Abusive Castle Hill store manager
Dishonest and abusive store manager at Castle Hill. Went in today to have a product price matched as per their policy. The store manager MICHAEL refused by saying it was out of stock in the local EB; it wasn't. His own staff member then corrected him, yet he still refused. I wanted to note this down and kindly to speak to head office to clarify. He completely overreacted and took offence and threatened to trespass me and call the police. Not wanting to honour your policy is one thing, but to act like a manchild and bully a customer with rude and threatening behaviour shows someone who is simply not fit to be dealing with people, let alone managing them.
Promise one thing deliver another
They promise price matching. Except when you present them with the opposition price the response is 'we don't match online pricing like officeworks'
Then state that in your advertising you don't

Taken advantage of
Saw a laptop I wanted. The list price was $1290... The salesman said he will give me "a deal" and give it to me at the price of $1,080. I accepted. Went home and noticed the price on their website was $980.. Almost $300 cheaper.. Not only that, they listed on the website a "Radeon Vega 6" yet it has a "Radeon Vega 3" graphics card.
Plus! I was charged $99 for an in-store labour fee - no labour was done!!
Very unhappy. After many years of spending thousands there, I will never go back.
No wonder retail stores are dying out
I waited 30 minutes with no service. It wasn’t busy. Not under staffed. Staff walking around and not wanting to move from their designated sections. Can’t sell in other departments. The structure of staff on the floor is outdated and does not work in current climate. Purchases would had totaled more than $1000 by myself but I chose to walk out after one staff member helped a man who had waited half the time I did. It gives me great pleasure knowing these stores, the incompetent staff and poor structure will soon be a thing of the past :)
Customer Service hahahahaha
Went to purchase a new laptop...what a joke ...we were the only customers in the store and we were totally ignored by the two staff members that I think worked there...well maybe not.
Pathetic customer service
This is regarding the Iphone 6S 32GB I wanted to purchase for my daughter. I tried for this phone in office works, Goodguys and other stores. Unfortunately this model is not available in many stores. I called up harvey norman Rothwell to check whether this phone is available in their stores (Saturday 17th August 2019). They took my number and told me that somebody from the store will give a call on my mobile. I received a call after 10 mins and I was told that they have the stock and they mentioned that they will give me a better deal than any...body else. I told them I will collect the phone the next day as the stores was about to close. The next day (Sunday 18th August 2019), I went to Harvey Norman along with my daughter to get the Iphone 6S 32GB. My daughter was also excited that finally we are about to get the phone. I went to electronics section and asked the sales representative about Iphone 6S 32GB, I also mentioned to them that I had received a call the previous evening about the availability of the stock. They said that they have "space grey" and generally they sell the stock on contract. I told them that I am not interested in any mobile contract and I would like to take "unlocked phone". They insisted me that I go with a mobile contract but I kept saying that the phone is for my daughter and she doesn't use it much and we are planning for a cheap prepaid mobile plan. They kept insisting me that I should go with mobile contract and also asked me why I want to purchase an unlocked phone. Finally they went inside and had a chat with the store manager and came back to me saying that they will sell the Iphone 6S 32GB space grey for $499. I asked them whether they can do price match with "Office works" and showed them their price which is "$439". They went inside and had a chat with thier manager and came back to me saying that they don't have the Iphone 6S and it is out of stock, The only store which has this phone is in "Cairns". They also told me that they can get it from there for $499. I finally went to "BIG W" chermside and they are very helpful and told me that the GOLD colour Iphone 6S 32GB is available in Northlakes and picked it from "Big W". Finally I got the brand new one for $439 for my daughter. My experience with Harvey Norman is pathetic and their behavior is very unprofessional. I wouldn’t go to Harvey norman again.
Product Care is a waste of money
We purchased two iPad Pros and were told by the sales assistant that the Harvey Norman Product Care would cover for accidental damage.... well it doesn’t and now we have a smashed iPad that will cost over $700 to replaced!!!!! We were lied to and mislead into purchasing a product warranty that is useless..... If we knew that, we could have walked 100metre down the road and brought the iPads with Apple Care and we wouldn’t be having this problem....
Harvey Norman Nunawading have lied to us after initial agreeing that the staff member was incorrect with her sales pitch. They have refused to refund us the $427 we have paid in Product Care that apparently isn’t active till after the 12 month manufacturers warranty...
Order HP Printer
Ordered and paid for HP printer before end of June. Item was out of stock in local store, but on order. Delivery was supposed to be within a few days. Still waiting- need urgently for small business.
Your South Rd Vic Store Sucks
Bought a laptop, went to return it a few days later and was instantly confronted by a sign that said something along the lines of "aggressive or loud behaviour towards our staff will not be tolerated" which makes me think that I am not the only one that has had trouble in this store, I have never seen a sign like that before lol.
