Both my dog and my sister's dog got heartworms while on this medication
So disappointed in this product. We were very careful to give as directed but it did not work! The vet and Merial-Heartgard's parent company-refused to pay for the treatment which costs hundreds of dollars. In speaking to other people we know, there are a LOT that also had the same experience. Heartgard failed us as well as the veterinarian. Our vet claimed that buying it through them, and I quote "If your dog gets heartworms while taking this medication, we will treat them for FREE". Read moreo be 100% effective-not true. They didn't take responsibility either. Not only did we have to pay for the treatment, but our dogs got heartworms! They had to go through the terrible ordeal of curing them as well as their heart is now weakened by having this disease. I spent hundreds of dollars buying a medicine that was worthless. I'll never buy it again nor would I recommend it to anyone else.

Heartgard Plus Chews are available in 3 versions:
- For small dogs up to 11 kg
- For medium dogs 12-22 kg
- For large dogs 23-45 kg
Dosage
Giving Heartgard30 Plus to your dog wins points in terms of its simplicity. One beefy chew should be given to your canine companion once a month. It can be hand-fed or broken into pieces and mixed in with your dog’s food. The packages come in two sizes; 6 tablets or 12 tablets, allowing you to choose between a supply of either 6 months or one year.
Points to note
This medication can be used on all dog breeds, and is also safe for use on breeding bitches and puppies who are 6 weeks old or over.
As a point of note, this Plus version is different to the regular Heartgard, which just provides protection against heartworms.
