Had it for about 2 weeks after having a hn7 then using the explorer app. Chose this unit because I have about 3-4 years if routs, waypoinys and track logs. As far as I know it's the only service that allows a cloud sync meaning if I loose or if i upgrade my device I don't loose my 3-4 years of logs and wsypoints. I also like the ability to share tracklogs or waypoinys via email, whatsapp message ect. It took maybe 1 or 2 hours after logging in to my cloud account to upload over 500 waypoinys and tons of routs tracklogs and map sections I have...downloaded for Max zoomed off road use. Very quick considering the amount of data. I did run a little slow but being organised I have created region specific folders so I can use only one at a time eg. Vick high country, cape ect. As a result it doesn't have to load everything and runs quick as. I was surprised the during testing it was giving me speed camera warnings even in explorer mode. As far as the drive mode goes inside awesome. I was able to set up a multi point route for my cape trip and save it so on the morning of the trip I hit on button and I guides me step by step. Love that it tells me all the next rest stops and even gives me easy offline access to health accommodation and repair services with on button press. Seems that all the satyelite and battery problems have been sorted. I'm so glad I did not read all of the negative reviews. Ppl who say it's too complicated most be expecting everything handed to them. Just gotta use ur brain sometimes. It I know Joe to use a topo it's easy. And let's face it, the main reason Ppl should boys this is for the topos as there are hundreds of inroad navigators. Thought it was worth mentioning that as I was reading reviews it asks "was this helpfull" at the bottom and does not have a no option. Only a yes box. Minds bias I reckon.
New map detail is awesome compared to my hn7 and really cool that it has a camera to geotag my photos. Just wish there was a reversing camera input on it.
Questions & Answers
Im trying to update my HX-1 but when I go to check for updates now it tells me I have a network error. I've checked the wifi it was fine, reset just in case but still can't get the updates. It also said that we had registered to our email and to reset to another hema cloud ????
The media operator does not work on my HX-1. I can not find any solution to this fault?
Hi Chris, The Hx-1 Navigator is a dedicated GPS unit and as such was not designed to play media files other than the video recorded with the onboard camera. If you would like more information, please email us at: email@example.com
Does anyone else have problems with the navigation when using the Camps 10 Locations and the Camps Public Dump Points. I find my HX-1 to be hopeless, we have gotten lost so many times trying to follow the directions as given when we use this function. Our HX-1 sends us in circles, back tracking where we had just come from and no where near our destination. I contacted Hema and they told me to reset the GPS, which I did but it hasn't made any difference. I find if I enter the address the HX-1 gets us to where we want to be but when using the Camps function we end up chasing our tail. I am finding it quicker and easier to use our in car navigation instead. So far I have been very disappointed with the HX-1