Anyway, customer service was shocking, no one in that place was helpful at all its actually a wonder you are still in business. I tell everyone I know to stay far away from harvey norman. Better prices and service elswhere.
A member of staff shouted at me for interrupting him. Told me to leave him alone, so I left the shop.
Went into the store and spke to a slaes assistant, before I had a chance to finish the question he shouted and told me he was buzy and to leave him alone. I waited for someone else to serve me and after 30 minutes of waiting being ignored, decided to leave without my purchase.
Instead of click and collect, Harvey Norman at Broadway should be called Click and WAIT and WAIT
Instead of click and collect, Harvey Norman at Broadway NSW should be called Click and WAIT & WAIT. Management should invest in a bell for the Click and Collect counter, so that staff do not hide in the storeroom. Management should also invest in a new computer that works and can print out receipts quickly! The waiting and poor service on Saturday 29 June 19 around 9.30am was terrible! I could have made the purchase over the counter quicker than using the Click and Collect service. Really pathetic
Tech salesmen misleading customers for their benefits
Went to purchase a laptop 2 years back at the valley store in QLD and the salesman was actively pushing you to take up the Flexi Rent option claiming false things such as at end of term, you can offer as low as 50 dollars and also claim all of it on tax etc. Got sucked in and they dont even show you the contract to read at the time, they just apply, ask you to sign and off you go. now at end of term you get hassled with baloon payments and then you understand why they rush you and push you to these things(only for them to get more sales and not...hing in this for the customer). If you look at the flexi rent page, most complaints are from people who took from Harvey norman, dont know why you guys promote such day time robbery. one word of advise to all, please dont go for the leasing option here.
Sold me a product they didn't have in stock.
Purchased a product on the (10/4/19) for a kids birthday its currently the 7/5/19 I've had no one from Harvey Norman contact me to let me know what's happening I mean why would they have my money already and everyone knows when they deal with Harveys once they have your money they don't care about you its the Harvey way. There second store Joyce Mayne is no better.
EDIT: They don't know where the tracking number is, they don't know where anything is.
Customer gets left in the dark!
You will not have a pleasant experience dealing with HARVEY NORMAN. JBHIFI is across the road and there products/ Service makes Harvey noman look like something out of a 3rd world country.
Castle Hill store - 1 hr Click & Collect for an instock item? Try 6 hours+
I ordered a few packs of instant film through HN as the website very clearly said it’d be 1 hour click and collect, and also said the items were in stock at the store.
I ordered at 10:44am yet it wasn’t ready for pickup for 6 hours - after 5pm. What happened to 1 hour? I would have happily settled for 2..but 6+ hours? Was a quiet mid-week day and I saw dozens of the item in the shelf, so clearly stock wasn’t an issue.
When I did arrive there was an extended wait at the photo counter to pick up the item despite 4 other staff members wanderin...g around with no other customers to serve. Once I finally got served I was denied the item because I had my daughter listed as the person picking up, despite the HN computer terminal clearly listing me as the purchaser/orderer with my full details. I listed my daughter on the order expecting the item to be ready by midday at the latest - HN staff failed to see the logic that the 6 hr delay in processing could have on a customer and sought to deny me the order although they had confirmation on the computer that I was the one who placed the order and paid for the item. It wasn’t until the staff member called over the manager that I was finally provided with the item, by this point I had waited ten minutes in the store - on top of the 6 hours. Would encourage others not to use 1hr Click & Collect unless you’re intending on coming into store many days later.
Phoned store-Harvey Norman Thomastown Vic,to see if they had the camera I wanted in stock. They did.I asked about price and was told-come in and we can work out a good deal. The advertisements on tv were raving about -huge clearance, prices slashed, blah blah.I drove the 75km to the store. Not one cent would they take off the price, totally refused.Gave me some bull about being already at cost price.Yeah right.I could have bought this online $40 cheaper, but they won't match online prices.I needed this camera for an event, and had already wasted time and fuel,so was forced to take it at that. But never again.Harvey Norman, you are LIARS.
So pushy to sell extended warranty even after telling them no 3 times.
Had to deal with a salesperson that had no clue about computers, who was extremely pushy in selling a more expensive laptop and also adding an extended warranty. Think we said no thanks about 3 or 4 times before get annoyed with the salesperson.
