptop (about $6000-$7000 worth ) will be going elsewhere.
