Refused to provide a refund for a falsely advertised item
My partner bought me a digital photo frame as a Christmas present. Come to find that the frame doesn't read USB flash drives over 64Gb, which was not stated anywhere on the product. Harvey Norman (HN) refused to offer a refund. Their claim was because there was nothing wrong with the product in their view, they could not send it back to the manufacturer, and because they had no box for it they couldn't resell it either.
My partner bought from HN specifically for the convenience of being able to sort out issues such as these in person, as oppos...Read more
ed to dealing with online retailers with offshore customer service centres and postages, which were cheaper. But having gone through this experience we have no incentive to go back to HN -- we'll just buy online for cheaper and receive the same (if not better) customer service. You would expect a bricks and mortar retailer with stiff online competition to take a small loss in order to keep a customer, prevent them from posting negative reviews on the internet and prevent them from sharing their experience with friends and family. In the long run, this experience will cost them far more than what the photo frame was worth not only in terms of money but reputation as well. Wrong way to do business in today's world!Similar opinion? Write a review on ProductReview.com.au!

Useless tech service
Bought a laptop , it was having battery issues and was informed that I had to take it to Apple directly as they were the manufacturer , lie number 1.
[name removed] the tech guy doesn’t have an idea of policies and even the apple dude I took it to said that Harvey Norman Warrawong were shirking their responsibilities.
Came back to Harvey Norman with info from apple that it had nothing to do with them and again the useless [name removed] advised that they needed to have a tech report from apple to make sure it had no water damage. So again I ...Read more

Cairns store
on the 26/11 I brought online the JBL Flip5, I collected it at Harvey Norman Cairns - 101 Spence St, and when I got home, I opened the product, it was supposed to be black as I ordered online but it was a green unit, the colour actually did not bothered me but after using it, every 45 minutes - 1 hours, it disconnects from the Bluetooth (mobile phone or laptop) so on the 27/11 I tried returning it and got informed from an employee [Name Removed] (apparently the manager) that he could not refund me as the product is not the same colour as it should be, his worlds were "I can do nothing as this is not the product we gave to you".
It has been 3 weeks now and not a single email or phone call about it.
Terrible customer service.

Poor customer service
My friend purchased a modem. I looked at the box, ( unopened) and I felt it was a lower quality modem and decided to return it for a better model. Refused to take it back. Refused to let me upgrade. Just overall not nice person . Lesson learner, buy somewhere else.

Congrats for winning the worst customer experience in 2020, stay away everyone
I have bought online a screen with a good discount (on the website) but it turns to be more expensive than all other shops (after the claimed discount), couldn't blame them as this is capitalism anyways and I really cared more about the specs but you should be aware of that if you care about 'honest' discount offers, recieved it 3 weeks later (well, its covid era, we can wait, its not an emergency supplies and maybe the ship is facing the holly winds and didn't reach the borders on time), then all after this waiting period, I got the screen whi...Read more
ch was great except it got a killing feature, I can't mount it on desk and I don't havw enough space on desk so that was a bad design in this model and I needed to change it even if I will pay a higher price but couldn't find a better one with the specs I need (they sell only 3/4brands for that model) so I went to the shop and asked politely if I can return it, and they said why? I said it doesnt have a mount option which is I really need so the floor manager plus the store manager and others were like (but no screen got moint options, so I pointed to the screen they scan things at and said what about these ones?) so they said well we mean we dont sell any screen with mount options, then I showed them a less expensive one at their 'own' shop which got the option, so they said in very rude way we dont accept returning any opened products, although I closed the screen and it got no scratch and even the box was closed correctly, so I told them all that and they were like (no, you can complain or use other shops to buy next time which accept a return policy, so I smiled and was like wow, and the guy continued 'I mean I NEVER seen anyone who buy a pc screen then return it, who does that', and this is not the first experience, I got other experience with different product but thought at time it was a considence, it turns to be a culture thing and look at all other reviews, what drove me to write this reveiw, I seen they won the worst customer experience this year as well which means it is not considence, they are truly bad/over priced shopsSimilar opinion? HP Envy Laptop & Product Care - Beware All
Bought a HP Envy Laptop 14 months ago with Product Care.
Whole base of keyboard bowed that snapped the hinges.. clearly something difficult to do.
Product Care knocked back the claim saying this was from being dropped..really - how can I possibly bend the steel !!! Looking at HP reviews - heaps of issue around heat. (of course denied by Product care !)
Dont waste your mopney with this laptop or purchasing product care ... what a joke, just looking to reject a claim on a 2k laptop. Having purchased a significant amount of goods from this store for home & buisness - diabolical customer service

Lenovo Chromebook C340 - Buyer beware
I purchased two of these for my kids today via click and collect from harvery norman Maribyrnong. Opened the box and one had a smashed screen and body was bent. Took it back to the shop and they refused to exchange. They said because the box wasn't damaged it not their fault. They called back and said Lenovo wont give a refund either because they say every item checked before it leaves the production facility..... (not their fault they say)
They simply refuse to refund or exchange even when we called them minutes after being handed the box.
I had no choice but to buy another one and they said take the issue to the ACCC
What customer service that is!