Liars - If you want customer service or product knowledge - Dont go there
After being a loyal customer to Harvey Norman for more than 15 years I am sad to say that due to the ethics, sales techniques and attitude at Harvey Norman (Marion, South Australia, Australia) recently I have no option but to take my business elsewhere. I visited the store to purchase another Optus Australia mobile phone and wanted a specific brand. Optus had a promotion for a free Samsung mobile phone - which I happily upgraded to for other family members on another day, however, this was not the brand required at this time. The mobile was not...in stock so the sales person told me to get a Samsung because it was free and sell it online and get some money for it - You should received at least $300 for it and rattled off the website name. I told him I was not interested and that it was not ethical ... He told me to listen and repeated himself a number of times. I rang another Harvey Norman store and they had the brand style number in stock. A manager was hovering around and after I completed the phone conversation he stepped in and said well we could always order one in. Having a chat and thinking about my options - I qualified myself (sales and service is ingrained in me) and decided to get a phone for myself and hand my phone to the person needing a new one. Choosing the correct brand I wanted and upgraded to the newest - sitting with the person I spoke about 256gig - he said you dont need it 128gig was ample (for some reason I trusted him even though I was reducing the gig size from my current phone) He stated the price and went on to choose a colour. Returning with the box he stated "I can save you more money" I asked how and was told because I was a good customer. - Oh thank you (good customer I would say is because of the $1000's that I have spent over the years in all Harvey departments). He went to the Optus Australia site and downloaded the documents and I signed the papers without reviewing - stupid me..... I said I need protection for the phone. It took him a good 5 minutes to even find a phone cover and screen protector "we have been busy" I said you should get someone to take ownership and ensure the merchandise is continuously stocked. He said "we need an automated system to restock upon sale". I took my goods - a few days later when I unpacked the phone I realised the reason the plan was cheaper was because I was DUPED - it was a 64gig mobile - I was absolutely furious and humiliated because I was away at the time and had no option but to use the phone. I waited a few weeks to try and calm down and last Saturday I bent down to pick up my dog and the phone fell out of my pocket - onto the only stone on the grass - it hit the cover - scratched it and then went into the unprotected portion of the screen - yep the screen protector does not curve around to protect the whole screen and the case did not reached the edge of the screen protector. I went into Harvey Norman (Marion, South Australia, Australia) quite distressed. The first consultant listened to my concern turned to the side and said names and walked off without a hand over so I repeated myself again. [name removed] had "never" seen this and said use your insurance. My reply being WARRANTY - both companies failed to protect my phone. He said he didn't know where to start and basically fobbed me off... and would not help me either with my second complaint of being DUPED by the other manager. Left the store before things got out of hand and rang and asked for the senior manager to call me. An hour later I had a call from [name removed] - who sold me the first 3 phones (in his first week I need to add). He said I was asked to call you but I have no idea what it is about. I said [name removed] are you a senior manager? No - I said I want to speak to the franchise manager and have a complaint about his managers. How DARE the managers on that day put [name removed] under the bus when they both knew I was upset!!! [name removed] called me back the next day.... With the downgrading of the phone Oh I know [name removed] he wouldn't do that - Well he did this time... Take photos of the damage I will send it to the company and go from there. Because the screen is held together by the glass protector we were unable to take clear pictures so trotted off to see this [name removed] - Oh I thought you had a protector that totally encases your phone this is different... REALLY - NO neither were designed properly and still, I have an issue with being downgraded. All I can offer you is a credit for the difference between the 128 and 64gig.. I did not accept this and the reply was I cant do anything with this phone and would have to put it in the bin - obviously really FRUSTRATED I stated as my voice started rising so the $100 odd K that we have spent with Harvey Norman over the years means nothing to you. Gave him a few training sales techniques for UPGRADING and finding out customer NEEDS - he looked around nervously and told me to put my voice down. I stopped looked at him and then he said "in reason". Picking up my goods I left. I am left with an inefficient phone that will barely cover the apps . Cracked screen from bad manufacturing designs. Optus I hope you investigate the selling techniques used because I am happy to let you know how they are pushing your services and products to get sales....
Harvey Norman Auburn - Unconscionable conduct
I am a long time Go MasterCard customer and have used Harvey Norman's interest free services on numerous occasions. It's a great scheme if you want to free up your cash flow and can budget correctly. While the interest free offers are great, Harvey Norman Auburn's sales team is not.
I've experienced 3 separate incidents over the past 2 years that have truly soured my experience and have made me vow not only to never return to Harvey Norman Auburn, but to ensure every single person I know does not give them their business.
