Board and Batten bedroom wall

Thank you to Paul from Epping Hire a Hubby who completed a Board and Batten wall in our bedroom. A task he undertook eagerly and gave us a beautiful bedroom. From the beginning Paul was professional, polite and always prepared to listen to our ideas. I would not hesitate in recommending Paul for any future carpentry jobs. Show reply

Over priced. Taking advantage of elderly

In Hobart Tasmania my grandmother got the local hire a hubby to her place for some minor repairs. They charged about $110 per hour each which is pathetic. Basic work.

Do not use. The builder we had robbed us

Their builder did a quote. After agreeing, he took $3500 and did not come back and failed to contact us. We managed to get some back but he still owes $1600. He promised the Dept of Fair Trading to return the money owed but has not done so. Hire a Hubby we’re unhelpful. Do not use this company.

Disappointed

Used HH Crib Point few months ago to replace an outside garage door. First attempt an inside door was used that didn’t fit. Second attempted the door was not painted properly and a third visit was necessary. Now we have winter the door has swollen, doesn’t shut, clearly not fit for purpose. Overpriced and poor workmanship. Won’t be using HH again.

Waste of time

I called the Southern Highlands branch and needed someone to replace a few leaking and cracked roof tiles. They told me they could do it and would call to confirm time and quote. Never heard from them again.

Very poor service

I hired a hubby to lay some concrete for a footpath and a small slab. I dug out the base for the footpath to the level I wanted. Hire a hubby Carindale quoted me minimum 100mm thick concrete. When he had completed the formwork there were sections 20-30mm deep. The formwork itself was only 90mm wide so never had a chance of reaching 100mm thick concrete.
When I asked him to make the formwork deeper I was told sarcastically to dig deeper myself.
He then told me he wouldn’t return.
I then found a concreter who finished the job with no problem, raised the formwork and lay the concrete to the level I wanted.

Buyers Beware

This franchise can not be trusted. They advertise "Workmanship 100% Guarantee" - we have received faulty workmanship and Hire A Hubby will not act on their guarantee. Sadly we are left to take this matter further, when this company should simple honor what they promise.

"Service" centre slow and rude

After a week of waiting after my first call, I called again because the work is now urgent. I was told "someone will get back to you in a few days". They then wanted my email address - why? They have my phone number. No-one needs to be giving out more data than necessary these days. The girl hung up on me. I would never call these guys again and be stuffed around, privacy threatened and treated so rudely.

Try another business

I requested a quote from hire a hubby for a painting job. While discussing the job on the phone, I was trying to hear the contact while she had background sounds of dogs barking and doors banging. Waited a week but no detailed quote was offered and no information about time frames made available. Save yourself the anxiety and just go elsewhere.

Work not finished or properly done

I message the company as I have few small works to get done. The guy showed up, pretending did some measurements and to get quotes and just wasted my time as he never brought back any quote. Also I asked to fix a thing on the roof, he took 2 seconds and obviously didn’t fix it, I asked to come back and to fix it properly and he never showed up. Highly don’t recommend this company!

New Farm Hire a Hubby - WARNING

Do not use this company. They damaged the house and then fabricated an additional cost that needed to be paid before they would rectify the extensive damage that they made. Blackmail and lies. Arrogant, sexist and disrespectful owner. The majority of work they do is flipping and fixing things for rentals and non owner-occupiers who don’t care. Do not use this company if you want quality work and people who care for your home. Disgusting and disgraceful company. Head office did nothing to rectify. Simply stopped hearing from the “area manager”. Be aware!

Quote for repairing decking and replacing doors

I had Michael come down to have a look at some jobs that needed doing which were repairing and painting the decking as well as replacing some doors that were damaged. This was on 14 February and to date I have not heard back from him. This is not very professional and I would have preferred that he was honest if he didn't feel that this job was suitable. Overall, I was very disappointed as there was no feedback whatsoever. Due to this experience I would not recommend Hire a Hubby to anyone.

Unreliable, unprofessional, unworkable

Tradesman employed to install new front door lock and change handles on internal doors. Front door would not lock after said installation and several doors did not function properly. Waited 7 weeks for tradesman to return to rectify work. Numerous "no shows" in the interim. Would not take responsibility for the shoddy work. In the end I had to employ someone else to rectify.

Hire a hubby complaints resolution was completely ineffective. This tradesman is getting away with sub standard work, is unreliable and untrustworthy.

Rip off….steer clear

Attempted to engage local HAH in my area for a very small plaster patching job. Plenty of photos supplied. No materials just taping, skimming and sanding. Spoke to a family plasterer interstate and he said it’s a two hour on site job at most. The quote came in at $825 - $875….that’s about $425 an hour for a handyman, not even a qualified tradesman. When I asked for a detailed quote to itemise the quote all I got was “we are not obliged to do that”. Clear case of just price gouging and no doubt HAH will give their standard response looking at other posts on this site, and do nothing about this. The reputation harm to this brand is forever tarnished. I have already passed on my experience to the local community FB page