Don't attempt to return anything or you maybe labelled a liar! Unbelievable. I tried and was told that I must bring in all my equipment to prove that what I was saying was accurate. Never I have ever felt such criticism from a store. Never I have ever felt the need to pen a review due to such poor behaviour and customer service. You can be sure I will be taking my custom elsewhere. I would urge others to do likewise as you only know the level of service when things go sideways and you need to return to receive a replacement or store credit.

Refused to honor Legal warranty even with receipt after 8 mths!!!!!
Have bought from local HN before, ideally so that if something went wrong, I could bring the product back without issue. After todays rude and unhelpful experience with "Mark" at Burnie store, I will shop with EBAY!

Cannot return faulty item
Purchased a LIFEPROOF phone case. The rubber edge was coming off. I brought it back to the store for an exchange/refund. The store deemed it as wear and tear. The rubber band on the edge serves as functional, not decorative. Staff told me that they can process a warranty claim but unsure of results from LIFEPROOF - they may refund, they may dismiss. Also told me that the claims of higher value are more of a priority than a $60 phone case, and that it can take time, so I am better off contacting them myself. Another store was willing to refund. The franchise's do things under their discretion and there is no consistency in their policies.

Terrible customer service experience - very stressful
EDIT: they exchanged the tablet for me. Maintained until the end that I (or a family member) had damaged it and stated that 'they would be wearing the cost.' Still a buyer beware story though as this was a horrendously stressful experience all round but at least I wasn't out of pocket in the end - they must take some credit for that.
My story: Last week, I attended Harvey Norman at _______, Perth to return a faulty Samsung Galaxy Tab A 10.1 (2019) tablet. I purchased the tablet two days prior for my 4 year old daughter who needs a device ...Read more
as my wife and I are augmenting her reading lessons with time on the ABC Reading Eggs app. I soon discovered that the tablet had a bend in the case. Photos are attached. When I purchased the tablet 2 days ago I immediately went to Officeworks and purchased a tablet cover. I have also attached proof of this to this email (look at times of purchase on the receipts). When I arrived at the store I went straight to the service counter and I was told that I needed to go to to see a sales assistant in the computer department. This man's name was _______. He took a look at the tablet and told me that he needed to get approval to replace the tablet. I told him that this was not acceptable to me because this was obviously a fault straight from the factory. There had not been any damage to the tablet from my end; as stated previously, this tablet immediately went into a cover after unboxing and stayed there until I took it back to the shop this morning. My 4 year old daughter had at that point only spent 15 minutes with the tablet which was completely supervised by my wife and during which time absolutely no damage was done to the tablet. I told ______ that I wanted my money back or a replacement immediately because under Australian consumer law, this is what you're entitled to if there is a major fault. Instead, he went and told his manager that he needed to come and speak to me. The manager made me wait 20 minutes and then told me that he would not refund me my money nor replace the device until he had advice from the ‘tech’ at his place of work, stating that that this would need to happen in order for the return to be completed. At this point I became really annoyed because the obvious implication is that the fault somehow occurred through damage being done by either me or my family why else would a tech person need to be consulted? He also said that he'd never seen damage like this come straight from the factory. This man, ______, was at turns accusatory, unhelpful, indignant and uncooperative. It was an awful, stressful experience dealing with him. As stated above, I now have a new tablet but it was done grudgingly and without a whole lot of goodwill attached. I will never shop at Harvey Norman again.Similar opinion? Write a review on ProductReview.com.au!

Try to Return Something
I purchased an electronics item and later found that it wasn't compatible with my device and tried to return it. The item was unopened and I had the receipt from the previous day. I was bounced from one person to another who had their own processes until I had enough. I ended up giving it away to a friend.

Lied to about available software
I was sold expensive antivirus software when I bought a laptop. Was told it wasn't available for just one device when it is. Also wasn't told about less expensive Office option. Was fobbed off when I complained.
I believe these lies and subterfuge are caused by low hourly rates and a dependance on commissions. I put my trust in the sales person. Never again and never again at Harvey Norman.

Do not purchase extended warranty
Purchased a laptop a few weeks ago, prior to paying was asked if I wanted extended warranty which they call "product care". They offered me a great discount without me even haggling. They said that it did 2 things. If, within the warranty time frame, I decided I wanted to upgrade I could do so only paying the difference. Or if within warranty time my laptop didn't work I could potentially get a new laptop or the part replaced. Therefore I purchased the "product care", in the back of my mind knowing it was too good to be true. When I got home I ...Read more
read so many horror stories about "product care", I went back the next day to refund it. Initially they refused to let me refund the warranty, but once I threatened to return the laptop as well, they gave way. I know I was lucky to get my money back, had I waited until after 20 day cooling period, I would have been stuck with the stupid thing and lost 150 bucks.Similar opinion?