The first incident o...ccurred approximately 2 years ago when I took Harvey Norman up on a 3 year interest free deal and decided to buy a notebook. We were looking to buy a desktop replacement rather than something ultra portable, so we settled on a top of the line HP Notebook (which ended up being a terrible piece of kit btw). The notebook was showcased on an end cap and the "Special" price on the signage was $2197. We did the deal, put it on the Go MasterCard and walked out. It was only after picking up a catalogue on the way out and then flicking through it when later on that evening that we realised that the very same notebook was advertised in HN's Notebook Sale at $1749. When I called the next day, I was told it was all a big mistake and that the sales rep was terribly sorry and a refund for the difference would be processed. I bit my tongue as I worked in retail for many years (including the very same HN store I'd just shopped at) and refused to believe that a computer salesman could make that sort of mistake with a catalogued item, located on an end cap. It also took 2 store visits, weeks of waiting and many phone calls for the refund to be processed. I was not happy at all, but at least it was sorted out. About 9 months ago, I wanted to buy a Digital SLR. Again I wanted to take up the interest free finance offer and so headed to HN Auburn. After speaking to the sales rep for 20 minutes or so, I settled on a Canon EOS 600D with twin lens kit as there was a deal posted on signage in the display cabinet for $1097. I bought some other bits and pieces (a bag and memory card etc.) as well as some small electrical items (a juicer and dust buster vac) and the sales rep put the sale through. It was only after I got home and looked at the invoice that I noticed that the camera had been put through at $1197 (the original price, not the advertised special) despite repeatedly confirming this with the sales rep during the sales process. I called the store and was told that the sales rep was sorry and that he'd become confused because the store was so busy. Again, I had my doubts about the "mistake" but bit my tongue. I was told to return to the store so a refund could be processed. I did this and waited. I called numerous times and was constantly told it would take a little while to appear. To date, the $100 refund has never appeared on my Go Mastercard statement and according to GE Money, was never received by them. I gave up in the end, as I had neither the time nor patience to keep ringing. I must be a sucker for punishment however as I went back for more. I know that most places do not offer Apple products on interest free, however I noticed that HN were offering selected items in an interest free capacity on their website. We decided to visit the store to see what we could find. When we approached the sales staff, we advised that we were Go MasterCard customers and wanted to purchase 2x MacBook Pro notebook computers using interest free. At no stage were we told this was not possible, however we were pushed towards the Flexirent option as it "came with lots of additional benefits" including insurance and the ability to buy out for $1 at contract end. This sounded great, so we started the paperwork. The sales rep then involved his floor manager as he was not able to process the Flexirent transaction himself. The manager was quite possibly the most high-pressure sales person I have ever dealt with. Without asking us, item after item appeared on the desk, included in the sales price. Power filters, anti-virus, apple care etc. all added in with the promise of a special deal. He must have thought we were stupid. It was insulting and demeaning to think that he was putting pure profit above customer service. After nearly getting up and walking out (wish we did) I made it very clear that we only wanted the 2x notebooks and was put on the phone with Flexirent who, in hindsight, only explained the benefits (insurance, "free" gift etc.), not the negatives. I was not given a total figure or comparison rate and was not told the buyout figure. The sales staff then told me that they didn’t actualy have the notebooks and would have to order them. Only upon getting home did we read the 16 page contract in its entirety and noticed that we were effectively paying a 45% interest rate. Admittedly, not taking the time to scour the contract was a bit dumb. But the bait and switch and high-pressure sales tactics employed by HN staff did not allow this. I called the following day and spoke to the floor manager, explaining that I was not happy with Flexirent and wanted to use the interest free payments as I first requested. He assured me that if I came into the store we could work it out. I spent hours the next weekend trying to sort this out, but the manager’s idea of sorting it out was to convince me that Flexirent was the way to go. How this is sold as a “consumer” lease is beyond me as there are 0 benefits. I was sold on the idea of the insurance, but refuted this given the 45% interest rate. I was told there were tax benefits, again refuted by me, as tax depreciation when a percentage is used for business is still applicable when I pay by another method. A finance expert was brought over and he explained that the interest free offers only applied to select Apple packages they put together and could not be used for this purchase. Things then started getting nasty as the floor manager basically told me that I had signed the contract and it was too bad. I explained that he had still not supplied the goods, so under consumer law, the contract was not valid. Again this went back and forth until I made him a deal. If he could do 12 months interest free on one notebook, I’d pay cash for the other. We had a deal and went through the interest free paperwork. It was then that he told me that he did not actually have the second notebook as one turned up and it was damaged. I asked to see it, as it was apparently only package damage. He could not produce the item, which again made me suspicious as he’d only received the item the previous day (Friday). I ended up re-visiting to pick up the 2nd notebook about 5 days later and only because I called to see if it was in as nobody rang me as promised.
Neither good or bad
I have been only few times Harvey Norman shops. Like most of physical retailers, they struggle to be competitive. If the price is correct, I see no issue buying from them. But most of time I bought online somewhere else.
